Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, Pixel 4 and OnePlus smartphones are on sale

The M1 MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac mini are also on sale today

The official news today begin with deals, and don’t forget we’ve got time stamps below in case you want to skip this for what’s happening today. Let’s start with OnePlus, which is really making a case for you to buy the 8 Series, probably more than even their own 9 series. Starting with the fact that they have the 8 Pro for 300 dollars off its original price tag, leaving it at 699 for the entry level variant and you get free Buds Z in white. Those Buds Z are actually pretty good by the way. They are also running a Flash Sale on the Nord Series where you can get the N10 for 279 and the N100 for 170 bucks, and it finishes on the 27th. Moving on to Amazon, the Google Pixel 4 is available for 300 dollars off its original price, leaving the entry level model for 496. If you want a foldable, Amazon has the Galaxy Z Fold 2 renewed for 1486 and I mean, if you do the math that’s actually a solid deal with how Amazon guarantees that program. We have more deals on other Samsung smartphones, Macs, iPads and more in the links in the description.

Samsung might give Galaxy S20 FE a new lease of life with chip upgrade

Let’s move on to Samsung as, the company is making an interesting move with the Galaxy S20 FE. We know that Sammy found success with this phone thanks to the decent specs and the price tag and they want to add to that. According to a new report from WinFuture, Samsung might start equipping the S20 FE with the 4G version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, swapping out the Exynos 990 that originally powered it, cause I guess they heard there isn’t much love for that chip, period. The report even mentions the new model number and actually, Samsung has already updated some of their European websites with this model number, hinting that the launch will happen some time soon. The rest of the specifications will remain the same as the Exynos S20 FE but they might add a SKU with more storage for around 600 Euros. We’ll keep you posted on when they make the changes and, while Samsung is doing this for an older phone, wait for the a few segments because Google is doing the complete opposite, and guys it doesn’t look good.

iPhone 13 Mini prototype shown in alleged hands-on image, but we have doubts

Moving the spotlight on to Cupertino real quick before we talk about them again for the hottest news, and this time about the iPhone 13 mini. You’d think that the report on low sales would kill a future generation, but we know Apple is famous for liking to play the long game. So yeah, those other reports of Apple stopping production of the 12 mini aren’t going anywhere with that new purple color that just launched, and now these rumors. This picture comes from a tipster on Weibo, showing off that design that was leaked in CAD renders last week in the Blue color variant where the 2 cameras now sit across from each other inside the stove. Of course at the moment these are still prototypes and Apple could simply just choose to not go on with this design but, a ton of tipsters have been talking about this design and these prototypes just give it a bit of more credibility. We’ll see what we get as, it definitely doesn’t look bad but again, it depends on who you ask.

Android 12 code hints that Pixel 5a 5G will use the same chip as its predecessor

Now, let’s talk about Google and the Pixel 5a on an.. Interesting turn of events. Let me just start by saying I’m struggling to call this a 5a any more. So, a couple of weeks ago we found out that the Pixel 5a will be coming some time during the Fall and it will only be available in the US and Japan. Well, now we have a new report from 9to5Google that claims that Barbet aka the Pixel 5a will be using a processor identified by the number “SM7250” which is a reference to the Snapdragon 765G. And I mean there’s nothing wrong with the 765G but, it’s also the processor that powered the show for the Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5, and if the phone will look exactly like last year’s phone, I mean, wouldn’t this technically be the same 4a 5G? Like, I’m curious to see how Google plans to differentiate these phones. Why even bother to announce anything if that precise phone can currently be purchased in the market. Gotta hand it to Google for the weird decisions all the time.

Story of the day:

Apple readying big changes for notifications in iOS 15, Home Screen overhaul for iPads

But Finally, for the hottest news today let’s talk about Apple, WWDC, and iOS. If you didn’t watch our video on the Spring Loaded Event I highly recommend you do as I went into detail on how these new iPads don’t really make sense right now, unless of course, WWDC changes things dramatically, and that’s what the news is about. According to a new report from Bloomberg, Cupertino is planning to overhaul notifications for iOS 15 and they are also preparing a major overhaul for the iPad’s Home Screen with iPadOS 15. Starting with iOS 15 apparently they want to let you customize notifications depending on your situation, with modes like sleep, driving or working, and you will choose if you want an audible alert or not. Apparently this would work through a menu in the control center, letting you create your scenarios. But fine, for the major news, let’s move on to iPadOS. Bloomberg claims that this will be the biggest overhaul to the Home Screen in over a decade. Apparently Apple will finally add widgets to the Home Screen which was just ridiculous before, letting you replace the entire grid with your widgets of choice. Finally, the report also mentions some big changes for iMessage, for it to compete with WhatsApp by adding some sort of social media aspect to it. You know what the problem is? No word on supporting Pro apps, AKA, what the Mac has, which technically should happen. So far a home screen overhaul seems boring and overdue.

Get a new M1 Mac mini, a MacBook Air and more Apple products on sale today

The OnePlus Nord N10, and more Android devices are on sale today

The official news today begin with deals as you could expect, and don’t worry, we got rid of the obvious ones given how Apple is just about to refresh some of its lineups. Let’s start with the M1 MacBook Air which is now 100 dollars off, leaving the half a terabyte of storage variant for 1149 bucks. Moving on to B&H for a second, they have the OnePlus Nord N10 for 20 dollars off, leaving the entry level model for 280 bucks shipped. The Google Nest Audio is also getting the same discount leaving it at 80 dollars. Now for those of you interested in reminiscing over the most horrible notch in history, we have you covered. The Pixel 3 XL is 300 dollars off, leaving that for 500 bucks shipped.. Which yeah, might not necessarily scream new phone in so many ways. Finally, those Samsung Spring deals that I know you guys love are still available, leaving the S21 for 100 bucks, the S21+ for 300 and the Ultra for 500, if you have a device for trade-in. We also have more deals on the AirPods Pro that might get refreshed in a week, Logitech peripherals that are my favorite, Chromebooks and more in the description

NVIDIA and MediaTek join hands to bring RTX graphics to Chromebooks

Let’s move on to NVIDIA as, yes, we’re going through a chip shortage, and yet the company made a ton of announcements yesterday. Probably the most interesting one is that they will return to make ARM-based processors, which I know, is confusing since they make the chip for the Nintendo Switch. Anyways, this will be called the NVIDIA Grace but it’s not for everyone, unless you’re planning to buy an AI datacenters at some point. However, they also announced that they are partnering up with MediaTek, “to create a reference platform supporting Chromium, Linux and NVIDIA SDKs”. Basically by creating this SDK they might eventually bring GeForce RTX graphics to Chromebooks. MediaTek’s CEO mentions that this partnership will also bring GPU acceleration to the ARM-PC ecosystem, allowing for a boost to the gaming and content creation prowess of these machines while NVIDIA claims they want to create a “new class of notebooks powered by an ARM-based CPU and an NVIDIA RTX GPU. So yeah, we’ll keep you posted on any announcements they make in the future, as that combo is far more interesting on our book.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE leaked renders reveal glastic back, flat display and more

Now, let’s shift the spotlight on to Samsung for a couple of segments this time, starting with the . You’ve gotta admit that the S20 FE that Samsung launched last year was probably one of their most successful products. I’m not saying it was the best one, but it was proof that just enough flagship features at an aggressive price can even give OnePlus a run for its money. We thought the S21 would fill in those shoes this year, but nope.. There’s gonna be an S21 Fan edition it seems. These new images come from OnLeaks, showing off the S21 FE in a “Pacific Blue”-like color variant if you know what I mean. It brings a glastic rear panel but it will reportedly still bring a metal frame. At the front you can expect a 6.4-inch Infinity O display which is slightly bigger than the regular S21. At the back we also have that same triple camera setup we got with the S21 but, it’ll most likely bring downgraded lenses to make the price tag go down. We don’t have much information on what specs we can expect but, the price tag will reportedly be somewhere around 700 bucks, which is why I say that S21 seemed to be it.. We’ll see.

Samsung might borrow game-changing camera tech from iPhone 12 Pro Max

Let’s keep talking about the Samsung but moving all the way up to the Galaxy S22 Ultra and its camera. Notice what time of year it is, and no Galaxy Note rumors.. Which definitely just reminds us that the next flagship is definitely a year away. Last year, Apple introduced sensor-shifting image stabilization with the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which is actually the in-body stabilization we currently have with mirrorless cameras like the A7SIII that I use for this video. Well, it looks like Samsung might adopt this exact technology as well. According to a new report from Galaxy Club, “Samsung is experimenting with the technology for one of their upcoming phones. Now of course, the report doesn’t explicitly mention the S22 Ultra but other than that, the only major candidate would be the Z Fold 3 if they end up skipping the Note, and the Z Fold has never been Ultra about cameras. If you don’t know how this technology works, it basically makes the whole sensor move around when the accelerometer detects shaky hand movements, which serves not just for video stabilization, but also for sharper photography when taking stills on the go. We’re not exactly sure if this is that whole possible partnership that Samsung is reportedly gonna do with Olympus, since their Micro Four Thirds cameras include this. Let’s see how it goes in the end as the S21 Ultra has already proven to be one of the best cameras of the year.

