Realme’s flagship GT series could go global in early May

Realme GT is the Chinese manufacturer’s flagship smartphone series. The device was launched in China recently, and it offers the Snapdragon 888 SoC under CNY 2,800, which is roughly USD 428. The smartphone has top-notch features including an AMOLED display with a high refresh rate, three rear cameras, and more. Now, the smartphone is touted to go global soon. The news comes from Realme itself.

Realme has revealed that it is prepping to launch its flagship Realme GT series in India soon. In a series called ‘Know your Realmers’, Francis Wong, Realme’s Chief Marketing Officer hosted a question and answer session for the community. He talked about the future plans of the company and more. Further, he shared some details regarding the upcoming flagship device launch in India.

When asked which phone he is using these days, the official replied, “I wish I could tell you the device I am using, it is our next flagship and it will launch as part of our 3rd-anniversary celebration. Just wait for it.” As TechRadar reports, Realme started its operations on May 4, 2018, in India. Hence, we are likely less than one month away from the launch of the Realme GT series in India. However, we do not know if the company will launch the Realme GT, the Realme GT Neo, or both.

For context, the Realme GT features a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch response rate. It also offers 100% DCI-P3 coverage. As mentioned above, the device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 SoC, paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It also comes with a complex vapor chamber for cooling. As for the optics, it sports a triple rear camera setup, which is led by a 64MP primary camera. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro camera. You also get a 16MP selfie shooter. The flagship Realme GT packs a 4,500mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging.

Realme GT could be the cheapest Snapdragon 888-powered phone at under $500

Realme recently revealed that its upcoming “Race” flagship smartphone will be named Realme GT. It will launch the device on March 4. Ahead of the official unveiling, the company has already revealed the rear design through teaser posters. Now, the company has posted another teaser, which claims that the device could be the cheapest Snapdragon 888-powered smartphone. The teaser says it will be priced under 2,999 Yuan (~$465) in the home market.

The teaser poster also reveals that Realme GT will feature a 120Hz refresh rate on its AMOLED display. It will be paired with enhanced versions of LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The smartphone is seen sporting a triple rear camera setup housed in a vertically-aligned rectangular camera module in teaser posters. It seems like the rear of the device has stripes on it for better grip. Furthermore, we get a look at the bottom where you can see a headphone jack, USB Type-C port, and speakers. Another poster has revealed that the Realme GT will come equipped with a 64MP primary camera.

The Realme GT will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. It is said to feature an OLED display a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. There could be a 64MP primary rear camera. The other two cameras on the back are tipped to be 13MP each. The device could have 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Realme GT might be launched in three storage versions like 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It is said to pack a 5,000mAh battery, which might have support for 125W fast charging. It is likely to run Realme UI 2.0 based Android 11 OS.

These tease the flagship features and its design, which is different from the previously leaked images of Realme Race. It showcases a more straightforward design language.

The Realme GT is all set to be launched in China on March 4. It is expected to go global soon after. The company will showcase its upcoming smartphone at MWC Shanghai 2021.

Realme “Race” gets named Realme GT; to launch on March 4

When Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 888 late last year, Realme was one of the first companies to reveal that it will soon announce a smartphone powered by the latest chipset. The device was also revealed to be called Realme Race. Now, Realme has announced that the “Race” smartphone will be officially unveiled under the name Realme GT. The device will make its global debut next month, on March 4.

Earlier rumors have also revealed details about the presence of a Realme Race ‘Pro’ smartphone. Similar to the vanilla model, its Pro sibling could be powered by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform. The Realme GT is said to feature an OLED display. It is likely to offer a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels, a 20:9 aspect ratio. Plus, it is rumored to offer a high refresh rate. It might sport a 64MP primary camera, which could be accompanied by two 13MP sensors.
