This 32-inch curved Samsung monitor Black Friday deal delivers immersion on the cheap

Curved monitors were once the height of computer luxury, but Samsung and Walmart are looking to change that for this Black Friday season.

The duo are selling a 32-inch curved monitor for less than $200 in advance of the shopping holiday as part of the early Walmart Black Friday sale.

This is undoubtedly a steal for a curved monitor that uses the arguably superior  VA (vertical alignment) panel type, which offers higher contrast ratio than TN or IPS panels. As such, you're looking at a 3,000:1 contrast ratio here in a screen that displays 99% of the sRGB color gamut and 73% of the Adobe RGB gamut.

With all of that considered, this is an excellent choice of monitor for playing games at 1080p resolution, as it even features a gaming mode for faster input delay. It's going to be tough to beat a deal like this for gamers this Black Friday or even Cyber Monday.

Brand-new, 14-inch budget Dell laptop deal slashes $230 off before Black Friday

If you're looking for a relatively powerful mid-range laptop on the cheap, this year's Black Friday deals are looking better than ever. Exhibit A? This 14-inch Dell Inspiron laptop that's had its price slashed nearly in half.

We're talking about a Windows laptop with Intel's latest 10-nanometer processor inside for less than most Chromebooks you'll find today. For this, we have the early Walmart Black Friday sale to thank.

Now, before you get to that deal page and get confused, it appears that Walmart has the wrong model number listed for the actual product that's on sale. All of the specs for this laptop actually belong to the Dell Inspiron 14 5000 – not the Inspiron 14 3493 that Walmart has listed.

We confirmed this via Dell's own product page for the device, so you should receive a laptop with the above specifications regardless of what Walmart is calling it. Such a laptop should be considered a steal given what's inside.

One of the cheapest Chromebooks we’ve seen before Black Friday is at Walmart

If you're looking for a cheap Chromebook and fast, then Lenovo and Walmart have concocted a sweet deal just for you as part of the early Walmart Black Friday sale.

The duo are selling this Chromebook for more than $200 off of Lenovo's list price, making it one of the cheapest Chromebooks we've seen this year ahead of Black Friday 2019 or Cyber Monday 2019.

Short of that $99 Windows laptop we found a while back, we haven't seen that many nearly double-digit priced laptops since.

If all you or a loved one needs is to browse Facebook, access social media and watch videos, then this should be an ideal laptop for them.  Of course, it hugely helps that it's as cheap as it is, but remember not to expect a powerhouse out of the box.

Walmart’s selling one of the cheapest gaming laptops well before Black Friday

Looking for a new gaming laptop for yourself or a loved one? Here's a model from MSI being sold as part of the early Walmart Black Friday sale for an absolute steal.

This is a 15.6-inch, 1080p gaming laptop with the latest in entry-level Nvidia graphics hardware and a spacious solid-state drive (SSD) for a frankly insane price this far ahead of Black Friday.

This is one of the cheapest gaming laptops we've seen before Black Friday, and a more than capable one at that. With this, you'll not only have plenty of storage for a large library of PC games, but you'll be able to play them well at 1080p resolutions with lots of detail.

Slap another monitor onto this setup with the laptop's HDMI-out or mini DisplayPort – or both – and you can rock a screen arrangement of up to three displays. Not bad for a gaming laptop that doesn't cost more than an expensive Chromebook right now.

The best Chromebooks

The best Chromebooks are a somewhat new addition to the laptop conversation but they are a wise choice for anyone looking for a new device or one solely for work.

Why is that? The best chromebooks can hold a charge that will last you through the day with their excellent battery life, and are very capable of multitasking, even if it may not seem like it with the lightweight components most come with. And they’re getting more powerful every year, growing by leaps and bounds over previous generations.

Why go with one of the best Chromebooks instead of another laptop? It really depends on what your computing needs are and you’ll want to spend some time learning more about what a Chromebook is to see if it's right for you. The short version, though, is that the best Chromebooks are cheaper, lighter, and are much less susceptible to malicious attacks compared to Windows 10 devices. They can handle most tasks, whether they’re productivity-, creativity- or even entertainment-related, as long as they’re not processor-heavy.

This means that if you spend most of your time writing up documents and emails, bringing some streaming shows and doing some mobile gaming (think Plants vs Zombies), not to mention rudimentary photo and video editing, you’ll want to check out one of the best Chromebooks listed below.

Google Pixelbook Go

The Google Pixelbook Go is the best Chromebook of 2019.