Story of the day:

Apple announces the date for its April event: What to expect?

And finally, and I’m going to be saying finally a lot in this segment, for the hottest news today let’s talk about Apple. Last night we had a leak from non other than Siri, where if you asked her when Apple’s next event was, she would tell you April 20th but there were no invites, and Apple’s website showed nothing. Well, now after tons of missed leaks and speculations, we have an official invite for an event happening at 10AM Pacific on April 20th with the caption “Spring Loaded”. And with the amount of products we’re expecting, it actually does sound loaded. Doing a little bit of a recap, we’re expecting AirTags to finally be released after almost 2 years of leaks. We should be getting new iPad Pros that feature mini-LED displays, along with an iPad mini that should be getting a larger display on a similar chassis. I would also really love for that iPad mini Pro to become a reality here by the way, but the rumors seem to make that far fetched. Other than that, another product that might not happen at this event is the third generation AirPods. They’re reportedly going into production until Q3, even if the black market already has the leaked design on sale. Finally, the redesigned iMac might also make an appearance here and that might also mean that we’re getting some new Apple Silicon chips, but with the chip shortage, who knows. Of course, we’re just speculating here but., what Apple products are you waiting for?

Amazon has some great discounts on Samsung, OnePlus and Pixel smartphones

The iPhone 11 lineup, several Apple Watch models are on sale today

The official news today begin with deals, starting with Amazon. Gotta hand it to them for some crazy discounts most of the time. They currently have the OnePlus 8 for 210 dollars off, leaving it at 490 bucks. The Galaxy S20 FE is also available for 100 dollars off, leaving it at 600 dollars shipped. The regular Galaxy Note 20 which is uhh… not the greatest is also 200 dollars off, leaving it at 799. They also have the Google Pixel 4 for 320 dollars off its original price tag, leaving that at 479 bucks. Moving on to the Samsung store, if you’re looking for other good deals, the company still has the Galaxy S21 for 99 bucks, the S21+ for 300 and the S21 Ultra for 500 bucks as part of their Spring Deals but, you need to have an eligible device to trade-in. Finally, if you’re looking for an iPhone 11 Pro, Woot has the unlocked variant starting at 879 bucks which is a pretty solid discount, but it’s still a 4G Phone. We have more deals on other OnePlus phones, TCL phones and more in the links below.

Lenovo’s new gaming phone borrows cooling system straight from gaming laptops

Let’s stick to official news but moving on to Lenovo as the company just released the successor to their Legion Gaming Phone. This one brings a 6.92-inch AMOLED Display by Samsung running at 144Hz and it features a crazy 720Hz touch sampling rate. As expected, it is powered by the Snapdragon 888 5G, with up to 18 Gigs of RAM, up to 512 Gigs of storage and a 5500 mAh battery that supports 90W fast charging. When it comes to the cameras, it brings a dual camera module with a 64MP main sensor and a 16MP ultra wide. Probably the most interesting feature on this phone is that the Pro variant comes with a built in “twin-turbo fan active” cooling system that it borrows from gaming laptops. Both fans promise to last at up to 6 years and the phone also brings a vapor chamber for passive cooling. The Legion Phone Duel 2 is available in Ultimate Black and Titanium White and it starts at around 565 with the topped out model setting you back 916 dollars. It’s currently available in Europe and Asia but, stay tuned as it might reach the US still, though about that cooling system.. Seems that Zack already broke it.. Oh well..

Apple might reuse the same old design for 2021 iPad Mini as per fresh leak

Let’s move the spotlight on to Apple but this time, we’ll be talking iPads. Earlier this morning we got some new images from Sonny Dickson, showing off some dummy versions of the upcoming 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros along with the iPad mini 6. Of course, these dummies are usually based on the CAD schematics used for case makers before the official release but, these are pretty good. Both of the Pros show off the typical squared design with the dual camera at the back and slim bezels at the front. As for the iPad mini, this one sadly isn’t getting a redesign yet as it still brings the home button and the big bezels but, this is reportedly a larger display at around 8.5 to 9-inches. Probably the biggest update to these iPads is the mini-LED displays we’ll finally be getting for the Pros. We’ll see what other official changes Apple announces, that is if they ever decide to announce these, cause we’re still waiting for that.

Samsung might be the next phone brand to partner with a camera maker

Now let’s talk Samsung smartphones and Camera partnerships. This is something I never thought we’d need to see, but oh well. If you heard the podcast we did a couple of weeks ago with Josh, we discussed a ton on how that OnePlus and Hasselblad partnership… isn’t really working out so far unlike other partnerships like Huawei and Leica. Well, according to a tipster named Yogesh, Samsung could be the next company to partner with a camera maker. With a report from Tom’s Guide claiming that tipsters like IceUniverse have confirmed that Samsung and Olympus will be partnering. According to the report, Olympus approached Samsung to offer their branding as well as expertise in the key areas of photography and videography. Of course, we don’t really know what that means until we get the phones. I know Josh loves his Olympus, but I’m not sure Samsung needs help in their image or video quality. Speaking of which, we could reportedly see this partnership on a special edition of the Z Fold, or with the Galaxy S22 Ultra which is still around 8 months away. Of course this is just a report at the moment but, with all the partnerships that have been going on lately

Story of the day:

Google I/O 2021 starts on May 18, and it will be free for all to attend virtually

And finally, for the hottest news today, let’s talk about Google and Events.. And yeah sadly still no Pixel 6 hands on, but just give it some time. Anyways, yesterday the company announced that Google I/O is back and it will be happening online once again. The event will be happening from May 18th through May 20 and they disclosed that it is free for everyone so you can pretty much register now. If you’re wondering what we could expect, Google will most likely talk about Android 12 aside from, their workshops, developer keynotes, and live Q&As that they do. However, some leaks claim that we could be getting the Google Pixel 5a at this event which was leaked back in February, pretty much rocking the 4a 5Gs design. Some even newer leaks claim that we could also be getting some “Pixel Buds A” which are a more affordable variants of the Pixel Buds, hence the A. We also have a new image of the Pixel Watch from Jon Prosser where we can see a part of the Watch’s display along with a Digital Crown. He didn’t provide much information but, he claims he will have images and videos on his show, hopefully with a date. We’re still a little over a month away so we should be getting more information soon, let’s just hope we get some hardware.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy S21 series is on sale today

Get a new M1 Mac mini, Chromebooks and more on sale

As expected, the news today begin with deals, which keep getting better, even if for no particular reason. Starting with Amazon, the M1 Mac Mini is still 100 dollars off, leaving it at 800 for the 512 gigs of SSD variant. Both Amazon and B&H have the Galaxy S21 Ultra for 200 dollars off, leaving the entry level variant for 999. B&H also has the regular S21 for 150 bucks off, leaving it at 699 for 256 gigs of storage. Of course, if you’re looking for a Samsung device and have an older phone to trade-in their Spring deals are still going, leaving the S21 for 100 bucks, the S21+ for 300 or the Ultra for 500, again if you have a device for trade-in. Finally, Amazon has the Apple Watch Series 6 for 65 dollars off, leaving it at 320 shipped. We have more deals on iPads, other Samsung devices and more in the links in the description.

Pixel 5 graphics performance almost doubled after April security update

Let’s move the spotlight on to Google and their April security patch for the Google Pixel 5.. I know it sounds weird but you’ll understand. In case you missed it, last year when the Pixel 5 was released it actually lagged behind in performance when compared to other phones using the Snapdragon 765G. Well, most of these numbers came from AnAndTech, showing how the Pixel 5 failed against the competition. Well, someone who works for them just confirmed that they have ran the tests again and after this security patch, it doubles the published scores for the Pixel 5. Meaning it is now in line or even better than other 765G smartphones but of course, it took 6 months to make it happen. So, if you’re a gamer and you have a Pixel 5, this update is for you so make sure to download it. All I can say is I never really noticed bad performance, but hey

Sony’s Xperia 1 III flagship leaked in all its glory by casemaker ahead of launch

We’re about a week away from the Sony Xperia event so, let’s shift the spotlight on to what’s next. Last week we covered some leaked specs and renders for the Xperia 1 mark III and now some new case renders give us further confirmation for this design. These images come from case-maker Olixar, showing off the design we saw last week. We see that 4K HDR OLED display that is reportedly capable of 120Hz but, we still don’t know the size just yet. At the back we get to see the triple camera array which will reportedly consist of a 64MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra wide, and a 12MP periscope telephoto that will apparently be capable of 60x zoom. From these images we can see the phone in a grey color variant and they even showed the Xperia 10 Mark III which looks somewhat similar but with a less impressive camera module. Other specs include the Snapdragon 888 5G, up to 16 gigs of RAM, up to 512 gigs of storage and a 5000 mAh battery. So yeah, we’ll see what Sony announces on April 14th.

