HTC One Max 2 details emerge, complete with Snapdragon 805 mention

Last year’s HTC One line-up consisted of the One (M7), One Mini, and the One Max. We’re pretty certain that we’re looking at the same trio for 2014 as well, and, with the One (M8) and the One Mini 2 already out, rumors are starting to build up around the One Max successor. Some refer to it as the M8 Prime, but we prefer to go with the HTC One Max 2 tentative denomination.According to the report, we should be expecting a phone that looks “exactly” like the One M8, which is really no surprise. Said device will allegedly no longer feature a fingerprint scanner, ...

HTC puts One M8 Prime on ice?

All of a sudden, HTC’s One family has started looking like it’s about to get quite crowded. We saw HTC China go official with the phone we’ve been tracking as the One M8 Ace, and new rumors arrived to suggest that we’d be seeing an HTC One M8 Plus, as well as a One M8 Advance, launch late this summer. And in addition to all of that, there have been those rumors of an M8 ...

Surface Pro 3, One M8 Prime & Ali Spagnola, ringtone artist | Pocketnow Weekly 097

They’re not just summoned from whole cloth, and not everyone can afford the Vienna Boys Choir, so where do ringtones come from? A great many artists and musicians, actually, and we talk to a particularly talented one on today’s podcast. Ali Spagnola joins us in the feature segment to share tales of music making, drinking games, and just how one gets banned from Michigan – and on the way we learn exactly how a pair of ringtones called “Radiation” ...

HTC One M8 Prime render suggests camera won’t be flush

Last week’s launch of the HTC One mini 2 brought us a brief reprieve from the One M8 Prime rumors that had been otherwise dominating chatter about the manufacturer, but now we’re right back in the saddle, ready to start talking about what’s coming from this rumored upgrade to the One M8. Yesterday we looked at some possible specs and the claim that the phone could be constructed from some pretty high-end materials. Today we’re ...

HTC One M8 Prime’s “coolest feature” may be the unusual material it’s made of

With last year’s One, HTC really made a point to place design, material choice, and build quality at the forefront of its smartphone offerings; say what you will about how wise a choice UltraPixel may have been, but it’s hard to argue that the One (or any of its successors) is anything other than a phone that looks and feels great. Where does HTC go from here, though? Is there any way to bump things up a notch and make a premium-feeling smartphone even more desirable? That’s what we’re wondering about this morning, as a series of new

Pocketnow Weekly 096: phone lasers, remixes, and the false promise of “Prime”

What exactly qualifies as a “remix?” How deluded do you have to be to believe in all these “Prime” rumors? Why are we so transfixed by the notion of lasers on smartphones, and so easily taken in by a smartphone commercial, if it’s shot like a trailer for Inception? We tackle these questions, and the biggest announcement section in the history of the podcast, in episode 096 of the Pocketnow Weekly. No, that’s not bragging – it’s just an unavoidable symptom of a month packed with unboxings, hands-ons, product launches, and reviews (both ...

“HTC One Remix” rumored for Verizon, but what the heck is it?

What’s next in the running from HTC and its smartphones? We’ve been talking a lot about a One M8 mini/One mini 2 that could be right around the corner, and a little further down the line we might get some kind of M8 Prime with a higher-res 2K display than the 1080p panel currently on the One M8. We’ve also got a possible new Butterfly and

HTC M8 Prime mentioned by leak, rumored to be in the works

We’ve heard about the HTC M8 Ace, and we were wondering just what exactly it might be; however, according to the rumor mill, it might be a One variant of some sort, which would be cheaper (because of the possible plastic shell), but retain the Snapdragon 801 processor from the One (M8), and a five-inch Full HD form factor for its display. The latest from @evleaks hints that the HTC M8 Prime, which he just mentioned, is the phone to ...