Google continues its tradition of making the best Chromebooks in the world. While its older Pixelbook used to occupy the top spot in our best Chromebooks list, it's been replaced by Google's latest Chromebook: the Pixelbook Go. This is a Chromebook that proves that these devices can be just as stylish and powerful as traditional laptops, and the Pixelbook Go brings a lot of the original Pixelbook's premium features to a more affordable device. It also features a fantastic battery life and a brilliant keyboard that makes typing on a pleasure.

Asus Chromebook Flip

The Asus Chromebook Flip is the best convertible Chromebook.

Before Google rolled out the Pixelbook, and showed us exactly what the best Chromebooks should be, the Asus Chromebook Flip was the Google laptop a lot of Google laptops aspired to be. With a full Intel Core processor and a full-HD display, the Asus Chromebook Flip was certainly a game-changer. These days, in the shadow of Google Pixelbook, the Asus Chromebook Flip is the best Chromebook for you if you want the Pixelbook’s key features, but cannot afford its steep price. If you're on a budget, this is one of the best Asus laptops to consider.

Samsung Chromebook Pro

The Samsung Chromebook Pro is a brilliant Chromebook for productivity.

When the best Chromebooks finally supported Android apps, it was only a matter of time before Samsung threw its hat into the ring. The manufacturer designed a Chromebook that’s as stunning as it is powerful. With a 12.3-inch QHD touchscreen and a 360-degree hinge, the Samsung Chromebook Pro also has a built-in stylus – the first of its kind to show up in a Chromebook. This laptop gives many of its rivals, including most Android devices, a run for their money, even if its keyboard could use a bit of tightening up.

Acer Chromebook Spin 13

The Acer Chromebook Spin 13 is another top convertible Chromebook.

Education is one of the first things that comes to mind when you think of Chromebooks. But with its Chromebook Spin 13, Acer wants its Chromebooks to also be synonymous with business. Beautifully built from aluminum with a gorgeous QHD screen, it fits perfectly in any office setting, and will draw admiring looks at a cafe. It’s more than just its attractive chassis, however: the Acer Chromebook Spin 13 is packed with full-fat Ultrabook processors, so you can get work done – whether it’s at school or in the office – in style.

Dell Inspiron Chromebook 11 2-in-1

The Dell Inspiron Chromebook 11 2-in-1 is everything every Chromebook needs to be.

The best Chromebooks are generally affordable devices so that they are accessible to anyone, no matter their budget. The Dell Inspiron Chromebook 11 2-in-1 perfectly fits this bill, even if isn’t the most powerful Chromebook on the market. This device is everything every Chromebook needs to be: affordable, easy to use and durable. And, it’s rugged too. The Dell Inspiron Chromebook 11 2-in-1 is great for doing all your web browsing, paper writing and show binging needs. Plus, it may just be one of the best laptops for kids, as it won’t break from a single drop.

Acer Chromebook Spin 11

Acer has made one of the best Chromebooks ever with the Chromebook Spin 11.

The best Chromebooks make the most compelling student laptops, and that’s exactly where the Acer Chromebook Spin 11 excels. Whether you’re a student or a parent of one, this is a cheap, capable and durable laptop that will let you get some schoolwork done while commuting or traveling. You might not get any hardcore gaming or proper video editing done on it. However, if you only need to write up some papers and stream videos or shows in your downtime, then the Acer Chromebook Spin 11 should be at the top of your list.

Acer Chromebook 15

The Acer Chromebook 15 makes a great impression with its battery life.

With a solid build quality that rivals a MacBook, it’s easy to excuse the Acer Chromebook 15’s aversion to 2-in-1 form factors. Still, given that the best Chromebooks rolling out this year are fully convertible, thanks to the wide adoption of Android app support, the Acer Chromebook 15 had to prove itself with more than great style. Beyond its aptitude for laying flat using a 180-degree hinge, this beautiful 15-inch Chromebook also makes a great impression with its battery life, lasting nearly 17 hours in our battery test.

Acer Chromebook R11

Acer Chromebook R11 has a 360-degree hinge.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see Acer replacing the Chromebook R11 someday soon – at least, judging by the release of the Chromebook Spin 11, and owing to the fact that it isn’t the most powerful choice out there. Yet it still holds up to this day as among the best Chromebooks on the market, giving you full access to Android Apps on the Google Play store. What’s more, it does so on a touchscreen display that can be rotated around into tablet mode, fitted in an all-metal finish that you would be proud to show off.

HP Chromebook 14

The HP Chromebook 14 is a brilliant value Chromebook from HP.

