Upcoming Snapdragon 875 to be significantly faster than the competition

The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 processor has recently been tested, and its leaked AnTuTu results show that it comes with tons of power. The chipset is codenamed “Lahaina,” and its benchmarks show a score of over 847,000, which is way higher than what we saw with the Snapdragon 865.

The best results reached by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor reached 663,000 points on AnTuTu’s charts. This score was obliterated by the new Snapdragon 875, which, according to these results, is 25 percent faster than its predecessor, but that’s not all. Lahaina has been compared to other processors, and it also makes them bite the dust. For example, Apple’s latest iPhone 12 with the A14 Bionic scored 565,000. The Kirin 9000 and the Exynos 1080 managed to reach 696,000 and 693,000 scores, just enough to surpass the Snapdragon 965, but they still have lots of work to di if they want to catch up to Qualcomm’s new processor.

However, the highest score on AnTuTu’s chart still belongs to the Snapdragon 865 in the IQOO 5 Pro, as the AnTuTu team explains that RAM and storage configurations also influence the final score of a device. Rumors also suggest that OPPO has been testing an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865, which would go up to around 3.2GHz.

Other test results published by Digital Chat Station show that Qualcomm is keeping the 1+3+4 CPU core layout, with its prime core still running at 2.84GHz. This means that it’s delivering the same speeds as last year, which places it even below the 3.09GHz clock speed of the Snapdragon 865+. However, it still managed to come out on top.

Still, the Snapdragon 875 didn’t surpass Huawei’s Kirin 9000 GPU since this ended up being a battle between the Mali-G78 MP24 and Qualcomm’s custom Adreno GPU. To conclude, the second benchmark scores provided by Master Lu, place the Snapdragon 875 as the best processor, but we will still have to wait some time before we see it launch at the next Qualcomm Tech Summit.

New Huawei Mate 40 series may launch until 2021

Huawei’s future would seem bright after everything the company has announced during its latest HDC if it weren’t for the whole US-China trade war. Still, the company is trying to look for options to keep growing and keep delivering excellent products. Maybe this year’s most expected Huawei device is the upcoming Huawei Mate 40, but new rumors suggest that we will have to wait until next year to see its launch.

Many believed that Huawei would announce the new Kirin 9000 chipset at its latest appearance during IFA 2020, which would then lead to the launch of the Huawei Mate 40 series. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the first one, and the Mate 40 could make us wait until next year. According to Evan Blass, the Huawei Mate 40 would make a global launch until 2021. Still, we’re not sure if this affects the launch in every market or everything outside of China since the Mate 40 is still expected to be available in its homeland this year.

The launch of the Mate 40’s predecessor in China took place back on September 2019, with a later launch in November for the European market, expanding to more markets late in January, but that was when Huawei didn’t have so many restrictions that are now blocking several of its suppliers. Now the Huawei Mate 40 is expected to follow the same launch pattern as the Mate 30, but it will take longer for this device to be available worldwide.

The reason for this delay is not so clear, but we can believe that the Huawei ban may have something to do with it. The company will stop working with TSMC starting tomorrow, and it will lose OLED display suppliers Samsung and LG, even though they still have BOE. Now, another reason may the limited global demand, as Huawei phones haven’t received that much love outside of China after they lost Google services. However, let’s remember that these are rumors, which should always be taken with some salt.

The Huawei Mobile UK Twitter account recently posted that the new Huawei Mate 40 will be unveiled soon. Further, leakster Roland Quandt believes that the device will be presented in a live stream that may happen around mid-October. This launch would be focused on the Chinese market. These new devices are also expected to feature the new Kirin 9000, well, at least the Mate 40 Pro and the Mate 40 Pro+, while the regular Mate 40 would feature a Kirin 9000E. The Kirin 9000 is also said to be the first 5nm chipset to feature an integrated 5G modem.

Richard Yu talks about when we can expect a HUAWEI HarmonyOS smartphone

HongmengOS or HarmonyOS has been in the headlines for quite some time, ever since HUAWEI lost its license for Android and access to Google Mobile Services (GMS). It managed to mitigate the problem well by using AOSP version of Android for its recent smartphone models, and investing time, money, and effort into building its own ecosystem under the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) umbrella.

The end goal, according to various reports, is for HUAWEI to utilize its own, in-house operating system, which has been in the works for quite some time, and which was detailed at the 2019 HUAWEI Developer Conference.

According to a recent report, HUAWEI will likely unveil a new version of HarmonyOS at the upcoming Developer Conference on Thursday, September 10. It will allegedly be called HongmengOS (HarmonyOS) 2.0, and a slew of products based on it will be announced down the road.

The report is citing CEO Richard Yu in saying that a smartphone running on HarmonyOS already exists, and customers should expect one to be commercially available next year.

However, HUAWEI aims to use this operating system on more products, not just smartphones, including laptops, wearables, as well as their auto-related products.

The report also cites Richard Yu saying that “this year’s Huawei smartwatch products will also be equipped with Hongmeng OS. In the future, all of Huawei’s IoT products, including PCs, tablets, and even mobile phones, may use Hongmeng OS.

Richard Yu also talked about the difficulties and trying to overcome them, related to the next-generation Kirin 9000 chip, which will be powering the upcoming Mate 40-series of phones. TSMC is manufacturing the 5nm chip around the clock in order to deliver most, if not the entire order to HUAWEI, as September 15 is the date new US sanctions come into effect that will put an end, hopefully temporarily, to the HUAWEI and TSMC collaboration.
