Somehow, Xiaomi has done it again. China’s low-cost Android device champion returns to doing what it knows best after also hogging the local high-end spotlight, incredibly charging the measly equivalent of $103 (and up) for an all-metal, 2.5D curved 5-incher with fingerprint support.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4 substantially improves on its already impressive dirt-cheap predecessor in a number of key departments, looking extremely polished for that irresistible price point, packing at least Snapdragon 430 processing power, as well as 2GB RAM.
A standard configuration with the aforementioned specs, plus 16GB expandable storage, will go on sale next week at 699 Yuan, alongside a CNY 899 ($133) “high-end” variant upping the ante to a Snapdragon 625 SoC, 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM.
Both models promise to keep the lights on and on, thanks to 4,100 mAh battery capacity, while sporting 5-inch Full HD screen resolution, 13 and 5MP cameras, Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 atop, 8.9mm profiles, and 4G VoLTE connectivity.
But wait, there’s more, in case you want to pay even less. Namely, CNY 499, or roughly $74, for a non-fingerprint-reading Xiaomi Redmi 4A with HD display resolution, a Snapdragon 425 processor under the hood, 2GB RAM, 16GB local digital hoarding room, and 3,120 mAh battery. And we thought the Lumia 640 XL was a steal…
