We could get new mini-LED iPad and AirPods 3 in the first half of 2021

TFI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is one of the best sources of Apple rumors. This time he tells us that Apple is planning on launching a couple of new products in the first half of 2021. These new devices could include a new iPad with a mini-LED display and a new generation AirPods 3 that would look like the AirPods Pro.

The guys over at MacRumors have recently laid their eyes on a research note to investors, where Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Apple will add Taiwanese manufacturer Career Technology to its supply chain for several products in 2021. The main reason for this decision would be because of the company’s flexible soft board technology, made with liquid crystal polymer.

These LCP soft boards would allow Apple to connect components together in a flexible way, that would also facilitate high-speed and low-latency data transfer. These soft boards would be destined for a new mini-LED iPad, and it would start mass production in the first half of 2021.

We must also remember the Kuo already mentioned some months ago that Apple was working on six new mini-LED products and that these products would arrive through the end of 2021. These new Apple devices could include a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro, a 27-inch iMac Pro, a 14.1-inch MacBook Pro, a 16-inch MacBook Pro, a 10.2-inch iPad, and a 7.9-inch iPad mini. However, it seems that some of these products could be ready sooner than expected, and we could get the new iPad with mini-LED display in the first half of 2021.

Another product that may arrive in the first half of 2021 is the new AirPods 3, which could begin mass production in the first half of 2021. The new AirPods would adopt the System-in-Package that’s used in the AirPods Pro, which would replace the rigid-flex PCB+SMT design of the latest AirPods to give the new ones a design that will feature a shorter stem and replaceable ear tips.

“The ‌AirPods‌ 3 are expected to be more affordable and will lack higher-end features like Active Noise Cancellation. Battery life could be improved, though, and Apple is working on a new wireless chip.”

Kuo also suggests that Apple wants to include the new soft board technology in the next iPhone 13 lineup, which is also expected to arrive with a better camera and LTPO displays.

Could this be the AirPods 3?

Earlier rumors have claimed that Apple is planning to upgrade its truly wireless earphones lineup. The company could launch the 3rd gen AirPods and 2nd gen AirPods Pro in 2021. Now, alleged images of AirPods have surfaced online. It shows that Apple is working on updated models for its popular wireless earphones.

The development comes from 52audio who have shared an image with what they claim to be parts of the new “AirPods 3.” The leak shows an extremely similar design to AirPods Pro. It gives us a look at the top part of Apple’s wireless earphones and also the enclosure cover of its charging case.

The leaked image corroborates with a recent report that claimed the design of Apple AirPods 3 to be similar to the current AirPods Pro. This means it will have a shorter stem and replaceable ear tips. The company is touted to be working on improving the battery life of the device. Despite the design, the upcoming AirPods will not have higher-end AirPods Pro features like noise-cancellation.

As for the AirPods Pro, the Cupertino giant is said to make the earbuds more compact by eliminating the short stem that currently sticks out from the bottom. The said design is in the testing phase with a more rounded shape that fills more of a user’s ear. It is said to be similar to the designs from Samsung, Amazon, and Google. The report goes on to say that integrating noise-cancellation, wireless antennas and microphones into a smaller AirPods Pro casing has proved challenging during development. It could result in a “less ambitious design” when the product is finalized.

The AirPods 3 and 2nd gen AirPods Pro could be launched in the first half of 2021. Moreover, both these devices could be powered by a new wireless chip.

The report cites “people familiar with the plans” and goes on to say that Apple is working on two new models of its AirPods lineup. Both will be an upgrade over the current AirPods and AirPods Pro.

Reportedly, the design of 3rd gen Apple AirPods will be similar to the current AirPods Pro. This means it will have a shorter stem and replaceable ear tips. The company is touted to be working on improving the battery life of the device. Despite the design, the upcoming AirPods will not have higher-end AirPods Pro features like noise-cancellation.

Both the upcoming AirPods could embed an all-new wireless chip.

