Google Store drops Huawei Watch

These days at the Google Store, you’ll find Android Wear smartwatches from Nixon, Michael Kors, Polar and, yes, Motorola.

No Huawei Watch, though. The weekend went without Huawei’s big release in wearables at the Google Store, which means that you’ll have to find it and the Huawei Watch for Women (Jewel and Elegant) somewhere else.

The development comes as manufacturers await the release of Wear 2.0 and as Huawei considers creating a Tizen-powered wearable. The smartwatch market has been slow to grow for manufacturers to sustain frequent hardware updates.

Ironically, the Huawei Watch Charging Cradle is still available to buy for $39.99.

Amazon offers great savings on select Fitbit, Garmin, Withings and Samsung wearables

While so many major US retailers have been kind enough to share, preview and detail their full Black Friday deal collections well in advance of the year’s biggest shopping days, Amazon kept almost everything a secret until its discount avalanche began earlier today.

Hopefully, you saved a couple of hundreds of dollars in the bank after stocking up on VR gear and home entertainment products, because that Sony Xperia XZ goes perfectly with a $200 black leather Huawei Watch. Or a $149 Samsung Gear Fit 2, marked down from $180.

For an extremely limited time, you can also buy some stylish Withings smart trackers on the cheap, including a $70 Activité Pop and $90 Activité Steel. Or you can settle for an arguably uglier Withings Go, available at just $40 after a massive $40 rebate.

But if it’s a low-cost wearable from an early market leader you prefer, there are Fitbits on sale setting you back as little as $69 (the Flex 2), and as “much” as $150 (Blaze). $99 gets you the Fitbit Alta (previously $130), while the Charge 2 goes for $129 instead of $150.

Last but not least, check out the $40 Garmin Vivofit, $70 Vivosmart HR, and $99 and up Vivomove, sold at $10 to $80 discounts. ‘Tis the season to procure ultra-affordable wearable gear!

Huawei unveils top holiday deals on phones, tablets and wearables at many third-party sellers

With the hot new Mate 9 powerhouse phablet not quite ready for US primetime yet, Huawei gadget enthusiasts are left scrambling for the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday savings on older and/or humbler products like the Honor 8 phone, Fit smartband, Watch, MediaPad M3 tablet and MateBook 2-in-1 laptop.

While the Chinese device manufacturer doesn’t appear to have any plans for looming holiday deals offered directly through its American e-store, we’re happy to bring you a neat collection of third-party retail promos with various start and end dates today.

Already, the recently unveiled Huawei Fit is available on Amazon, Best Buy and Newegg for $99.99, down 30 bucks from its regular $130 price point. The convertible Windows 10-based MateBook tablet is $200 off list over at Microsoft until December 2 with a Portfolio Keyboard bundled in, or $300 off when bought alongside a MatePen and MateDock in addition to the aforementioned keyboard.

Then you have pretty routine discounts of up to $200 on “select” Huawei Watch styles at Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, Google, Target, and B&H also valid through December 2. Between November 25 and 28 only, the just-launched MediaPad M3 Android slate goes $50 off on Amazon to $249, and last but certainly not least, the already affordable Honor 8 flagship phone will set you back $300 instead of $400 with 32GB storage, or $350 in a 64 gig config at Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, and B&H.

Newegg jumps on Black Friday preview bandwagon with a number of enticing mobile deals

Not a big fan of computer hardware and software anymore? Not a problem, as Newegg also sells smartphones, tablets and intelligent wearable products at pretty great prices these days. More so around the holidays, of course, with the e-tailer’s Black Friday 2016 deal extravaganza detailed on the heels of similar Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target and Staples reveals.

Interested in a $250 ZTE Axon 7 Mini, $180 Asus ZenFone 3 Laser or perhaps an age-old, never-cheaper $180 32GB Apple iPad 4, but not really looking forward to spend the day (or night) after Thanksgiving furiously refreshing Newegg’s overloaded home webpage?

