MediaTek unveils Dimensity 1000C 5G chip, goes inside T-Mobile LG Velvet

Recently, MediaTek has been pushing their Dimensity line for 5G SoCs but, it hasn’t really made it outside of the Chinese market. Well, the company just released the Dimensity 1000C and according to them, it is “developed and tailored” for the US market. It’s an octa-core chip, powered by their Mali G57 GPU and it supports up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It allows for both 5G and Dual SIM 5G, 120Hz displays, and HDR10+ standard. Some of the other feature’s their focusing on include AV1 HDR streaming on Netflix, AV1 video streaming on YouTube and they’re working on Twitch support. It’ll be available on the T-Mobile Variant for the LG Velvet.

Motorola has teased the upcoming Moto RAZR 5G in a new poster

Motorola announced that we would be getting the Moto RAZR on September 9th but, they also announced that they would be hosting a separate event for the Chinese market on September 10th. Well, speaking on that Chinese Event, they just posted a new teaser that shows off the phone. The poster was posted to Weibo, and it has the date 9/10 written down with 7 different RAZRs. Now, this poster doesn’t really show much other than the chin of the phone and the displays which are lit up but, it also looks like there’s no new surprises here. We’re expecting the RAZR 5G to bring the Snapdragon 765G, a 2800 mAh battery and a 48MP main camera. We’ll keep you posted if we get more leaks before the launch date.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE leak reveals all key specs, separate 4G and 5G variants

We have more leaks of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Lite, S20 FE or, whatever the actual name for this thing is going to be. Now, a new report from WinFuture gives us, pretty much everything there is to know when it comes to specs and even some renders of the phone. It’ll apparently be powered by the Exynos 990 for the LTE variant, and by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 for the 5G model. It has a similar design to the Galaxy S20, a 6.5in FHD+ display running at 120Hz, 8GB of RAM ,128GB of storage and a 4500 mAh battery. It will also bring a triple camera array at the back that consists of a 12MP main camera, a 12MP wide-angle, and a 12MP telephoto that offers 3x optical zoom as well as a 32MP selfie shooter. It might come in Blue, Green, Lavender, Orange, Red and White color variants according to this renders and we should expect it to be announced by the end of this month, with it being available in October.

OnePlus 8T leak reveals almost everything about the upcoming phone

A couple of days ago we got a render that allegedly belonged to the OnePlus 8T but, it didn’t really show anything. But, according to these new leaks, OnePlus will give us a similar design but they’ll really focus on the internals. Just keep in mind that this is the 8T and not the 8T Pro so we should compare it to the regular OnePlus 8. Apparently, it’s codenamed “Kebab” and it’ll rock a 6.55in AMOLED display running at 120Hz instead of the 90Hz we got with the 8. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage but we’ll probably get other variants with more RAM and more storage considering this is OnePlus. Now, when it comes to the cameras, we’ll reportedly get a 48MP main sensor but this will be an upgraded and different sensor than the one on the OnePlus 8, it also brings a 16MP wide-angle lens, and my favorites, a 5MP macro and a 2MP portrait lens. The launch should happen some time in the following months and, we don’t have word on the battery, charging capabilities and price tag just yet.

Story of the day:

iPhone 12 Pro leaks reveal camera layout with LiDAR sensor and new color variant

There’s been multiple reports from trusted sources like Ming Chi Kuo, saying that we’d be getting mmWave 5G iPhone 12 models, at least on the Pros. And, we also know that these variants are the cause of some of the delays. Now, we have a conflicting report from Fast Company where they claim that only one iPhone 12 Pro Max variant will support mmWave 5G. The report mentions that “only the largest phone in the line has enough room inside for the special antenna design required for mmWave and the larger battery needed to accommodate the significant power drive from this type of 5G. They also said that only the Pro Max in the US, Korea and Japan will support mmWave 5G”. The other variant for the 12 Pro Max will only support sub 6GHz as other countries aren’t ready for mmWave just yet. This also means that the 12 Pro Max will most likely get a price hike, at least in these countries, even if Apple is removing the accessories from the box. We’ll see what we get.