The best Chromebooks balance a bargain price and efficient use of Chrome OS – and the HP Chromebook 14 is the perfect example of that. While it’s similar to the Acer Chromebook 15 in a lot of ways, this 14-inch Chromebook is a tad more compact and looks slightly better. Complemented by a bright blue finish and a screen made to astound, the HP Chromebook 14 offers the best value of any Chromebook out there. Even if the battery life and performance are average – the HP Chromebook 14 is easily one of the best Chromebooks.

Acer Chromebook Spin 15

The Acer Chromebook Spin 15 is the ultimate Chromebook for multitasking.

We can easily forgive the Acer Chromebook Spin 15’s shortcomings – namely, its subpar trackpad and the fact that doesn’t take full advantage of the space it has – as it more than makes up for them with enough power for formidable multitasking, a battery life that will outlast yours and a beautiful touch display that’s surprisingly premium for the price. All those certainly warrant this Chromebook a spot in our best Chromebooks list, and that’s without even factoring in its affordability. If you’re not convinced that you should jump on the Chromebook bandwagon, this one will make a convert out of you.

The Huawei Matebook 13 strike a balance between price and performance.

We’re massive fans of laptops that can skillfully strike a balance between price and performance with hardly any compromises, and the Huawei MateBook 13 comes closer to than anything else in 2019 so far. It’s light and compact, perfect for carrying in your backpack while you hurry from class to class; but it’s fast and affordable as well. This stunning 13-inch Ultrabook will make sure you’ll get all your work done in style, without burning a hole in your pocket. Sure, you might need to keep that charger on hand if you want it to last you the whole day, as the battery life is underwhelming. However, there’s still no doubt that the Huawei Matebook 13 deserves its lofty spot on the best laptops for students list.

Dell XPS 13

The Dell XPS 13 is affordable enough for college students once again.

The Dell XPS 13 2019 line welcomes back the entry-level model, making it affordable enough for college students once again. Dell also addressed our biggest frustration with the XPS lineup – the webcam. It has finally been moved back above the display where it belongs. This means that your family and friends won’t have to stare up into your nostrils when you’re video chatting ever again.

Google Pixelbook Go

The Google Pixelbook Go has earned our coveted “Editor's Choice” award in the Chromebook category.

Have you been waiting for the day you can finally afford the premium price of Google Pixelbook? Well, with Google releasing Pixelbook Go, your wait is finally over. Granted, it isn’t quite the actual luxury device you’ve been dreaming of. However, rest assured, you will love this Chromebook, just as we have during our time with it. We love it so much, in fact, that it earned our coveted “Editor's Choice” award in the Chromebook category. It boasts incredible battery life, an even more impressive keyboard and a 1080p webcam, which you don’t see often in the more budget-friendly laptops even in 2019.

Surface Laptop 2

The Surface Laptop 2 has considerably improved on its predecessor.

While the Surface Laptop was arguably one of the best laptops for students, it was still held back by its below average performance, a lack of ports and Windows 10 in S Mode. Luckily, the Surface Laptop 2 has considerably improved on its predecessor – with the exception of the ports. It’s now packed with 8th-generation Intel Kaby Lake Refresh processors, full-fat Windows 10 Home and a black color option. We only wish it included even a single USB-C port. Still, you will get all your tasks done in style with this laptop with little to no effort, making it deserving of a high spot on this list.

Microsoft Surface Go

The Microsoft Surface Go is one of the most beautiful devices on the market.

Even if you’re only in the market for a laptop for school that strikes a balance between cost and performance, it can’t hurt to factor in a splash of style. The Microsoft Surface Go isn’t just one of the best Windows tablets, but it’s also one of the most beautiful devices on the market. Better yet, it also gets our vote as among the best laptops for students, especially from a value perspective. Don’t be duped by the low-power components: Microsoft engineered this tablet to take on all your general schoolwork and more without breaking a sweat.

HP Envy x360 13 (2019)

This 13-inch 2-in-1 has premium build, delivers up to 9 hours of video playback and a performance that will get you through most of your schoolwork and project, all without burning a hole in your pocket.

Microsoft Surface Pro 6

The Microsoft Surface Pro 6 boasts a beautiful display, excellent performance and an impressive battery life.

The Microsoft Surface lineup has made a name for itself for being among the best Windows devices on the market, with beautiful touch displays, excellent performance and a battery life that lasts a long time. The Surface Pro 6 continues that tradition, even if it doesn’t improve much on its predecessor. You’re getting a fast Windows tablet that can effortlessly turn into a laptop with the addition of the Surface Type Cover. What does that mean for you? Simply that you can get your work done then effortlessly transition into Netflix time, making it one of the best laptops for students.