No need to wait so very long, as discounts will in fact be valid from next Monday, November 21, all the way through Saturday, November 26, at 11:59 pm PT. Quantities are obviously limited, though, and “subject to availability”, so be sure you check the Huawei Watch at $200 and up, or $220 ZTE Axon Pro off your shopping list as early as possible.

Windows convertible enthusiasts can opt for a $799 Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with Core i5, 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD or $470 i5 Surface Pro 3, while cash-strapped Android phone buyers have a $150 non-Pro original Axon and $200 Asus ZenFone Zoom to compare and contrast. Last but not least, the $350 Honor 8 will apparently come bearing “exclusive gifts.”

Stylish Huawei Fit activity tracker monitors your heart rate for $130

It looks like Huawei doesn’t want anything to distract us from the headliner of today’s Munich hardware announcement event, voluntarily letting a few images of the Fit wearable slip yesterday, and now fully unveiling (minimal fanfare and all) the “international” Honor Watch S1 counterpart.

As always, US tech consumers will be asked to pay a small premium compared to folks over in China, with the Huawei Fit slated to roll out across retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy and Newegg in a matter of hours at $129.99, up from the $104-equivalent 700 Yuan.

That’s still considerably cheaper than the Huawei Watch we’re left waiting to be upgraded, and the main difference is build quality. Don’t get us wrong, this watch-styled circular fitness tracker is by no means ugly… for a low-cost tracker, but it arguably leans closer to a Pebble Time Round rival than an Apple Watch “killer.”

Expect a relatively low-res screen to be confirmed and further detailed at Mate 9’s introduction, which will however do wonders for battery life, estimated at around six days. Since there’s no built-in GPS or cellular support in tow, the key selling points of the Huawei Fit include (allegedly) accurate heart rate monitoring from your wrist, step counting, multi-sport mode capabilities, and sleep analysis.

All in all, not bad for an affordable basic wearable with (some) smartwatch functionality. But the best from Huawei is yet to come.

Mysterious Honor S1 smartwatch practically confirmed for October 18 launch too

Subtlety doesn’t seem to be the main strength of online-only Huawei offshoot and sub-brand Honor, which has no reservations revealing precisely what’s in store for an October 18 press event in China. But while the Honor 6X phone had most of its specifications unofficially disclosed ahead of yesterday’s official name confirmation, there’s been no online chatter of an S1 wearable device prior to today’s exposé in ...

Android Wear 2.0 delayed, developer preview update allows watch-only apps

The developer preview program for Android Wear 2.0 has been extended through early next year. Why? We don’t know. Android won’t tell us.But it did release Developer Preview 3 for users to load up on and there’s one big feature that’s got everyone excited: the Play Store is now navigable on Android Wear watches. Not only will it be much less of a hassle to look up and download apps as you need them without pulling out your phone — more importantly, this update ...

Next Huawei Watch may run on Tizen OS

As much as we take Tizen to be of Samsung’s ownership, it’s not. It’s an open-source project and any manufacturer is free to thrive on Tizen. And while Samsung may wield Tizen as the ultimate way away from Android, it’s not the only manufacturer that can pose such a threat to Google’s ...

No Mate S2 or Mate 9 to be announced at IFA Berlin, Huawei exec confirms

Our expectations for Huawei’s pre-IFA product announcement event on Thursday probably need to be taken down a notch or two for them to still be “defied”, with the Nova series likely to fly solo to the capital city of Germany after all.Granted, it was a bit of a stretch to anticipate a (very) early September

Huawei Watch deals galore: $150 starting price, up to $275 savings and free gift cards

Is the Huawei Watch the greatest Android Wear device ever made? Many seem to think so, but it’s likely about to get even better at IFA 2016.Then again, if you don’t relish the prospect of a presumably expensive sequel, and were still on the fence regarding the original models due precisely to their above-average prices, B&H Photo Video has a Black Friday-level sale in full swing on a wide array of first-gen Huawei Watch ...