As for the Apple AirPods Pro, the tech giant is planning to make the earbuds more compact by eliminating the short stem that currently sticks out from the bottom. The said design is in the testing phase with a more rounded shape that fills more of a user’s ear. It is said to be similar to the designs from Samsung, Amazon, and Google.

We could see the new Apple Watch Series 6 and more Apple products soon

We have been receiving quite a bunch of rumors telling us that we should wait for new Apple devices until October. The latest rumor even made us believe that we could see Apple products as soon as tomorrow, but it seems we will have to wait longer to see the upcoming iPhone 12, the Apple Watch Series 6, and more Apple devices.

It seems that the launch of the new Apple Watch Series 6 may happen soon, just not tomorrow, as a new report from Digitimes claims that Apple’s supply chain is getting ready to work on at least two new Apple Watch models. Apple supplier, ASE Technology, could be getting core chips ready to include them in the upcoming Watch Series 6. These chips would be based on system-in-package tech, which could also be incorporated into third-generation AirPods, which are expected to launch in the first half of 2021.

We are still waiting for Apple to release official information of any sort about the event that will launch the new iPhone 12 lineup and more. Jon Prosser even had us all excited, as he told is that Apple was planning a press release for tomorrow, where we could see the arrival of the new Apple Watch Series 6, new iPads, and more. However, Mark Gurman told us not to expect a launch, since we could get an announcement of the upcoming Apple event.

This new information would also go against the rumors from Mac Okatakara, which claimed that the new Apple Watch would be announced via a press release, along with new iPads. Further, it backs up the tweet posted by @L0vetodream, where he claims that there will be no Apple Watch announcement in September.

The Apple Watch Series 6 is rumored to arrive with a new processor, and its features would include blood oxygen monitoring, a bigger battery, mental health abnormalities detection, faster Wi-Fi and cellular speeds, and more.

Apple’s Q2 numbers show strong iPhone sales in the Chinese market

Let’s talk about sales for a second. We know that Apple was struggling back in February as they reportedly only selling 500k iPhones in China for that month. Now, according to some CINNO research, Apple saw a 225% growth from April-June which resulted in a 13M iPhones shipped during this period. Since then, the iPhone 11 and the new iPhone SE were apparently driving many of the sales, which lead to a 62% growth year-over-year. These numbers aren’t exactly clear but another research note also puts Apple in the second place in terms of growth, with the leader being Huawei.

Future Apple AirPods could feature bone conduction for improved audio

We’ve been talking about a lot of Apple patents as of late and now, we have a new one that sheds some light as to what AirPods might do in the future. According to this patent, Cupertino is working on bone conduction technology with normal air-based sound transmission. To put it in a simple way, it would allow them to send audio through two general areas and, since there is nothing really going into your ear canal, you have better awareness of your environment if you want to hear it. However, we know that Apple is notorious for patents and this may not happen soon but it would be nice to see.

Samsung is considering to drop Bixby & Galaxy Apps Store as Google offers new mobile apps deal

Alright, now let’s talk Samsung cause we have some possible major news, which we are hoping do happen. For those of you Samsung users that like to disable the Bixby button, we have some good news for you. Samsung is apparently in talks with Google for a deal that would make Samsung push the Google Assistant and get rid of Bixby. This also means that Samsung would stop pushing their Galaxy Apps Store. The two companies are apparently discussing the financial terms and according to Bloomberg, Samsung stated that “they are closely working with Google and other partners to give you the best customer experience”. Google also stated that they won’t be doing the same with other partners. Does this mean you can partner again for a new Samsung Galaxy Nexus? Or Google Play Edition Note 20? Guys can you imagine?

