Microsplatter was hot yesterday, not so today. This time around, it’s dot-hatching found on the bottom half of the back of the HTC Desire 650.

The Desire 650 was said to be internally known as the A17 and was mentioned alongside what was then to be the Bolt or the HTC 10 evo. Polycarbonate may be word of the day for these Desire phones big and small, but two finishes leave our eyes caught anyways — one has a primary midnight blue with navy camera rim and logo accent and a more teal power button, the other fills the shell with white and keeps all the secondary aspects in a neon yellow.

The phone also features a new “Night Mode” to ease blue light output for sensitive eyes, a 13-megapixel main camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 5-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.8 aperture, both of them utilizing BSI sensors. Other specs include an unnamed quad-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage with microSD card support and a 5-inch 720p LCD.

Taiwan will see this phone launch early next month for the equivalent of $170 or so. The phone or its lower-end derivations may spread across the world.
