Huawei unveils top holiday deals on phones, tablets and wearables at many third-party sellers

With the hot new Mate 9 powerhouse phablet not quite ready for US primetime yet, Huawei gadget enthusiasts are left scrambling for the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday savings on older and/or humbler products like the Honor 8 phone, Fit smartband, Watch, MediaPad M3 tablet and MateBook 2-in-1 laptop.

While the Chinese device manufacturer doesn’t appear to have any plans for looming holiday deals offered directly through its American e-store, we’re happy to bring you a neat collection of third-party retail promos with various start and end dates today.

Already, the recently unveiled Huawei Fit is available on Amazon, Best Buy and Newegg for $99.99, down 30 bucks from its regular $130 price point. The convertible Windows 10-based MateBook tablet is $200 off list over at Microsoft until December 2 with a Portfolio Keyboard bundled in, or $300 off when bought alongside a MatePen and MateDock in addition to the aforementioned keyboard.

Then you have pretty routine discounts of up to $200 on “select” Huawei Watch styles at Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, Google, Target, and B&H also valid through December 2. Between November 25 and 28 only, the just-launched MediaPad M3 Android slate goes $50 off on Amazon to $249, and last but certainly not least, the already affordable Honor 8 flagship phone will set you back $300 instead of $400 with 32GB storage, or $350 in a 64 gig config at Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, and B&H.

Huawei Fit Quick Look: Fitness meets elegance

If there’s one thing that Huawei proved last year is it could make a damn fine smartwatch, and this year, fitness takes the stage. You’ve heard me say it time and time over, Android Wear and fitness don’t really match, unless you talk about the Polar M600. We actually don’t blame Huawei for just skipping the drama of trying to figure that out, and are actually pleasantly surprised by the approach with the Huawei Fit.

We were recently invited to a private event in NYC to showcase the company’s Holiday gift offerings that include all of its latest and greatest products, which included some of our favorites like the Huawei Matebook and the Honor 8. It also served for us to learn about the new Huawei Fit, which blends the elegance of the Huawei Watch design on a sleeker chasis and a more efficient approach.

Stylish Huawei Fit activity tracker monitors your heart rate for $130

It looks like Huawei doesn’t want anything to distract us from the headliner of today’s Munich hardware announcement event, voluntarily letting a few images of the Fit wearable slip yesterday, and now fully unveiling (minimal fanfare and all) the “international” Honor Watch S1 counterpart.

As always, US tech consumers will be asked to pay a small premium compared to folks over in China, with the Huawei Fit slated to roll out across retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy and Newegg in a matter of hours at $129.99, up from the $104-equivalent 700 Yuan.

That’s still considerably cheaper than the Huawei Watch we’re left waiting to be upgraded, and the main difference is build quality. Don’t get us wrong, this watch-styled circular fitness tracker is by no means ugly… for a low-cost tracker, but it arguably leans closer to a Pebble Time Round rival than an Apple Watch “killer.”

Expect a relatively low-res screen to be confirmed and further detailed at Mate 9’s introduction, which will however do wonders for battery life, estimated at around six days. Since there’s no built-in GPS or cellular support in tow, the key selling points of the Huawei Fit include (allegedly) accurate heart rate monitoring from your wrist, step counting, multi-sport mode capabilities, and sleep analysis.

All in all, not bad for an affordable basic wearable with (some) smartwatch functionality. But the best from Huawei is yet to come.