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live flaunt their wingtips for the first time in leaked renders

Here’s your first detailed look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 live image spotted online ahead of launch

Let’s move on to your daily dose of the unhealthy amount of Samsung leaks we have and, they come from trusted sources. Let’s start it off with the Galaxy Buds Live. We have some new renders from Twitter, showing off the Buds in their Black and Bronze color variants and, if you hadn’t seen these before…. These pictures show them from every possible angle, they even show some wing tips that we hadn’t seen which will prevent them from falling off your ear. Moving on to the Z Fold 2, we have a hands on IRL picture which shows the phone booting up but, we can’t really see anything else other than the name. Luckily, the source from the Buds pics posted other renders of the Z Fold 2 as well, showing off the new design. The outer display looks way better than the original Fold, and the camera array looks pretty much like the one we’re expecting from the Note. Other leaks also suggest that we might get a very expensive Thom Browne edition of the Z fold 2 which will retail for around $2800, yeah you heard that right.

Story of the day:

OnePlus Nord-series smartphone is coming to the US later this year, reveals Carl Pei

OnePlus’ next Nord-series smartphone might use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 690 SoC

And finally the hottest news today have to do with the OnePlus Nord. Actually let’s start calling it the Nord lineup, because we’ve got two separate news that indicate so, one pretty much official. We thought that you would only be able to get the OnePlus Nord in North America through that trial thing were only 50 fans would get it but, apparently that won’t be the case, sort of. Carl Pei just went on an interview and said that the Nord won’t be available in the US once it goes on sale on August 4th but, he said that a Nord-branded phone is set to land on US shores later this year so “you don’t have to feel left out for too long”. As a matter of fact, in one of their Nord promo videos they mentioned the term “OnePlus Series” possibly hinting that the Nord isn’t the only device and, they even have a dedicated “Nord Series” page in their website. On the second report that’s most likely unrelated, it seems that there’s also another, less expensive Nord in the works. XDA also discovered in the latest Oxygen OS update a new OnePlus phone that would use the Qualcomm 690 SoC which is their latest 5G budget solution. Apparently the internal code name is Billie and we don’t have any other information just yet.

Future Apple AirPods could feature bone conduction for improved audio

Apple AirPods are one of the best-selling products of the company. It remains the go-to choice for truly wireless earbuds. Apple improved the offering with the launch of AirPods Pro by introducing an active noise cancellation feature. Now, a new patent hints that the company could be improving its future device with new technology.

A patent granted to Apple suggests that the company is working on a new version of AirPods with bone conduction audio. Apple has proposed a system that combines bone conduction with normal air-based sound transmission, which could be used in its future AirPods.

For reference, bone conduction includes transmitting sound to the inner ear through the bone of the skull. It allows the user to hear audio content without blocking the ear canal or using earpieces. However, the tech lacks the ability to work at high frequency. It would be interesting to see Apple’s take on bone conduction tech.

“OnePlus Buds” could be the name of OnePlus’ TWS earphones

We’ve been hearing that OnePlus is working on some Truly Wireless Earbuds for a while now which have been tipped for a July launch. Now, the same source just shared a new sketch of the buds, which still looks like a combination of the regular AirPods with the Pixel Buds case. They’re reportedly going to be called the OnePlus Buds and they’re expected to have support for touch controls, the Google Assistant, and fast-pairing with OnePlus phones. We don’t have any more details but we’ll see them soon enough.

Apple might offer health monitoring capabilities on AirPods in the next few years

Speaking of earbuds, it looks like Apple wants to bring some health improvements to the AirPods in the next few years. According to two new DigiTimes reports, Apple has roped in ASE Technology to supply components to add ambient light sensors for health monitoring duties. These light sensors would pass light through your skin to check blood movement in the vessels to detect your heart rate and any other data. However, this would require a redesign for the AirPods and it will most likely come in the next 1-2 years.

Motorola RAZR successor’s specs allegedly leaked, arriving in September

Last week Lenovo’s South African GM leaked that Motorola is working on a second generation Moto RAZR and now, leaks naturally follow. We have some new leaked specs from XDA that include a Snapdragon 765G SoC which is certainly an upgrade from the 710 we got with the original RAZR. It also packs 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It’ll bring a 2845 mAh battery as well as a 48MP main camera and a 20MP selfie shooter. It’s also expected to bring 5G, but only on sub 6GHz networks. This phone should come in September according to the leaks the GM shared.