LG officially announces the shuttering of its smartphone business

And yes, of course we have to talk about what happened with LG. Over the past couple of months there have seen a ton of reports going on claiming that LG could be closing their smartphone division. Well, pretty much at midnight on Monday they announced that they are officially shutting down their phone business. If you’re not familiar with the matter, the shut down is expected to be completed by July 31st but of course, some inventory may still be available even after that. Apparently they’re even aiming to deliver an Android 12 update for those of you keeping your phones according to a support page discovered by XDA developers, but we still have no details on which phones will be supported. So yeah, in their statement the company mentions that they will be focusing on 6G, EVs, smart homes, robotics, AI and other ventures. So again, even if they haven’t had the greatest last couple of years, it’s still sad to say that LG Mobile is now gone as they brought so much to the market. The LG G4 continues to be one of my favorite cameras on a phone, ever, and the G6 and V30 my favorite designs.

Story of the day:

iPhone 13 Pro mockups that look like a crude copy predict key design changes

And Finally, for the hottest news today, let’s talk about the elephant in the room.. Those iPhone 13 mockups. Every year we get some 3D mockups of the upcoming iPhones that are usually made for casemakers to start designing their cases but this year, we finally have something different. Over the past couple of months one of the biggest stories has been that we’ll finally be getting a smaller notch, with the FaceID components getting rearranged and the ear piece being moved to the top. Well, these mockups from MacOtakara pretty much confirm that. Other than that, like the other leaks claim, we should expect the same design with the triple camera module at the back along with the LiDAR sensor, the lightning port and speakers at the bottom. And, according to several leaks, it looks like we’re due for an S Year, with the main improvements coming internally, but we can expect camera hardware upgrades when it comes to the lenses and some new colorways like Matte Black and Bronze but, no major design changes. So, with the leak cycle being this early this year and all the information we’ve gotten.

See, they currently have the Galaxy S21+ for 150 dollars off, leaving it at 700 bucks with free shipping included. LG will formally announce its exit from phone business on April 5: Report

Now let’s talk about LG, as I hate to say this, but this might be the beginning for the ned. Over the past couple of months there’s been multiple reports claiming that LG would be exiting the smartphone market but, it looks like it will happen. According to a new report from the Korea Times, LG has reportedly entered a transition phase where they are relocating their employees from the smartphone division to other business units. As a matter of fact, they came in contact with a company official and he mentioned that they will be making an announcement regarding the “direction of their mobile communication business soon.” If you’re wondering how soon, the report cites industry sources that claim that they will be making an official announcement at their board meeting on Monday, April 5. We won’t speculate here as we’re so close but, it’s really sad to see LG go after all the innovation they’ve brought. Guys, the LG G4 still has some of my favorite photos of all time. It truly is not good news if it ends up happening.

Sony Xperia 1 III leak reveals an overpowered Android specs monster

Let’s move the spotlight on to Sony as, we have some new leaks for their upcoming flagship. A little over a month ago we got some leaks for the new design from OnLeaks but, we didn’t have much other information to go from. Now we have some leaked specs from Weibo that well, reveal everything else. The Xperia 1 III will reportedly pack an HDR 4K OLED Display running at 120Hz on Sony’s typical 21:9 aspect ratio. It’ll be powered by the Snapdragon 888 along with either 12 or 16 Gigs of RAM and up to half a terabyte of storage. It also brings a 5000 mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging but, they don’t mention any details on wireless charging. When it comes to the cameras, we will reportedly get a 64MP main sensor, a long with a 12MP wide angle and a 12MP telephoto which relies on a periscope lens that’ll deliver 60x zoom which is most likely digital. Sony already made their event official for April 14th, so stay tuned as this might just be the first time I’m really enticed to try one.

2023 iPhone SE refresh might pack a bigger display with a radical design change

Now since we know that Sony phone won’t be cheap, let’s talk about a more affordable product with the nest-generation iPhone SE. There’s been multiple reports talking about how we will be getting a refresh this year or next year but, it won’t bring a new design. Well, we just got a new tweet from Ross Young where he gives us leaks on multiple future models. Speaking of the one next year, he claims it will still bring a 4.7-inch LCD display with some rumors claiming it might bring both flavors of 5G. Where it gets interesting is when he mentions that he’s hearing about a 6.1-inch variant coming in 2023 with a punch hole instead of the notch. If you haven’t been paying attention lately, reports from very trusted sources claim that Cupertino will finally move on to punch holes, either next year or 2023 so it makes sense. Of course we’re still very far away but let’s see what happens as, we should be getting that rumored SE+ soon right? Or hey I hope so..

Story of the day:

Google said to arm Pixel 6 with an in-house chip, just like Apple does for iPhones

But finally, for the hottest news today let’s talk about Google and Pixels.. But no, it’s not a hands on leak or anything like that.. Yet.. Give it a day or two. If you remember, there was a report that came out in April last year that claimed that Google was designing their own chip called “Whitechapel” to go in Pixels and Chromebooks. Pretty much what Apple has been doing with iPhones since the 4, iPads since Gen 1, and the Mac since the M1. Well, a new report from 9to5Google claims that the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 5a which are codenamed Raven and Oriole respectively, will be among the first phones to be equipped with a chip based on this Whitechapel platform. Also, notice birds for the codenames now and not fish. To quote the report, “Whitechapel is an effort from Google to create their own SoC, similar to how Apple did for the Mac, iPads and iPhones.” They’re apparently co-developing Whitechapel with Samsung which already rivals Snapdragon when it comes to Android phones. Now, speaking of Qualcomm, I wonder what’s going to happen with them as we know that they’ve had a big partnership with Google. I mean, the first-ever Snapdragon debuted on the first ever Google Nexus One. The chip is apparently called GS101 internally, with GS probably standing for Google Silicon. So, if you guys think about it, it looks like Google wants to go toe to toe with Apple considering, they make Android, they make the Pixels, they make the Chromebooks, they own the Play Store, and now they’ll be making the chips. If they do pull an Apple, this could just mean that Chromebooks will get better at running Android Apps and stuff.

OnePlus 8 series is getting massive discounts, Apple Watch and other accessories are also on sale

Moto RAZR 5G is $400 off, Sony phones and more devices are on sale

The official news today begin with deals. I find it funny that Apple would never give out deals for their products on their website, but that isn’t stopping Amazon. They currently have M1 MacBook Pro that I’m using for 100 dollars off, leaving the entry level variant for 1200 bucks shipped. The Moto RAZR 5G is also 400 dollars off, leaving it at 1000 bucks… and I know, for that price I want it too, but you better not like photos to justify the purchase. Moving on to Best Buy for a second, the Apple Watch Series 6 Nike Edition is currently 50 bucks off, leaving it at 379 but, you can also get a 100 dollar discount on the Series 5, leaving that one for 299. Samsung’s Spring Event is still going on, where you can get the Galaxy S21 for 100 bucks, the S21+ for 300, or the Ultra for 500 if you have an eligible device for trade-in. We also have deals for Jabra earbuds, which for those asking, are my favorites for running, along with more deals on OnePlus devices and other products in the links in the description.

Google prepping affordable ‘Pixel Buds A’ whose details just got leaked

Since we already began sort of talking wearables, let’s shift the spotlight on to Google and what the company plans to do here. It’s been almost a year since Google released the true wireless Pixel Buds and it looks like they want to refresh them in a more affordable way. According to a new report from 9to5Google these will be called the Pixel Buds A, you know like the Pixel 4a. They will apparently have the same design to the Pixel Buds but with a few colorway tweaks. When it comes to the features, they’ll offer support for touch controls for you to answer calls, of course control music playback and summon the Google assistant but, it is still unclear as to what corners Google will be cutting in order to make these cheaper. Finally, the report mentions that we could expect these some time around June or earlier so, let’s see but, with Google you never know.

