Okay HTC, we’ve got the phone, now give us the marketing

One of my favorite shows of all time is Joss Whedon’s Firefly. Like most of Whedon’s shows, a passionate fan base quickly emerged. Unfortunately, it was cancelled after just one season, and none of the networks wanted to pick it up for a second. Why? The numbers weren’t that great. The characters, the sets, and the story were all fantastic. So why did it do so poorly? Even

Here’s why I’m getting the HTC One versus the Samsung Galaxy S 5

If you’re looking to buy a phone and the one at the top of your list has been around for a while (the Nexus 5, for example) you could easily take it for a spin. For devices that have just been released (or are still awaiting release from certain carriers), or if you’ll be ordering your phone online, going “hands on” before pulling out your wallet may be a luxury that you cannot afford, or may be impossible depending the part of the world you call home. In those situations, sites likes Pocketnow try and take the guess work ...

HTC One M8 (2014) review: an elegant smartphone for a more civilized age

The down side to success is the pressure to keep on succeeding. HTC’s 2013 flagship, the original HTC One (M7), defined “successful” in nearly every way. We awarded it one of the highest review scores we’d ever bestowed on a smartphone, a reception mirrored by most of the tech community. “Bravo HTC,” we said of its stellar industrial design and innovative new features. Our opinion stayed

2014 HTC One hands-on video leaks early, fully exposes phone

March 25 is the day HTC is expected to release the 2014 follow-up for the HTC One, and even without today’s leak, we were wondering what else is there that HTC can say in order to surprise us. The phone, and its features, related aspects, have been leaked extensively over the past couple of weeks, but today we’re seeing a full 14-minute video hands-on of the yet unannounced device. It is German, so if you don’t happen to speak the language, you’ll have to settle for the video footage itself. Apparently the phone is being called “HTC One” and not ...

Purpose of dual cameras detailed in leaked ad which confirms The All New HTC One moniker

The purpose of dual cameras on the upcoming HTC One has been a topic of debate ever since we first heard the rumors, and seen the leaks depicting the imaging system and arrangement on the back. Some were betting on 3D, while others, including us, were convinced that HTC will try to improve on overall image quality as well as focus. A leaked ad, seen below, details the purpose of dual cameras, while at the same time confirming The All New HTC One denomination of the upcoming 2014 flagship. Apparently, the main raison d’être of the secondary camera is to choose focus. Nokia (and, more ...

All New HTC One teaser no. 3 posted by manufacturer, focuses on the camera

One of the main selling points (and points of critique at the same time) of the HTC One was the “UltraPixel” camera, with a smaller sensor (of four-megapixels), but with a large physical dimension, allowing for better low-light performance. HTC has already published not one, but two teasers for the upcoming One follow-up, and the third one just recently landed. It might answer some of our questions on whether the next One will sport an UltraPixel camera, or not. Of course, HTC could be misleading us, but “the new HTC One has added”… a secondary camera? You ...

2014 HTC One leaked again in real life pictures

Last we heard about the upcoming 2014 HTC flagship, we were presented with a couple of high-res images, backed up by a partial press render of the alleged phone showing off dual-cameras (and duotone, dual flashes) on the back. The leaks seem to continue with what appears to be a complete gallery featuring the purported HTC One follow-up (coming from China, hence the China Mobile carrier branding on the back of the device). You will not only be able to see almost every angle of The All New HTC One ...