Story of the day:

Galaxy Note 20+ leaked renders show a familiar design and ginormous camera bump

We have some new renders for the Galaxy Note 20 and they actually come from OnLeaks this time. They’re slightly different than the ones we got last week but retain some of the same elements. According to the leaks, this phone will bring a 6.9in AMOLED display with the centered punch hole. Now, at the back we have a huge camera hump that might even be bigger than the Galaxy S20 Ultra. We have three lenses that kind of remind us of the iPhone 11 line up because of the rings for each camera, as well as a ToF sensor. We’re also able to see the periscope zoom lens but it’s not clear if this one will have 100x capabilities like the S20 Ultra did. This leaks also retain the changes like moving the buttons to the right and the S Pen to the left of the phone. Here’s your first official look at the VIVO X50 and X50 Pro

Oh so you thought the Galaxy S20 had a big camera hump? Well, vivo has been teasing their new X50 Pro which brings a gimbal like main camera. The company just released a new poster of the phone which shows the quad camera module with the huge main sensor. This main camera is a Samsung 50MP ISOCELL GN1 Sensor which comes with Dual Pixel PDAF tech for faster focusing, it basically rotates on it’s axis like a gimbal for better stabilization. The other cameras include a periscope, and most likely a wide angle and a macro camera. We’re expecting the vivo X50 lineup to launch on June 1.

ASUS ROG Phone III and ZenFone 7 to debut around July: Report

Back in February Qualcomm gave us a list of phones that would bring the Snapdragon 865 and, that list included two ASUS phones. It looks like both of those phones are ready to launch according to a new report from Taiwan which claims that the ROG Phone 3 and the ZenFone 7 will either in Q2 or early Q3 of 2020. Going by last year’s launch date, if they do launch in July or August they will be late by a couple of months when compared to their predecessors but, the market isn’t in the same state as it was last year. The company is currently targeting a 30-50% growth in sales for the ROG Phone 3. We’ll keep you posted in case we get more leaks.

Second-gen Moto Razr foldable phone could be launched in September

We all know how excited I was for the Moto RAZR last year, and we all know how that turned out. Well, according to Lenovo’s South African GM, the company is already working on a second generation device and it is supposed to come out in September. He actually mentioned the words “generation two” twice during a podcast while talking about the RAZR. Leaks will most likely start coming in soon and we hope it brings better specifications for the price tag, nostalgia can only go so far.

Apple may have started the production of the new AirPods Studio

A new DigiTimes report claims that we’ll be getting Apple’s AirPods Studio sooner rather than later. The report mentions the fact that Apple will be dropping the wired earphones from the iPhone 12’s box like we covered yesterday. It also mentions that Cupertino will resume regular shipments of the AirPods 2 in the second half of this year, which we wonder if it has anything to do with the move of production to Vietnam, but that does match the timing of the possible AirPods Studio. The company has apparently already started production for these and we could see an announcement at WWDC and they might cost $350.

Story of the day:

We may get a Periscope camera in the Samsung Galaxy Note 20+

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 could’ve appeared in some hot looking renders

We recently got some sketches for the Galaxy Note 20′s design from Ice Universe. Now we got the first renders which were made based on that leaked design. The phone looks pretty similar to the Note 10 from the front with the very boxy design but it does bring some changes. The camera on this one has a larger hump, like the one on the S20 Ultra, the buttons are also on the right side and the S Pen was moved to the left. Like seriously, common sense changes. Now, these aren’t the official renders just yet but, this gives us a pretty good idea of what it might look like according to the sketches. Galaxy Club just found some new information and they claim that the Note 20+ will most likely bring a periscope camera. It isn’t clear if it will be the same one on the S20 Ultra and some other rumors claim that it won’t bring 100X zoom, but it pretty much explains the large camera hump for this phone as well.