OnePlus reveals why its first smartwatch doesn’t run Wear OS, and it’s no surprise

Now let’s talk about another wearable that decided to ditch Google, for all the right reasons. OnePlus finally launched their first smartwatch last week and we’re still waiting on it but, there’s a ton of people asking over the fact that it doesn’t run WearOS. Well, the company’s Product Manager just wrote in an official forum that the fact that they chose their RTOS system over WearOS is because of the ability to offer better and longer battery life to their users which is totally understandable. They also note that RTOS allows them to use what they call “high frame rate debugging experience, which allowed them to raise the display’s capacity to 50Hz, giving you a smoother experience. So yeah, in case you missed it this new Watch features a 1.39-inch AMOLED display along with a 402 mAh battery that lasts up to 14 days with regular usage, or 5 days when sleep and blood oxygen is measured. And sure, I know some of you are concerned about third party apps, but let’s be serious, how many of you actually use more than one app on WearOS? They’re mostly trash.

Apple’s Mixed Reality headset might be unveiled much sooner than expected

Moving on, let’s talk about Apple’s Mixed Reality headset. At first I felt there were just too many rumors for how far away we are from a possible launch, but now things start making sense. Even with all the rumors of 8k displays and eye-tracking technology, that possible launch in 2022 made it sound like vapor wear. Well, now we have a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman that claims that “we could expect it sometime in the next several months, with this being their first major ‘new’ device since 2015”. Apparently it won’t happen at WWDC as Cupertino wants to make such announcement with employees, partners, and the media being present in the room and WWDC is set as an online event. However, they promised some insight on their platforms and they could introduce what they’ve been doing with AR and VR. So far we’ve heard from sources like Ming Chi Kuo that this headset could weigh around 150 grams, it’ll bring around 15 camera modules, a mesh headband and everything else we’ve already heard, so we’ll see.

Story of the day:

iPhone 13 Pro Max will stand out with its upgraded wide angle camera: Kuo

And Finally, for the hottest news today,.. NO we won’t be talking about that cheese grater iPhone.. Yes, we saw the patents, but come on.. I doubt that’ll happen, or at least not any time soon. Let’s focus on what we should expect this year with a new report from Ming Chi Kuo on the iPhone 13 Pro Max, or 12s, or whatever. Up until now, all of the reports we’ve been getting claim that the smaller iPhone 13 Pro will bring the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s camera along with software and hardware improvements like the 7 element lenses so, it left us wondering what upgrades the 13 Pro Max would be getting. According to Kuo’s latest report, the iPhone 13 Pro Max will make an interesting jump to a brighter and faster f/1.5 aperture on the main sensor, and this will differentiate it as it seems the rest of the 13 series will stick to an f/1.6 aperture on the primary camera. The thing is, I’m not sure if it’ll translate into better photos, because as it stands, the 12 Pro Max just takes photos slightly faster, and not really better. If anything aperture that sharp makes closeups a problem. Now as for quality, Kuo also mentions that all models will bring that 7P lens which improves light transmission rate, that can translate to better image quality. The shipment for these lenses is expected to begin in Q2 of 2021 so, some time soon. Other than this we’ve heard that most of the camera upgrades will include better wide angles and telephotos as well as your typical software upgrades.

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is still $325, more Android phones are also on sale

Save big bucks on Apple’s M1 Mac mini, Dell computers and more

iPhone 12 BOGO deals, iPad Pros and more devices are also on sale

Of course, the news today begin with deals, cause you know those haven’t stopped being great. Let’s start with Verizon which has a Buy One Get One Free deal for the iPhone 12 where you get the second phone and a bonus 250 dollars in credit. Moving on to Amazon for a second, the M1 Mac mini is currently 100 dollars off, leaving it at 800 shipped. Samsung is still running their Spring Deals where you can get the Galaxy S21 for 100 bucks, the S21 Plus for 300 bucks and the Ultra for 500 bucks, if you have an eligible device for trade-in. Back to Amazon, the OnePlus 8 is 200 dollars off, leaving it at 500 bucks. And we have more deals on iPads, Amazon Echo Speakers, other Samsung products and more.

Samsung’s app confirms a new pair of wireless earbuds are coming soon

Let’s move the spotlight on to Samsung as, it looks like the company wants to expand their wireless earbuds market. So far they have 4 models out with the Buds, Buds+, Buds Live and the new Buds Pro, which happen to be my favorite out of the bunch. Now it looks like those regular Buds are getting a refresh. The guys from Android Police just did a teardown on the Galaxy Wearable’s app APK where you can see multiple references to some “Galaxy Buds 2” which are apparently codenamed Berry. According to the report we could expect these around the end of the year with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 with some updated features like multi-point connectivity, better call quality and better water resistance. We have no leaks on design so far but, they should look pretty similar to their predecessors considering Samsung’s other buds. We’ll see what we get.

Xiaomi’s Mi MIX Fold is an inward-folding smartphone like the Galaxy Z Fold2

Moving back to official news, let’s talk about Xiaomi as after years of concepts, the company finally launched their first foldable smartphone, the Mi MIX Fold. The Mix Fold brings an inward folding design, kind of like what you get from Samsung’s Z Fold. It brings an 8-inch main display running at 60 Hz, and a 6.5-inch cover display running at 90Hz. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 with up to 16 Gigs of RAM and half a terabyte of storage, along with a 5020 mAh battery. When it comes to the cameras, Xiaomi is bringing a triple setup with a 108MP main sensor, a 13MP ultra wide and an 8MP “liquid lens” that offers 3x optical zoom and doubles as a macro lens. Now, Xiaomi is offering new features to let you take advantage of the larger canvas like a dedicated “desktop mode” that turns it into well.. A desktop instead of the regular Android UI. It is set to be available in China for around 1521 dollars but, we have no word on a global release. But yeah man that price tag doesn’t sound so bad when compared to others.

The next-gen Apple chip powering iPhone 13 enters production in May

Once again, we’ll be splitting the hottest news into 2 Apple segments because.. Sometimes they’re worth it? According to a new report from DigiTimes, Apple’s A15 chip will begin production in May which aligns with Cupertino’s usual fall timeline. Now, the A15 will still be built on the same 5nm architecture we got on the A14 and the M1 chips but, we should still see improvements when it comes to performance and efficiency through the silicon’s design. However, the report mentions that Cupertino has already ordered TSMC’s 4 nanometer chips which will begin production in late 2021. The report speculates that these will be first used in a new generation of Mac chips that we could expect in Spring 2022. So yeah, we could reportedly expect new Macs with 4nm chips next Spring, though let’s hope that Spring event does happen.

Story of the day:

Mark your calendars! Apple WWDC 2021 starts June 7 as an online-only event

And Finally for the hottest news today, part 2, and speaking of Spring, for the hottest news today let’s talk Apple and Events but.. It’s not what we were expecting. Now that the March event didn’t happen, we’ve been waiting for some sort of announcement from Cupertino and well, the company just sent out press invitations for WWDC 2021 which will be an online-only event once again, happening from June 7th to June 11th. Apple says that they will be offering “unique insight into the future of: iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS.” Pretty much like last year they’re expecting around 28 million developers to join the show and that’s all great but let’s speculate for a minute. For the past couple of year’s we’ve had major announcements like the return of the Mac Pro, and the Apple Silicon transition this year. And right now, Apple has a ton of products in the pipe line like those new iPad Pros, the AirTags, new AirPods which I won’t count out even from a silent release at least by Thursday.

Pocketnow Daily: iPhone 13 Notch LEAKED: Uhhh.. (video)

Samsung Galaxy S21+ starting at $100, iPad Pros and more also on sale

Apple’s M1 MacBook Air, gaming laptops and more are on sale today

Apple Watch Series 6, iPhone 11 Pro and more devices are on sale today

Apple’s latest 10.2-inch iPad and Jabra headphones are on sale right now

As expected, the news today begin with deals, and I gotta hand it to Samsung cause the company continues to be aggressive about them. They’re currently running a “Discover Spring Event” which brings some good deals for their smartphones but of course, you need to have a device to trade-in. Starting with the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra which is available for 750 bucks, along with 50 dollars in instant credit. Now, probably the best deal is that the Galaxy S21 and the S21+ are both available for 100 bucks and you will also get the 100 dollars in instant credit for add-ons. If you’re looking for the Ultra, that one is available for 299 and you also get the credit. Finally, if you’re looking for a foldable, the Z Fold 2 is available for 1449 and again, all of these prices are if you have an eligible device to trade-in. Moving on from Sammy, You can grab the iPhone 11 Pro for 120 dollars off on Woot, leaving it at 880. Finally, the Google Pixel 4 is available for 317 dollars off its original price leaving it at 482. We have more deals on MacBooks, headphones, the Apple Watch and more.