Additionally, the report also gives us a glimpse of the device in a total of six color options that include a bright shade of red, lavender and dark blue among others.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Lite and S20 FE may launch soon

We have received new information that makes us believe that Samsung will be launching two new devices pretty soon. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Lite has appeared on a couple of official Samsung websites, while the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition was seen in new certifications.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Lite was the first device to appear in the official Samsung websites for the US and Germany, as part of the troubleshooting tutorial for the Gear 360 camera and its app. The Fan Edition was then certified at the Bluetooth SIG and Wi-Fi Alliance in three different versions, the first one with 4G connectivity, while the other two came with Sub-6 and mmWave 5G support.

The first time Samsung launched a Fan Edition device was back in July 2017, when the company renamed the explosive Galaxy Note 7 and sold it in the South Korean market. However, these new Galaxy S20 FE will most likely be available in more markets.

We could soon see the arrival of the new Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. The Galaxy S10 Lite’s successor was recently leaked in a 360-degree video, and now we get new rumors suggesting color options and the possible pricing for the device.

According to the latest report from DeaINTech, the new Samsung Galaxy S20 FE will arrive with a $1,148.65 price tag. However, this pricing is set in Canadian dollars, meaning that it may arrive with an $876 price in the US. According to rumors, the phone will have six color options, including Navy, Lavender, Sky Green, Red, White, and Orange. These are the same color variants leaked by Evan Blass on Friday.

The new Galaxy 20 Fan Edition will be available in both 4G and 5G variants, depending on the market. It is also supposed to be almost as large as the Galaxy S20+, but with larger bezels and a smaller display that’s said to measure 6.5-inches. Its main camera could include a 12MP primary shooter with a 12MP ultra-wide and an 8MP telephoto sensor. A 4,500mAh battery and IP68 rating is also expected to come in this phone that may arrive in October.

Samsung website namedrops the upcoming Galaxy S20 FE and its 5G variant

Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch a more affordable version of the Galaxy S20 soon that will go by the name Galaxy S20 FE, where FE likely stands for Fan Edition. After appearing in a benchmark listing and in the form of leaked renders, the Galaxy S20 FE has now been mentioned on the official Samsung website, confirming that the ‘budget flagship’ is on its way.

The YouTube Premium promotional page of the Samsung Bulgaria website mentions a list of devices that will come bundled with 4 months of YouTube Premium. In the list of eligible smartphones, two devices caught our attention – the Galaxy S20 FE and Galaxy S20 FE 5G. It appears that Samsung will launch two variants of the Galaxy S20 FE, one that supports 5G and one without it.

As per the leaked renders, the Galaxy S20 FE will feature three rear cameras at the back and a single selfie camera housed in a centrally-positioned hole punch, much like the rest of its Galaxy S20 siblings. As per an alleged Geekbench listing, the Galaxy S20 FE will be powered by the Exynos 990 processor, while some regions might get a different variant with a Qualcomm chipset at its heart.

Speaking of Samsung, There’s been a bunch of rumors on the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. So far, we’ve gotten some leaks on both Exynos and Snapdragon variants, as well as some leaked specs like the 6.4in display running at 120Hz, the 8GBs of RAM and the 4500 mAh battery. We also got a render of the front from Evan Blass but, now we get some full blown CAD renders of the whole device from OnLeaks. It brings bigger bezels than the S20 but, they’re still pretty slim. New executive order gives ByteDance 90 days to sell TikTok

Let’s talk about the whole Tik Tok ban situation. Last week we covered how the President signed an executive order, giving Tik Tok 45 days to sell their US operations to a company like Microsoft or they would be banned, possibly being forced out of the App Store and Play Store globally. This morning, the President signed a new executive order, giving them 90 days to sell their operations. According to him, there is credible evidence that ByteDance might take actions that threaten to impar the United States security. This new order gives Tik Tok to iron out whatever their plan is, whether that is selling to Microsoft or taking legal action. Apple also presented their concerns about the WeChat ban but, they just dismissed them and the 45 day order seems to still be on for Tencent.

