T-Mobile One Plus add-on is discounted to $15 a month, $25 One Plus International also available

“ONE” unlimited everything cellular plan to rule them all? Not exactly, as T-Mobile technically unveiled a costlier alternative for throttled video and hotspot data a few months back, now adding a third option for “Un-carrier” customers digging diversity and freedom of choice.

There are two available extras for standard T-Mobile One service, dubbed One Plus and One Plus International. Interestingly (and somewhat confusingly), the new One Plus add-on is different from the introductory tier, setting you back $15 a month per line instead of $25, and no longer covering unlimited high-speed 4G LTE mobile hotspot data. Just double your basic speeds abroad, unlimited HD day passes for video streaming, as well as Gogo full flight unlimited Wi-Fi.

Meanwhile, for $25 atop the starting $70 T-Mobile One access fee, you can get all the above, plus all the hotspot consumption you can handle, and unlimited international calling to landlines in 70+ countries and mobile numbers in 30+ countries.

That’s T-Mobile One Plus International for you, and of course, it’s cheaper if you opt for two, three or four lines, at a grand total of $170, $215 and $260 respectively. And yet there’s still something greater around the corner in another industry-changing Un-carrier 13 CES move.

Two T-Mobile One plans, one free year of DIRECTV NOW, but only if you jump from AT&T

AT&T has made it clear that its new DIRECTV NOW channel distribution program is targeted at cable-cutters and the mobile-obsessed. It’s available on as many screen sizes that make sense to view 16:9 content on. And you don’t have to be on any of AT&T’s services to get it.

T-Mobile is using this fact to its promotional advantage by promising AT&T customers who switch to the Un-carrier that if they take two lines and their number and put it under the T-Mobile ONE plan ($120 per month), they’ll get unlimited data, talk and text as well as a full year of DIRECTV NOW for free — in the form of 12 bill credits at the $35 monthly level.

Keep in mind that DIRECTV NOW is still offering its “Go Big” 100+ channel package at $25 off the usually monthly cost for a limited, though undefined time. T-Mobile’s promotion goes through February 16, so if you’re sitting on this deal — you AT&T Mobility customer — you might only be able to redeem the “Live a Little” 60+ channel package.

Magentaland’s customers on the deprecated Simple Choice plans can also stream DIRECTV NOW with Binge On and not have their data buckets affected. Keep in mind that no matter where you’re coming from to the Un-carrier, streaming video on the standard T-Mobile One plan and Binge On is limited in speed to support 480p resolution.

T-Mobile has not only been able to convince customers to come in with promotions like these, but stay in its subscriber base with campaigns like T-Mobile Tuesdays.

T-Mobile extends Magenta Friday Weekend deals through Tuesday, but the best is yet to come

‘Member when Black Friday was actually a one-off thing, signaling the collective beginning of the US Christmas shopping season at virtually all respected nationwide retailers? Those were arguably simpler but also far more barbaric times, with people physically wrestling each other for the last TV on sale after hours on end wasted in inhumanly long lines outside brick and mortar stores.

Some habits of course die hard, so the Black Friday stampede phenomenon will not entirely go away this year either, but with the rise of e-commerce and substantial expansion of the holiday shopping timeframe, most civilized people can now buy their discounted gear early from home. Or at least one of the two.

Case in point, T-Mobile hasn’t just declared Magenta (Friday) the new Black (Friday), also keeping its first batch of pre-Christmas deals on until midnight pacific time tomorrow, Tuesday, November 22.

Both new and existing T-Mo customers can still get two of four service lines free of charge on ONE or Simple Choice plans, whether we’re talking smartphone, tablet or wearable lines. SyncUP DRIVE is gratis after 24 monthly bill credits with a 2GB or higher mobile Internet plan as well, and the Alcatel Pop 7 LTE slate will merely set you back sales tax on ONE or Simple Choice Unlimited after bill credits.

There are a number of other freebies and markdowns available early through the “UnCarrier”, but don’t forget about what’s coming on Thursday. Three words – Galaxy S7 free.