Intel aims to sell ARM chips to Apple days after anti-Mac ad campaign

More evidence of next iPad Pro chip being based on Apple M1 surfaces

Let’s move on to Intel just for a quick second as it looks like their marketing team doesn’t talk to their other teams. If you remember, last week they launched those ads with Justin Long, aka the Mac himself, on how PCs are better since they’re still powered by Intel. Well, now their CEO just went on to basically say that they want to become a major provider of products that include x86 and ARM chips, with one of the companies they want to serve being Apple. I know, hilarious considering that they sold their ARM business years ago, and about Apple we know why. But alright, speaking of Apple and chips, let’s talk about the upcoming iPad Pros. The guys over at 9to5Mac have found references of an A14X chip in the iOS 14.5 Source Code which we are still waiting on. And apparently, the report mentions that the A14X is based on the T8103, which is the codename for the M1 Chip. This goes along with a previous Bloomberg report where they claimed we could expect an updated and faster processor that was on par with the M1. So yeah, we should be getting close to those iPad Pros with better processors, mini-LED displays and more, hopefully some time in April. If only they ran macOS..

LG might shutter its phone division after failing to find a buyer

Let’s move the spotlight on to some rather sad news, when it comes to LG. Last week some reports came out that LG’s Rollable was back in play, even with the rumors that LG might sell their smartphone business. Well, now we have a new report from a Korean news agency that claims that LG’s plans to sell their phone business have fallen through, for real this time. Apparently local sources claim that LG is now planning to shutter their smartphone division altogether after their negotiations didn’t work out. So apparently, not only the plans for the Rollable but for other phones like the LG “Rainbow” concept have been put on Ice at the moment. So of course, these are just reports but nothing to not be worried about given the amount of innovation LG meant to the market. We have heard from previous reports that the employees would be shifted on to other positions within LG, we hope that’s true but of course, we should wait until we get official statements.

Qualcomm is working on a Nintendo Switch-like console that runs Android 12: Report

Now, let’s talk about Qualcomm and the Nintendo Switch.. Yeah, completely unrelated since the Switch runs on NVIDIA, but you’ll get where I’m going. According to a new report from Android Police, Qualcomm is taking a Snapdragon chip and putting it into an Android-powered game console that has detachable controllers and the ability to connect to televisions. So yeah it’s not really a Nintendo Switch but.. Qualcomm wants to do a Switch. The report claims that the core of the device would be thicker and bulkier than a smartphone. And we could expect this chip to be the next generation of Snapdragon Silicon which should be released some time in Q1 of 2022, meaning it’s most likely the 888s successor. It would also bring a 6,000 mAh battery with Quick Charge, 5G, dual-zone haptics, an SD card Slot, Bluetooth and more with the controllers being sourced by a third party. Now, this console would be running a “customized launcher” of Android 12, and besides the Play Store, it could also brings the Epic Games store pre-installed which makes it pretty interesting considering their catalog. The target price is reportedly set at 300 dollars but, we don’t know exactly what that will get you. We’ll see how the reports evolve as, well we already saw the NVIDIA Shield flop.. That said, it may have been ahead of its time as Android games are far better now.

Story of the day:

iPhone 13 tipped to use 120Hz LTPO displays from Samsung

Alleged image of iPhone 13 series front glass shows a smaller notch

But finally, for the hottest news today let’s talk iPhone 13 as, the reports have kinda slowed down but it looks like they’re picking up again. Over the past couple of months, most of the iPhone 13 reports have kept mentioning 2 things: 120Hz refresh rate and a shorter notch. Well, now we have a new report and even some hands on leaks for these 2 things. Starting with a new report from the Elec which says that Samsung Display will convert their OLED line-up dedicated to Apple into LTPO Displays within the first half of 2021 as, we’re expecting both Pro models to feature this technology that also allows them to run at 120Hz. But, moving on to hotter leaks, we have some new images recovered by MacRumors that show the front glass cover for 3 of the iPhone 13 variants. You can see the significantly smaller notch, and they do show how apple has rearranged Face ID and slimmed down some of the components to achieve this smaller notch. Another thing to notice is how the ear piece on this notch would be next to the phone’s frame, pretty much the design Android Phones have followed for about two years. We will apparently have this for a year as Ming Chi Kuo claims that we could be seeing some punch holes next year.

The new iPad Air is also 69 dollars off, leaving that at 680. If you’re looking for a foldable, the Moto RAZR is 200 dollars off, leaving it at 1200 shipped, I know still too expensive for what you’re getting. Speaking of foldables, Samsung’s trade-in deals let you get the Galaxy Z Fold 2 for just 1450 if you have an eligible device of course. The same goes for the S21 which is available for 100 bucks, or the S21 Ultra for 500 bucks if you have a device to trade-in. Finally, the M1 MacBook Air is also 70 dollars off, leaving the 512 gigs of storage model for 1179. Samsung Galaxy A52 5G offers the luxury of a 120Hz screen on tight budget

Samsung’s new Galaxy A72 borrows flagship tricks for mid-range glory

Let’s move on to Samsung for the first time today as, the company just had their “Awesome Unpacked Event” earlier today where we got 2 new devices. Let’s start with the Galaxy A72 which brings a 6.7-inch FHD+ display running at 90Hz, it is powered by the Snapdragon 720G along with 6 or 8 gigs of RAM and up to 256 gigs of expandable storage. It also brings a 5,000 mAh battery, along with a quad camera system at the back which includes a 64MP primary shooter. Moving on to the Galaxy A52, aka the second highest selling phone of last year, this one brings a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED Display at FHD+ and running at 120Hz. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G, along with up to 8 gigs of RAM and up to 256 gigs of storage. It comes in an LTE variant and a 5G variant which vary in specs of course. It also brings 4 cameras at the back with that same 64MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra wide, a 5MP depth sensor and a macro. The Galaxy A72 will cost you 449 Euros for the entry level variant and the A52 will set you back at 349 Euros for the 4G model or 429 Euros for the 5G variant.

OnePlus smartwatch won’t run Wear OS, and I’m excited about it!

OnePlus Watch leak tips a week’s battery in 20 minutes charge, 4GB storage and more

Moving on to OnePlus, the company already confirmed that we will be getting their first smartwatch with the OnePlus 9 Series on March 23rd but, we don’t have much information on the Watch just yet. Now, we have a new report from Pricebaba that claims that the Watch will bring a circular dial that could measure 46mm, it’ll come in 2 color variants being Black and Silver. It’ll also bring an IP68 rating, as well as 4GB of onboard storage. The leak also mentions that it’ll offer automatic workout detection, a swimming mode, sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, stress tracking and more. You can also expect a week of battery life with just 20 minutes of a charge thanks to Warp Charging. And this sounds to good to be true, but according to Pete Lau, it’s because they’re doing this. He wrote in a forum post that they developed the OS based on an RTOS and not WearOS, because they believe it provides a smooth and reliable experience while delivering great battery life, covering some of the biggest concerns people have when buying a smart watch. So yeah, this watch is actually sounding pretty good and we’re very close to this event so stay tuned.

iPad Pro refresh with a Mini-LED display slated to arrive in April: Report

Now, here’s a good twist, it looks like OnePlus is getting the 23rd all to themselves because, the Apple leaks we’re all wrong. See, we were expecting invites yesterday but, that didn’t happen. Well, now we have a new report from DigiTimes that claims that Apple won’t launch their new mini-LED 12.9-inch iPad Pro until at least the second quarter of the year.. Which begins on April 1st. Apparently this is because the supplier of mini-LED backlit panels has 50% of their production capacity for this tablet booked to begin in the second quarter of 2021. Early this morning we also got a new tweet from Jon Prosser where he claims that the event will now happen on April and that he will explain details on his show later.. But he will still be shaving his eyebrows. So yeah, this is the first time Apple will be hosting an event in April since their special event back in 2010 where they revealed iOS 4. Finally, just to jog your memory we are expecting these iPad Pros, AirTags, hopefully some AirPods and maybe even an Apple TV, let’s wait and see when it will actually happen.

Story of the day:

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 and Galaxy Z Flip successors will debut in Q3 2021: Report

Galaxy Note series isn’t dead, but don’t expect a new one this year

Finally, let’s move the spotlight on to Samsung and the mystery of the missing Galaxy Note. It’s already March and we have no codenames or any information on the 2021 Galaxy Note Series and I mean it makes some sense as Samsung just brought the S Pen to the Galaxy S and they’re reportedly working hard on their foldables. However, the company did say that we will still be getting a Galaxy Note but, not on the typical schedule. Well, at the latest Samsung shareholders meeting in Korea, Samsung’s CEO said “There is no new Galaxy Note this year” as translated by the machine. He continued on to say that “it is not that we will not release new products. The timing may vary, but next year we are preparing to continue to do so”. So, I guess this serves as some actual confirmation that Samsung will be taking a break from the Note this year, as leaks claim that they are working on bringing stylus support to the Galaxy Z Fold line, which I believe should turn into the Galaxy Note eventually. And if you’re wondering how Samsung’s launch schedule is looking like, a new report from Reuters claims that Sammy will be launching the Z Fold 3 and the Z Flip 2 in Q3 along with some Wear OS watches, and the Galaxy S21 FE in Q4.