Dell Inspiron Chromebook 11 2-in-1

The Dell Inspiron Chromebook 11 2-in-1 is the best laptop for students on a very limited budget.

Most schoolwork that’s not specialized (i.e. engineering) can be done on a Chromebook. So if you aren’t anticipating to do a lot of projects that require the use of processor-hungry apps, getting a Chromebook can save you hundreds of dollars. If you’re a student on the market for one of the best laptops for students to help you with all your research, type up papers and not much else, the Dell Inspiron Chromebook 11 2-in-1 might fit the bill. Apple MacBook Air (2019)

The Apple MacBook Air has been refreshed for 2019.

Apple took the MacBook Air (2018) and gave it a bit of refresh, adding True Tone technology to its display and an even more reliable keyboard. Unfortunately, it didn't upgrade the specs, but seeing as the 2018 version already made our list of the best laptops for students, this improved version is just as deserving because of the improved hardware. But the best part is yet to come: this refresh is even cheaper, so you’re definitely getting more value for less.

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019)

The MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019) is juiced-up.

Apple’s most powerful MacBook in existence got juiced-up, which means that the 15-inch Cupertino powerhouse is faster than ever. Whether you’re doing school projects, photo editing or light gaming, this will blow you away as one of the best laptops for students. What’s behind this refresh? To start, an improved keyboard, as well as some of the latest and most powerful processors from Intel. Now, you not only have the option to take one home with an 8-core Intel Core i9, but also configure one to rock a Radeon Pro Vega 16 or Pro Vega 20 GPU to give you a boost in graphics.

The 2017 MacBook Air is at its lowest price we’ve seen before Black Friday

For those dying for one of Apple's MacBook Air laptops but lacking the four figures of disposable cash required for the latest model, Walmart is running an excellent deal as part of its early Walmart Black Friday sale.

The retailer is selling the 2017 model of the original MacBook Air design at its entry-level spec for far less than it would cost you to get the absolute latest model – even at an entry-level configuration. (What can we say? It's an expensive laptop.)

Of course, this deal isn't going to get you the latest and greatest that Apple's thin and light laptop line has to offer. However, it's certainly more than enough for the average user to get through general documents work and watching movies. Plus, it's one of the few Apple laptops still being sold in sealed boxes that have the illuminated Apple logo – an icon of a computing generation.

There's no word on how long this deal will last. You might see this year's MacBook Air drop in price on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but we doubt it will get quite this low. So, if the least amount of money spent is your priority, then this might be the way to go.

$1000 of this Alienware m17 gaming laptop is a helluva deal

If you're after an incredible deal on one of the best gaming laptops in the world, Dell has cooked up an amazing deal ahead of Black Friday.

As you can imagine, most other gaming laptops with specs like this would easily cost you well more than $2,000. So, this is indeed an incredible gaming laptop deal. It may be the previous model compared to the latest design, but it's still got much of the same hardware inside for a whole lot less.

We're told that this deal ends today at midnight local time, so act fast if you want to save a fortune on a boss gaming laptop well before Black Friday and Cyber Monday. We've tested the code and it still works at the time of writing.

This is the cheapest gaming PC we’ve seen before Black Friday you’ll actually want

PC gaming is an expensive hobby now matter how you slice it, but HP and Walmart are helping to alleviate that harsh reality a bit with this early Black Friday gaming PC deal.

As part of the early Walmart Black Friday sale, the two are selling a variation on the HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop that is no longer available on HP's own online store, but is cheaper and more powerful than the most affordable model that HP sells right now.

It's rare to find complete gaming PC systems – with the Windows 10 operating system included – for this cheap. Throw in a perfectly suitable 8GB of memory, and you're looking at a turnkey 1080p PC gaming solution.

Of course, you'll still need a keyboard, mouse and that 1080p monitor, but you could buy all three of those things for under $200, or even less with Black Friday and Cyber Monday on the horizon, and the deals having already started rolling in.

The Google Pixelbook Go gets even more useful with virtual desktops

Google has at last released Chrome OS 78 to Chromebooks, scheduled to land this week on the wide range of Chromebook laptops in the wild today, bringing some major new features.

Those new features bring Chromebooks – like Google’s brand-new, Editor’s Choice award-winning Pixelbook Go – much more in line with the more established macOS Catalina and Windows 10 operating systems (OS). For instance, the marquee change here is the introduction of virtual desktops to Chrome OS.