New iPhone 12 lineup could look just like the iPhone 4

And, let’s start talking about Apple as, there’s a lot to cover today. We have a new gallery of pictures of iPhone 12 dummies from a tipster on Facebook. We’ve gotten dummies on two occasions prior to this but, these are probably the realest-looking ones. On these new images we can see the 4 different models, two with dual camera and two with the triple camera array. As expected, they all look pretty boxy, reminiscent of the iPhone 4 and the newer iPad Pros. All of these dummies are for case makers so we only get to see the back of them. Some of the things we’re also expecting that aren’t included here are the LiDAR sensor and some smaller notches for the Pro models. We’re expecting these phones to come out some time in October and November so, we’ll keep you posted.

Epic Games CEO calls Apple a middleman that separates gamers from game creators

On Friday we covered how Epic Games is taking on both Apple and Google and suing them for anti-competitive practices due to the high fees they put on developers. Well, you won’t believe who’s the next company denouncing Apple, it’s Facebook. On Saturday, Facebook announced that businesses and creators can host paid online events to help them make money and survive during the pandemic. What’s really good about this is that Facebook is letting these people keep 100% of the money they make from this events, saying that they won’t be charging any fees for at least a year. However, this is apparently only happening on Android phones as Apple won’t let them achieve this goal. According to them, they asked Apple to waive their infamous 30% tax or allow them to use Facebook Pay so that they could absorb the costs and let creators keep the revenue but Apple dismissed both of these requests, meaning people who do this on Apple devices will only keep 70% of the money. Facebook will now disclose this issue with users, if you make a payment on an Android device it will say “Facebook doesn’t take a fee from this purchase” but if you do it from an iPhone, it’ll say “Apple takes 30% of this purchase”. We’ll see how Apple moves as, this means there’s three people on their back, Spotify, Epic and Facebook.

Story of the day:

Epic could lose all access to Apple’s App Store and app development tools

Speaking of Epic being on Apple’s back, it looks like Apple has decided to strike back. According to a new PDF from Epic’s Court Filing, Apple told Epic that by August 28th, they will be cutting off Epic’s access to “all development tools necessary to create software for Apple’s platforms” and, this even includes the Unreal Engine which Epic offers to third party developers. Apple sent out a letter to Epic where they said they reviewed the situation and have found several violations to the Apple Developer Program License Agreement, therefore their account will be terminated if these violations aren’t cured in 14 days. Epic is currently asking the court to prevent Apple from taking “any adverse action” which includes terminating Apple’s License to the Apple Developer Program as well as modifying the Fortnite code. They’re also working on a solution as, Unreal Engine doesn’t really violate any of the terms like they did with the Fortnite app, and it shouldn’t be removed as it will also affect third-party developers. As for right now, Fortnite remains banned, an Epic has to work something now during these 14 days unless the court rules something against Apple. Galaxy S20 FE leak gives us our first glimpse of Samsung’s next budget flagship

In the past few weeks, we’ve come across multiple reports regarding an upcoming budget flagship from Samsung called the Galaxy S20 FE, where the ‘FE’ likely stands for ‘Fan Edition.’ Now, the ever-reliable tipster Evan Blass has shared a render (via XDA-Developers) of what he claims to be the Galaxy S20 FE.

From the front, the device looks more similar to the mid-range Galaxy A51 rather than a Galaxy S20 variant. But that is not surprising as the Galaxy S20 FE will be cheaper than the vanilla Galaxy S20, which means Samsung is cutting some corners in the aesthetics as well as the internal hardware department.

As per previous leaks, the Galaxy S20 FE will pack a 120Hz display and its IP68-certified build will offer water and dust resistance as well. A 4,500mAh battery will reportedly keep the lights on. If the leaks turn out to be true, Samsung Galaxy S20 FE will hit the shelves in October and will follow in the footsteps of the Galaxy S10 Lite.