Apple’s iPhone XS, Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and more are on sale

Samsung gaming monitors, Razer and HyperX are also on sale today

Save up to $400 on Sony 4K Smart TVs, sound systems and more

New week, but the news today still begin with deals. Starting with Cupertino’s iPhone XS which, like I don’t know how it’s still sold but it is, and you can find for 350 on Woot but of course, this is a refurbished variant.. Though better than grabbing an iPhone SE for a higher price. If you move on to B&H, the Galaxy Note 10 Plus is available for 480 dollars off its original price, leaving the 256 gigs of storage variant for 620 bucks . Speaking of Samsung devices, Samsung’s trade-in deals still let you get the regular Galaxy S21 for 99 dollars or the S21 Ultra for 499 and you get 100 dollars in instant credit with certain variants. Moving on to Amazon, the Apple Watch Series 6 is 25 dollars off for the 40 mm variant, leaving that at 374. Finally, Amazon’s new Echo Dot is also 15 dollars off, leaving it at 35 dollars shipped. We have a ton of more deals on Sony TVs, Hisense TVs, Razer Gaming peripherals and more.

Microsoft Surface Duo 2 is reportedly coming in second half of 2021 with major upgrades

Let’s move on to Microsoft and everyone’s favorite product of 2020, the Surface Duo. We know the story about how the first model was delayed multiple time and was then released to a ton of bugs in the software and old hardware. Well, according to a new report from Windows Latest, the Surface Duo 2 has apparently been in development since the second half of last year, and is scheduled to launch in the fall of this year though, Microsoft’s plans could change. When it comes to the hardware, we should expect a faster processor that is 5G capable and an improved camera but, apparently software seems to be the primary focus of the Duo 2. And I mean, it makes a ton of sense considering all the bugs it came with… but aside from the software, I’m more curious about the camera. We should be getting more information on this phone in the upcoming months and I mean, I hope they nail it this time.

Google cuts Play Store commission fee to 15% for most developers

Now, let’s shift the spotlight on to Google as, they just pulled an Apple.. Quite literally. The company announced today that they are cutting their Play Store Commission fee from 30% to 15% but, there is a catch. The fee is being reduced to 15% for the first 1 million dollars of revenue every developer earns each year, and once you reach the 1 million, you will be charged the usual 30% commission every one is currently charged. For those of you who are developers in the audience, this reduced commission will come into effect starting on July 1st this year, and they claim that 99% of the developers will benefit from this move. This will allow them to see a 50% reduction in fees, allowing them to scale up and grow by being able to hire more engineers and other people, which is kind of an irony if they start making some real money. What’s weird about it is that Google doubled down in their 30% stance last year after Apple launched their small business program but, it’s a move that benefits everyone regardless. I guess developers can thank Epic Games for this one too.

OnePlus 9 Pro might support 50W wireless charging. Hello, Apple and Samsung!

Why wait for launch? Here’s your official look at OnePlus 9 Pro

1Hz-120Hz! Yep, that’s what OnePlus 9 Pro’s display will offer

But alright, we’re getting closer to March 23rd which is OnePlus 9 Series Day and, when we said we should be getting more leaks soon.. I didn’t think the company would be the ones doing the leaking. Yesterday the company just flat out revealed the designed of the OnePlus 9 Pro on Twitter, where they say “Specially designed reflective glass elevates the Morning Mist 9 Pro to new levels of design excellence. On the pictures you get to see the new camera module, the punch hole display and well.. That’s it. Nothing left for the imagination here. Speaking of the display and sort of confirmed things, a new report from PC Mag claims that the 9 Pro will support adaptive refresh rate that will go as low as 1Hz and as high as 120Hz of course. What this means is that while you scroll it’ll go at 120Hz but, if you’re watching a video at 30fps, the screen will change the refresh rate to 30Hz. Finally, moving on to a new leak from Pricebaba, the OnePlus 9 Pro will bring 50W wireless charging and 65W wired charging to power up that 4500 mAh battery. Most of the leaks so far are about the 9 Pro and the 9 so, we’ll see what the company decides to bring with that 9R variant which has been kept under wraps, at least more than the other variants.

Story of the day:

Apple AirPods 3 not coming anytime soon: Report

Finally, for the hottest news today, let’s talk Apple and AirPods. So, we’re exactly a week away from the rumored Apple event announcement, and well, still no invites. Apple has historically sent these a week early, so things start getting weird, but wait, there’s more. According to a ton of leaks from trusted sources, on that we’re supposed to get products like AirTags, iPads and, AirPods…., I mean, last week we got a ton of pictures of those AirPods including renders and even hands on images which made it look like they were ready to go. Well hold it right there. Yesterday we got a new report from Ming Chi Kuo that claims that mass production for the AirPods Pro will start until the third quarter of 2021, meaning that they will probably launch until Q4. We also have a new Weibo post from Love To Dream where he claims in his cryptic fashion that “there are no AirPods in his dream”. Shortly after he also mentioned in a tweet that the second gen AirPods will not be discontinued yet, kind of going along with what Ming Chi Kuo said. So yeah, even with all of the IRL leaks and everything we’re not exactly sure if Apple will be launching these on this March 23 Event, which we’re also not even sure if it’ll happen on that date as we should’ve gotten that invite at 9am today.

Get a new 13-inch MacBook Pro and the Sony Xperia 1 II on sale right now

Mario Day comes with savings on the Nintendo Switch and tons of games

Alright, I don’t mean to surprise you, but we’re gonna start today off with deals. You know you love them. Let’s start it off with Apple’s M1 MacBook Pro which I love and is currently 100 dollars off on Amazon, starting at 1199 and it has the same discount if you go for more storage. If you go for the 16-inch Intel model, for some whatever reason, that one is 200 dollars off if you go for 16GBs of RAM and 512GB of storage, leaving it at 2199. The Google Pixel 3a is 146 dollars off, leaving it at 333 dollars shipped. The Sony Xperia 1 Mark 2 which I know a lot of you love is 101 dollars off, leaving it at 1098, still pretty expensive. Finally, Samsung’s eternal trade-in deals are still available, meaning if you want to grab the Galaxy S21 Ultra, it is still available for 499 with 100 dollars in instant credit if you have an eligible device. We have a ton of deals on gaming monitors, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox games in the links in the description.

Apple lowering iPhone 12 Mini production due to ‘far lower’ demand than expected

Let’s switch to reports and rumors before we take it back to the hottest news and, this time it’s about iPhones. Earlier this year we had a report from DigiTimes claiming that Apple would scale back iPhone 13 mini production due to low demand. Well, according to a new Nikkei Asia report, iPhone 12 mini sales have been far lower than Apple initially expected prompting the company to cut down orders for the mini from their original plan for the first half of the year.. Pretty much confirmation to what we heard earlier. The report mentions that some suppliers were even asked to stop building components that were specifically for the mini. Apparently Cupertino will cut planned production by more than 70% at least for the time being. That being said, Apple reportedly plans to cut production of all models by 20% so, the mini is taking a 50% cutback which is still huge. Many analysts claim that the low sales are because the iPhone 11 and 12 have similar prices and offer larger displays and batteries for a almost the same price. Let’s see what ends up happening with the 2021 line up if the mini doesn’t pick up over the rest of the year.

ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate has more RAM than my gaming PC

But alright, let’s get back to official news as, we just got the ROG Phone 5 Series and well it sounds great, but I’m not sure about the looks. well it sounds Michael Fisher showed me his Ultimate unit yesterday and while he loves it, struggling with not assuming it’s a white phone with a broken back. The company took to the virtual stage to introduce 3 new gaming smartphones, the ROG Phone 5, 5 Pro and the 5 Ultimate. Of course we’ll be focusing on the Ultimate here which brings a 6.78-inch AMOLED Display running at 144 Hz with 300 Hz touch sampling. It is powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC, along with 18 gigs RAM, I know… 18 GIGS OF RAM, half a terabyte of non expandable storage that allows support for external hard drives through NTFS, and a massive 6000 mAh battery. I mean those numbers almost sound illegal in certain countries.. Meaning damn Asus is NOT playing around. When it comes to the cameras, you get a 64 megapixel main sensor from Sony, a 13 megapixel ultra wide and ugh, I don’t even know why they bother with the 5 megapixel Macro. The phone still comes with the Air Triggers at the top with the higher-end models bringing other extra buttons as well and you can still buy the gaming pad separately. The base model for the ROG Phone 5 starts at 800 Euros, the Rog Phone 5 Pro goes for 1200 Euros, while the Ultimate will cost you 1300 Euros. If you’re interested in availability and other details, make sure you check out the links in the description.

