I’ll admit more that what I miss the most about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is not the S Pen. Sure it’s cool to have, but it isn’t a feature that I constantly rely on as much to say I can’t live without it. One feature that I can say I’ve struggled living without since having to return my unit is the lack of a Secure Folder option on current Galaxy phones, and rumors point to this changing very soon.
There’s a leaked screenshot that points to Samsung bringing Secure Folder to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge whenever these devices receive Nougat. I don’t mention the specific version of Android because this could just be a direct jump to version 7.1.1, and not the basic 7.0. Yes, you won’t have a fingerprint scanner on current Galaxy devices to give added peace of mind to this feature, but Secure Folder goes beyond just being a place to store your secret stuff. One of my favorite usage scenarios was having my company accounts all within cloned apps within Secure Folder, and not having to rely on switching users within the regular app.
It’s just to predict how soon this feature will reach the Galaxy S7, as historically Samsung will not push an update this important until after the “Next Big Thing” comes to town.
