Sprint LG G Flex press render gets leaked

The Samsung Galaxy Round turned out to be more of a “proof of concept” device, with limited availability. Then the LG G Flex was announced, this time, with the right curvature — but it all comes down to personal preference after all — and we’ve heard news back last month that the phone is expected to be on the line-up of most US carriers, including AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile. On that very same note, you can see above an alleged press render of the LG G ...

Google Nexus 5 camera, Apple’s iBeacon, LG G Flex comments & more – Pocketnow Daily Recap

Pocketnow Daily gets an average of 300 to 500 comments a day, and sometimes even a thousand. We’d like to thank you all for participating in our question of the day, and we love your feedback so much, that we decided that since we can’t respond to ever single one of your comments, we should at least feature a couple in a weekly video. This is the Pocketnow Daily Recap. Since we only have 3 minutes on every Daily video to go through the hottest news, the weekly recap will serve as a more extensive discussion where we also include your thoughts on the subject. Sadly, for the sake of ...

The advantages of carrying an oversized smartphone

The big phones only get bigger, it seems. We’ve been clamoring over gigantic phones since the original Galaxy Note announcement, and possibly even before that over phones which are now comparably quite small. Personally, I’ve been carrying large phones since January 2012, not long after the original Galaxy Note made its way stateside. And I’ve been back and forth between loving and hating giant phones ever ...

LG G Flex vs Galaxy Note 3 (Video)

Pitting smartphones against the Galaxy Note 3 usually goes something like this: “well, x phone is nice, but it doesn’t have the utility, multitasking, S Pen, or horsepower of the Note 3. So there.” Thanks to its substantial feature load, Samsung’s juggernaut has remained the essential master of the phablet space ever since its launch, leaving many would-be competitors in the dust when they show up with a big screen and not much else. That’s not the case this time around.

Around the bend: the details behind the LG G Flex’s curve

Curved displays on smartphones are finally a reality, and I couldn’t be happier. The last few months have brought us not only the Samsung Galaxy Round, but the LG G Flex as well, each putting its own unique spin on the idea of smartphones built around displays made from flexible OLED substrates. And really, my interest is less about curved phones being more practical, or ergonomically superior, and a simple matter of geeking-out: I’m going to get excited when someone’s trying ...

Pocketnow Weekly 073: LG G Flex and Moto G chat with MKBHD

Earlier today, while we were busy hanging with some of you fine folks on the latest episode of the Pocketnow Live, a lot was going down elsewhere. Our LG G Flex review was in the final polishing stages; our own Taylor Martin was kicking out some coverage on Motorola’s mold-breaking budget wonder, the Moto G; and friend of the show Marques Brownlee was interviewing Dennis Woodside, CEO of Motorola Mobility. All that activity demands a followup, of course, and what better venue for an end-of-week wrapup ...

LG G Flex review: the smartphone of the future

“There’s nothing flat about you.” Depending on your gender, self-image, and the cultural values where you live, that quote (from Dr. Ramchan Woo, LG’s Head of Mobile Product Planning) could be taken any number of ways. But applied to the whole of humanity in the most general sense possible, it’s true: we’re a race of rather rounded organisms. Yet the smartphones we carry with us to communicate with our curvy compatriots are almost invariably flat: boxy, right-angled handhelds that often pay little more than passing attention to ergonomics. That’s ...

LG G Flex goes global this week

When LG announced the G Flex on October 28, the self-healing and bendable phone became available on its home market, in South Korea, with no information regarding international/global plans. However, today, LG has officially made its plans for the G Flex public, and we’re looking at a global availability soon. Singapore and Hong Kong (pre-orders on December 8 and December 13, respectively) are the first ones to get the device, starting this week. “Before the end of the year”, the G Flex will ...

LG predicts flexible phones will account for 40% of the market by 2018

The LG G Flex is not only self-healing, to a certain degree, as we’ve demonstrated in our G Flex torture test, but it also has another neat trick up its sleeve, which basically gives the phone its name: it bends. As demonstrated, the G Flex is able to bend both positively (in the direction of the curve) and negatively (in the opposite direction) to a certain degree in order to withstand real-life torture challenges. According to LG, flexible smartphones are a big deal; the South Korean ...

Is the LG G Flex really self-healing? Here’s the real-world test (Video)

If you’ve been paying attention to the Pocketnow crew the past few months, you’ll know that one of us is somewhat enamored of the LG G Flex. We spent much of this week’s podcast talking about our week with the unusual phablet, its curved casing a breath of excitement in an otherwise stolid and straitlaced world of right angles. But there’s more to the G Flex than the subtle hint of bananaphone in its ...