Apple AirPods 3 alleged first look is here

Apple AirPods 3 appear in alleged real-life images. Take a look!

Let’s move the spotlight back on to Apple but, not for the products you would expect, let’s talk AirPods. We’ve been waiting on the third generation AirPods for quite some time and rumors hint that we could get them at Apple’s upcoming March Event. Now we have a new report from Gizmochina that shows some renders of the AirPods 3 which were apparently based on images from suppliers. From the renders you can notice the shorter stem and the vents at the top, showing a ton of resemblance to the current AirPods Pro, but without the silicone tips. The case is also shrinking down a bit and getting wider. We also have some IRL images of these headphones from a tipster on Twitter that, doesn’t have the greatest track record, but these look like the real deal. So yeah, these are pretty much turning into AirPods Pro when it comes to design but lacking the actual Pro features like Active Noise Cancelling. Again, we’re expecting these at the March Event which is reportedly 13 days away so, we’ll keep you posted if we get more leaks.

Story of the day:

OnePlus confirms a 50MP ultra-wide camera for its upcoming flagship

Pete Lau teases OnePlus 9 Pro’s UW camera capabilities

And finally, for the hottest news today let’s talk OnePlus as, they have managed to take up a great amount of the spotlight today, which makes sense as we get close to the OnePlus 9 Event. Pete Lau has been on a sort of Ming Chi Kuo type of run these past couple of days, with the exception that what he says aren’t predictions. First he revealed that we will be getting a charger, and now he confirmed that we will be getting a 50 megapixel ultra wide camera for the 9 Pro with a Sony IMX766 Sensor. He also showed some sample images where, apparently they took 2 ultra wide images and you can definitely see that there is way less distortion on the 9 Pro, but of course, we’ll have to test that to see how accurate it is. Now, speaking of that camera, MKBHD posted a picture of the new “Pro” UI that reportedly comes thanks to the Hasselblad partnership that the company has been teasing. From this picture we can see how the Pro mode let’s you control Shutter Speed, ISO, Focus and more. So, we’re currently expecting three phones from OnePlus, the 9R, the 9 and the 9 Pro. The 9 Pro will reportedly pack a 6.78-inch display, running at 120Hz, Snapdragon 888 5G, 8 or 12 gigs of RAM and your typical amount of storage. From all these teasers and leaks they’re focusing a lot on the camera, where we should expect a 48 megapixel main sensor, that 50 megapixel ultra wide, and then two other cameras that are still pending to be leaked.

Samsung Galaxy S21 series, OnePlus devices and more are on sale today

Several iPad models and more Android devices are on sale right now

The official news today begin with deals but, you already knew that. Starting with OnePlus phones which are about to get a refresh, Amazon currently has the OnePlus 8T for 150 dollars off, leaving it at just 600 dollars. If you go on to OnePlus.com, you can grab the 8 Pro for 599 if you use the promo code we’ll have in the description, or 699 without it which is still a pretty good deal. Samsung’s infinite trade-in deals are still going strong, where you can grab the Galaxy S21 for just 99 dollars, along with 100 dollars in instant credit. You can also get the S21 Ultra for 499, with those same 100 dollars in credit. Now, back to Amazon, Cupertino’s 10.2-inch iPad is 30 dollars off its original price leaving it at 299. We have a ton of more deals on Sony Earbuds and Headphones, Pixel smartphones, more Samsung phones and more in the links in the description.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 leak tips AMD and Intel CPUs with April launch window

Oh boy we have a ton of leaks today for you guys so, let’s start with Microsoft as it looks like they’re planning to update the Surface Laptop line up.. Like finally. We have a new report from WinFuture that claims that the Surface Laptop 4 will come in both Intel and AMD flavors, also finally. The design language will apparently remain the same with a “sleek metallic build in a variety of colors to choose from”. When it comes to the internals, you can choose between Intel’s 11th Gen or AMD 4000 CPUs which are actually from last generation.. The AMD variants will come with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. When it comes to Intel you can actually go up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD. According to the report, the Intel model should get you Iris Plus 950 integrated Graphics, while AMDs will of course ship with Radeon Vega graphics. Finally, the Surface Laptop 4 will reportedly come in 13.5 and 15 inch sizes, with a Surface Connect port, a single USB-C and a single USB-A port. Sadly, we don’t have any information on price tags but, we could expect these some time in April.

Google Pixel 5a is reportedly launching on June 11

Alright, let’s move the spotlight on to Pixels which are finally starting to get some traction. Last week we covered a new report from Jon Prosser where he said we should expect new Pixel Buds in mid-April and a new phone on June 11th but, he didn’t specify the phone. Well, earlier this morning he updated that report saying that his source has confirmed that the Pixel we’re getting this June is the 5a. On that video we speculated how it was most likely the 5a as, it recently got leaked by OnLeaks. Going by those leaks we should expect a 6.4-inch OLED display at FHD+, 5G, dual cameras at the back with a 12MP primary and a 16MP ultra wide, same punch hole, same fingerprint scanner at the back and the headphone jack is still there. So, again, it looks like Google wants to refresh the Pixel 4a 5G, with a new processor and updated internals, and by the looks of it they’re getting rid of the smaller “a” phone since their flagship is now a smaller phone. So yes, we should be getting more information soon on things like the processor, color variants and more so, stay tuned.

Yes, OnePlus 9 will come with a charger. Alas, that’s a thing we worry about now!

OnePlus 9 Pro concept poses for camera rocking the classic sandstone finish

Speaking of things we should be getting soon, let’s talk about the OnePlus 9 which is pretty much a week away. Yesterday we got the official launch date which is happening on March 23rd as well as a first glance at their Hasselblad partnership. Late last week, Tech Droider posted some pictures of a OnePlus 9 Pro concept which was made based on all of the leaks we’ve got. Probably the hottest thing here is that he claims that the Sandstone finish is coming back to the 9 Pro, yaaaayyy… and on this concept we can see a great amount of detail on the new camera module. This camera module reportedly consists of a 48MP primary, a 50MP, an 8MP and a 2MP, cause someone in that engineering department really loves those macro lenses.. And just that guy. But alright, moving on from the concept and to official details, a fan asked on a OnePlus forum if the 9 Series would come with a charger in the box.. You know because we have to worry about that now… To that, Pete Lau responded not to worry about it, the OnePlus 9 Series does bring one. So yeah, we’ll keep you posted on any other OnePlus 9 updates as we just keep getting closer, and we hope the charger thing is not just a this is the last year thing.

Story of the day:

It will take two more years for iPhones to bring a ‘Persicope’ Telephoto lens

And finally, for the hottest news today, it looks like Ming Chi Kuo is the new king of March Madness, cause he’s taking his report as seriously as we like. On his latest report he details the path for the next 3 iPhones and their camera modules where, he claims that Cupertino will introduce a periscope telephoto lens, but not this year. Actually, maybe not even next year as the report claims the 2023 iPhones. Previous reports from Kuo claimed that we should expect these in 2022 but, it looks like that won’t be the case. Speaking on that “path for the next 3 iPhones” he claims that the 2021 iPhones will feature an upgrade telephoto lens maybe upgrading to a 6-element lens from the current 5. When it comes to 2022 we should also expect further camera improvements that will also focus on the telephoto, upgrading to a 7-element lens system for the iPhone 14. Kuo also claims that Apple will be adopting a new FaceID transmitter for the 2021 iPhones which is made out of plastic materials instead of glass. However, it’s still not clear if this design change will affect user benefits, whether that is how good FaceID is or if it will affect the design but, it does mean that Cupertino is cutting costs down. So yeah, Cupertino will be slightly tweaking their cameras for the next 2 years but, it looks like the next big hardware update will come 2 years from now..

We have more deals on AirPods Pro, the 16-inch MacBook Pro, TCL phones and more in the links below.