This allows users to hide away open apps into virtualized versions of their own desktops, creating discrete environments according to whatever they wish, whether that be projects or entertainment tasks. And, it appears to work much in the same way that it does on those competing OSes.

Send numbers to your phone, and print more easily

Google has also implemented a new feature that will allow you to more easily make phone calls while browsing the web. That is, so long as you have an Android phone connected to the same Google account as your Chromebook.

When this feature is set up, you’ll have the option to take phone numbers that appear in Google search results and on web pages and send them to your Android phone with a right-click. No longer will you have to copy the number down or dial it into your phone while looking at the Chromebook display. It will, at the very least, be a minor time saver.

Finally, Google has both reduced the number of steps required to set up printers with your Chromebook. First, pressing Ctrl + P on your keyboard brings up a new printer menu to sets that compatible printer up with a single click. Then, you can now easily set up a default printer through the Chrome OS settings pane.

Bonus: you can now also share feedback about Chrome OS directly to Google more easily. There’s a new button for the function placed directly beside the “Power off,” “Sign out” and “Lock” functions when you press and hold the power button for one second named “Feedback”.

Google’s latest Chromebook, and every Chromebook before it, just got a whole lot more useful and that much closer in functionality to its rivals.

With this, you're getting a 15-inch laptop running Windows 10, admittedly with absolutely entry-level parts, but with a 720p display and a full-sized keyboard.

This is, by far, the cheapest Windows 10 laptop we've seen this year, and comes well ahead of Black Friday 2019. Should you wait for that mega sales event to pick up a Windows 10 laptop close to this cheap? That's up to you, but this is a slick deal starting right at you – right now.

Brand new Surface Pro 7, Surface Laptop 3 will get prices slashed for Black Friday

Microsoft has announced its Black Friday plans, and they feature huge discounts on brand-new products. Like, the Surface Pro 7 and Surface Laptop 3 kind of new.

We know, it's kind of insane. We honestly didn't expect to see such huge price drops for brand-new 2019 devices. You would think that would be much more likely for last year's devices (though, those are included, too).

Here are all the deals, with buttons, so you can pop back here once they're live starting as early as the Friday before Thanksgiving, November 22. And, just to be upfront, they're all on the Microsoft Store.

The above deal starts on November 22. You can also get $300 off the Surface Pro 7 with Type Cover with 256GB of storage for a total of $999 starting November 24.

The above deal does not go live until November 28 on the Microsoft Store.

The above deal does not go live until November 22 on the Microsoft Store.

The above deal does not go live until November 28 on the Microsoft Store.

These deals are excellent, and you'd be well served by the latest Surface products available. However, if you're looking to save enough more money, it's still entirely possible that we'll see previous-generation models on sale for even cheaper. They won't be the most powerful, but for mega bargain hunters, they should do just fine.

The 16-inch MacBook Pro will have a different kind of Touch Bar

A new image of the 16-inch MacBook Pro has leaked through files within the macOS Catalina 10.15.1 release, showing a different design for the Touch Bar and Touch ID.

None other than 9to5Mac has discovered the image file within the depths of macOS 10.15.1 code, revealing Touch Bar and Touch ID modules that are separated by a cut of aluminum. As you may know, all Touch Bar MacBook Pro models to date have included the Touch ID module within the same display enclosure.

This seems like a tiny difference, but could have implications for the rest of the 16-inch MacBook Pro design, which is expected to come with a whole new keyboard. While 9to5Mac reports that this revelation confirms that the new model will also include a physical escape key – all models feature a software-based escape key – we wouldn’t buy that at least until we see another leaked image of exactly that.

16-inch MacBook Pro

The leaked image that 9to5Mac has uncovered.

A smaller redesign than we hoped for? Who knows…

The 9to5Mac team seems to be connecting this latest image leak with one of a few days prior: art icons within the macOS 10.15.1 beta code suggested the 16-inch MacBook Pro won’t be as big of a redesign as many had expect.

However, we’re not yet prepared to accept that these two leaks imply a smaller redesign than previously anticipated, as the image in the beta code leak is impossible to discern a physical escape key from the angle at which it’s presented. It could just as easily be an image artifact as it could be depicting a separate, physical escape key.

Also, how either of these leaks confirm or even affirm suspicion that this 16-inch MacBook Pro won’t be a drastic redesign is unclear.

All we know right now, with any degree of certainty, is that the 16-inch MacBook Pro could have a separated Touch Bar and Touch ID module. OK, well that and the assumption that this laptop is almost undoubtedly not coming out in October 2019.
