There’s actually a single Android app that answers all those questions. It’s Convert Everything from Fluffy Delusions, and it really earns its name by offering conversions for just about everything that can be converted.

Sure, users can easily turn to Google to convert inches to centimeters, or figure out the US dollar’s value against the Euro, but Google can’t calculate water hardness, angular acceleration, or HVAC efficiency. Convert Everything can, as well as 210 additional measurements/forces/items/sizes/etc.

The app is minimalistic, with the conversion options listed alphabetically in a scrolling list, each with basic info on when it was last used and the number of total times used. Users can choose favorites, or create and assign categories.

Know what to look for and the app is easy to use. For those not so sure, there is a basic search function for units and categories that helps cut through the clutter. Still, Convert Everything can be a bit overwhelming, and it’s tough to get in the habit of turning to an app when one has to convert hector liters to wine bottles.

The conversion units feature drop downs and text or number entry boxes. The on-screen keyboard has a nasty habit of sticking around and taking up screen real estate, including the main calculate button, but a refresh icon on the top nav serves the same function. Calculations come quick, though some, like Bitcoin value, depend on dynamic information, and require a sever connection. The static calculations, like engine RPM, can be done while the phone is offline.

There are two themes available, one with a black background and another with a white background, but that’s about it for overall options, which is just as well. It seems the developers spent their time coming up with things to convert, and then figuring out the dozens upon dozens of units and options contained therein.

While there is likely no single person that has use for all 213 conversions, or even a fraction of them, everyone will find at least two or three useful at some point. Good news for those still holding on to aging Android smartphones, as Convert Everything supports anything running Android 2.2 or later. Additional bonus points to the developers for offering a free, ad-supported version. However, the ad-free Pro version is more than worth the $2.99, given the breadth of the app.
