Microsoft’s next-gen Treasure Tag pictured at FCC

Sometimes it takes a while for new mobile tech to catch on. Like with smartwatches: we had smartwatches in various incarnations for a while now, but it’s only been for the past couple years that the tech and underlying ecosystems behind these wearables made them really convenient and useful. One product type that hasn’t quite gotten there yet, and is still a bit of a tough sell for a lot of us, is the Bluetooth fob: a little battery-powered token that can be attached to objects you want to keep better track of with the help of your smartphone. We’ve seen efforts like the ...

Nokia Treasure Tag now available, as “Mini” sibling gets announced

If you are prone to losing things, and own a Bluetooth 4.0 device you keep with you at all times, listen up. Nokia’s Treasure Tag is finally available, the little gadget that you can place on any items to let you know if you are moving away from them. The device will emit an audio signal if you are moving away from your tagged item, and so will your Lumia, and the app will let you know where exactly you lost connection with your tagged item on a map. You can have up to four Treasure Tags connected to your Lumia at once. Treasure Tags will ...

Nokia finally introduces Treasure Tag Bluetooth LE fobs

We first heard of the Nokia Treasure Tag some seven months ago, and even all the way back then, its functionality was perfectly clear: a little battery-powered pendant that could be attached to your keys (or anything else you didn’t want to lose), and remained in contact with your phone by means of Bluetooth Low Energy – get too far out of range, and your phone would warn you. Nokia World rumor roundup: what to expect from Abu Dhabi

Apple’s not the only one with big news coming soon, and in just a matter of hours, Nokia’s throwing a Nokia World event in Abu Dhabi. There’s a lot to cover here, so let’s dive right in to the device that feels like it’s the nexus of this announcement, the Lumia 1520. Well, it wasn’t always the 1520 – not to us anyway. We’ve been talking about the general idea of a phablet-sized Lumia for a while, and back in August, that started taking shape as a phone codenamed Bandit. Before the month was out, ...

Nokia Treasure Tag & Lumia 1520 appear together in leaked pic

If that “Guru” is any indication, Nokia sure intends to have devices other than straight-up phones and tablets to present at tomorrow’s Nokia World announcement. Now those accessories it brings to show off look like they could finally include the Nokia Treasure Tag, a Bluetooth-based tracking device we’ve been hearing about in rumors and leaks since the sunny days of July. With just hours to go before Nokia’s event, we see the ...
