HTC announces the plastic-bodied One E8

Last Thursday, we saw HTC seemingly confirm a smartphone we’d been keeping an eye on for the past several weeks, the model we’ve been talking about as the M8 Ace. HTC China hosted some pages related to a contest for the phone, but we didn’t see any corresponding launch announcement. Had someone jumped the gun? And were we ever going to learn of a more formal name for this phone than the One “Vogue” or “Fashion Edition,” not really sure if ...

LG G3 first look, PadFone X AT&T impressions, Galaxy S5 Active surprise & more | Pocketnow Weekly 098

New York City is a fine place to sneak a peek at some unreleased devices, and that’s just what we did this week with the LG G3 event (streamed from London to an airy presentation room in a Chelsea skyscraper) and AT&T’s ASUS PadFone X announcement (held on a posh rooftop lounge near the Flatiron). At one of those events, Daniel Bader of MobileSyrup was our seat neighbor, so we thought we’d invite him on this week’s podcast to discuss the more globally significant of these high-profile launches.Join us as we share our impressions of the LG G3: how it stands on ...

HTC confirms One M8 Ace as page goes live for this “Fashion Edition” smartphone

Yesterday we ran across a bunch of pics of the rumored HTC One M8 Ace, a cousin to the One M8 for China that makes a few hardware changes, like dropping the Duo Camera for a 13MP shooter. The language barrier made digesting that find a little difficult, but the images all looked very polished, as if pulled from official promotional material. Apparently there’s a good reason for that, as the source for that imagery has now emerged, and it’s HTC’s own site.HTC China appears to have foregone any big event ...

HTC, what ever happened to the ‘less is more’ mentality?

The last few years have not been the best for HTC. Its market share, revenues, and profits have all been sliding while its largest competitor, Samsung, has been raking in more sales, profits, and the like. Such has been the case for most smartphone manufacturers (who are not Apple and Samsung, of course), but HTC’s journey, in particular, makes for an interesting story. Despite its several fumbles and missteps since 2011, it still has a massive, die-hard following around its smartphones. Whether it’s due to the elegant hardware and design, ultra high standards in build quality, ...

HTC M8 Ace revealed by alleged leaked images

We’ve seen previous images of the “plastic” HTC 2014 flagship, and the phone depicted in those doesn’t seem to resemble the device in today’s leaked set of stills. You’ll have to stay skeptical about these images, as neither they, nor the source, can be verified. That being said, the polycarbonate HTC M8 Ace seems to follow previous rumors and leaks, so we might be looking at something ...

HTC M8 Ace shows up in possible render with new launch name suggestion

Over the course of the past week, a bunch of new information has arrived concerning rumors of a new HTC One-series model, the M8 Ace. First we got a render that was supposedly confirmed by a second source, and then we saw China’s TENAA publish official pics of a phone that sure seemed to match the initial leak that arrived all the way back at the start of April. We start this week off with a ...

New leaked images show us a clearer HTC One M8 Ace

This hasn’t necessarily been the best year for HTC. The HTC One M8 is definitely one of our top smartphone pics for this year, but sadly we still don’t have a clear picture as to how well it has performed in the market. That hasn’t stopped HTC though, as we’ve seen new launches of products like the HTC One mini 2, and we have some additional devices being rumored, like the one we’ll talk about. Today we find some more leaked images of the HTC One M8 Ace, which resemble some of the previous leaks that famous tipster
