Get two free phones at MetroPCS if you switch and add a line

The costs that usually anchor us at a cellular service provider we’ve grown out of love with usually tend to be in hardware — monthly payments on our phones suddenly become a lump sum now that we’re done with our carrier.

But if you do feel like switching over to something a little more manageable in terms of service, T-Mobile prepaid brand MetroPCS is vying for your attention with some free phones. In fact, you can port up to five numbers (not from T-Mobile) and get free phones for each of them. Add a line for however many digits you port and those lines will also get free phones, too.

Of course, you’re going to have to pick from a pool of phones and not just point at any one you want.

Beware that you do pay sales tax on anything you pick up.

Alcatel Fierce 4 with Marshmallow starts at $69 on MetroPCS, coming to T-Mobile soon

Instead of simply sending over-the-air Android 6.0 updates to their late 2015-released Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL phones running 5.1 out the box, MetroPCS and T-Mobile appear to have decided to pick up brand new Fierce 4 models.Available at the nation’s leading “Un-carrier” starting “this fall”, and up for grabs already at participating stores of T-Mo’s prepaid daughter operator, the Alcatel Fierce 4 however doesn’t feel very new.In fact, besides pre-loaded Marshmallow goodies, which should ...

Windows 10 Mobile Insider program opens its doors to quartet of non-Lumia phones

As Microsoft continues to drag its feet in getting full, public Windows 10 Mobile updates rolling for Windows Phone 8.1 handsets, its Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview program remains your best, if only option for getting a head start in using the company’s latest software on some older hardware. Much like Windows Phone itself, though, access to the Insider program has been largely been a Lumia-only affair. Last spring, we finally started to see that change as the HTC One M8 for Windows became ...

Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL with Windows 10 now available from T-Mobile

When the original Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL variant debuted on T-Mobile and MetroPCS last fall, the affordable 5.5-inch Android understandably went unnoticed by most smartphone consumers, as it simply faced too much direct opposition, including from higher-profile brands, to stand out from the pack. But the Windows 10 Mobile remake is a whole different story, stealing the spotlight before it even went official, then ...

T-Mobile could start sales of the affordable Windows 10 Mobile Alcatel Onetouch Fierce XL this week

Windows 10 Mobile may be the future of Microsoft’s smartphone platform, but for the moment users have precious few hardware options for enjoying the new OS. That’s left third-party manufacturers to pick up the slack, and ever since last year we’ve been looking forward to the carrier debut of the Windows 10 ...

Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL rendered in Windows and Android flavors en route to T-Mobile