OPPO Find X3 series launch set for March 11

Let’s stay with the official news as, it looks like we’re in for a busy March, starting with OPPO. We’ve been covering leaks of the Find X3 Series for a while now, including launch dates.. And now we have the real deal. The company took to Twitter to send out press invitations for an event happening on March 11th. No secrets here as they’re titling it OPPO Find X3 Series Launch Event, but it does have the caption “Awaken Color”. That last bit is most likely alluding to the 6.7-inch OLED display we’re expecting which is rumored to bring some impressive capabilities. We’re expecting 3 phones but, speaking about the Find X3 Pro, we’ve heard that this phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC, a 4500 mAh battery, run Android 11 out of the box, and come in a single variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. As for the cameras, the rumors have pointed to a triple camera array with a new main 50MP lens from Sony and it should cost somewhere around 1000 Euros. We’ll see what we get in a few days.

OnePlus 9 Pro leak predicts support for 4K video capture at 120 FPS

OnePlus 9 / 9 Pro color options tipped ahead of purported March launch

OnePlus 9 series, OnePlus Watch launch date tipped to be March 23

Talking about things we’ll be getting in March, let’s move the spotlight on to OnePlus as we have a lot of ground to cover today. Starting with the date, earlier this morning they posted a new tweet with an image showing the Moon’s surface and the Earth far away with the caption “Something new is on the horizon”. The tweet tells us to stay tuned for March 8th and according to some tipsters, on this specific date we’ll be getting the official date for the event which is reportedly March 23rd. We’re currently expecting 3 phones from OnePlus for the 9 Series, including the OnePlus 9R or Lite, 9 and 9 Pro. Another tipster also shared the color variants we should be getting which will vary depending on what carrier you get. Just to mention the ones for the unlocked variants, the regular 9 is getting an Astral Black, Arctic Sky and Winter Mist, while the 9 Pro will have Stellar Black, Forest Green and Morning Mist. Finally, we also have a new leak on the camera capabilities. According to the tip, the OnePlus 9 Pro will be able to capture 8K video, and 4K videos at 120 FPS. Nice boost when compared to the 4K at 60 we got with the 8 Pro. The new camera setup should include a 50MP main sensor from Sony, along with a 48MP wide angle. And I mean, we’re already in March so leaks should get pretty busy in the next few weeks.

Kuo predicts a foldable iPhone might arrive in 2023

Apple will go for a hole-punch on ‘some iPhones’ in 2022: Kuo

iPhone SE refresh arrives in 2022 with a faster chip and 5G support: Report

Finally, for the hottest news today part one, cause that’s become kind of a theme lately, let’s talk Apple. Let’s begin with the future Apple products, meaning next year and further, and we’ll leave the last segment for the stuff we expect this year. Yes, Ming Chi Kuo went on a rampage yesterday on things we should be expecting from Apple soon and not so soon. Let’s start with the iPhone SE as, we were hearing some rumors that we’d be getting a new model some time this year but, according to Kuo, this refresh won’t happen until 2022. According to his prediction, it will be rocking the same design as the current SE, meaning the iPhone 8 which is kind of disappointing considering it already feels pretty dated. It’ll of course be equipped with the latest A chip and it will bring 5G support. However, there is still rumors for that iPhone SE Plus which has apparently been delayed for the second half of this year. On another note, Kuo also claims that some iPhones might feature a punch hole design next year, claiming that if production yields are good enough, all 2022 models might use the design. This means that Apple either found out a way to hide Face ID under the display, or we’re sticking to Touch ID. Finally, let’s talk foldable, as Kuo mentions that the foldable panel will measure around 7.5 and 8-inches arriving some time in 2023. However, he does claim that this project hasn’t “officially kicked off yet”, meaning there might be a ton of changes and it could probably not even happen.

Story of the day:

Apple is reportedly NOT adopting USB-C for iPhones anytime soon

iPhone 13 series to rock a smaller notch, larger battery, and upgraded camera tech: Kuo

Finally, for the hottest news today, part 2… again.. That’s some very strong coffee Kuo had a sip of, cause he also chimed in on more things we could expect from this year’s iPhones. Let’s begin by talking about USB-C, according to the report, they claim that USB-C is detrimental to their iPhone program’s profitability, but its waterproof specification is actually lower than Lightning and MagSafe, so if Apple does abandon Lightning, they might directly go for a port-less MagSafe iPhone, instead of adopting USB-C. Which I mean, it makes sense I guess, we just hope MagSafe gets better. Moving on to the actual iPhones Kuo is reiterating some rumors we’ve heard before, just giving us some reassurance. He claims that the whole iPhone 13 family will support a smaller notch, with the same width but getting thinner as Cupertino is re-arranging the Face ID sensors. Kuo mentions that both of the Pros will bring 120Hz refresh rate with that new LTPO display. Also, speaking of the Pros, the LiDAR sensor will apparently remain exclusive to those 2 for the time being. Apparently all of the iPhone 13 models will bring sensor-shift image stabilization technology as well, with other improvements to the cameras as well. We’ll also be getting Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X60 5G modem, larger batteries, and again, no USB-C.

Samsung Galaxy S21, Google Pixel 4a and more are on sale today

The OnePlus 8 series, Microsoft laptops and more are on sale today

4th-gen Echo, and more accessories to pimp out your home office are on sale right now

Let’s end the week like we start it, with deals. I find it crazy that phones that were launched a month ago are already seeing discounts but the brand new Galaxy S21 is now 150 dollars off on both Amazon and B&H, meaning it starts at 700 dollars and add free shipping to that. Moving on to Verizon for a second, they have the Google Pixel 4a for 240 dollars off if you have a device to trade-in and you grab a new phone line, cause of course it wasn’t gonna be that easy. The new Amazon Echo is 20 dollars off, leaving it at 80 dollars shipped. OnePlus also has the OnePlus 8 for 200 dollars off if you get the 12GB of RAM variant, leaving it at 600 dollars. The 8 Pro is also getting the same treatment where that same variant will cost you 800 dollars. Finally, the 13-inch MacBook Pro is available for 80 dollars off on Amazon, leaving the entry level model for 1219 dollars. We also have deals on more Amazon speakers, Surface Laptops, Beats Headphones and more in the links below.

Samsung’s “Buy and Try” program will let you try out foldables for 100 days

Let’s move on to foldables and official news, for a couple of segments actually… I know, what’s wrong with the world today? But don’t worry, they’re actually worth it. We know that Samsung is probably the biggest player in the foldable market but, this market isn’t exactly mainstream just yet, with the biggest problem being the price tags and the existing concerns. I mean, imagine spending so much money on a phone and not being sure if it’s sturdy enough to last your average use.. Which yes, is why we have the After The Buzz series.. Let me know if you’d like that for the Z Fold 2. Well, it looks like Samsung kind of has a solution for this. The company is launching a new “buy and try” program on Samsung.com where, if you buy the Galaxy Z Fold 2 or a Z Flip 5G, you will have to pay the full price for the device *but*.., instead of the typical 14 days or 30 days for a return period, you’ll have up to 100 days to return the device if you figure out that this isn’t the right fit for you. And of course, you’re still paying full price for the device unless you get one of those trade-in deals but, if you were thinking on buying and weren’t sold.. This is a pretty good way to test the waters out. We’ll make sure to have links for both of these devices in the links below… though that said, this program ends on April 1st. You might have to act quick, but then it makes me wonder if there’s something else coming in April?

OPPO Find X3 series alleged price and color variants leaked

Now let’s talk about OPPO, as we’re still expecting the company to launch a Find X3 Series relatively early this year if last year was any indication. Rumors hint that it would come out some time in March so, naturally, certifications and leaked images have started flowing in. According to a new report from 91Mobiles, their source claims that the Find X3 Pro will come in 4 color options, that being blue, white, orange and black. Now as for specs, apparently there will only be a single variant that’ll pack 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and it will be priced between €1000 and €1200. Now, we’re also expecting the Find X3 Neo which will reportedly be a rebranded Reno5 Pro+ which will bring the same amount of RAM and Storage for around €851 and €973. Finally, the Find X3 Lite will bring 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and it will be priced at around €400 to €500. Now, focusing on the Pro, we’re hearing that the other specs include a Snapdragon 888 SoC, Android 11, a 4500 mAh battery, triple cameras at the back and OPPO will apparently be focusing a lot on that new display. We’re pretty much already in March so, let’s see what we get.

14-inch MacBook Pro to arrive with mini-LED display and more?

Let’s move on to Apple and those Macs we’re expecting to come very soon. Earlier this week we covered a new report from Ming Chi Kuo where he claimed we would be getting 2 new Macs in the second half of 2021,.. you know those that sound just too good to be true by featuring an SD Card reader and an HDMI port, along with a brighter display.. all things consumers actually want from a pro computer. Now, we have a new report from DigiTimes that gives us more information on those new displays. According to the report “Apple is expected to unveil 14 and 16-inch mini-LED backlit MacBook Pro models, with a company called Radiant being the exclusive supplier of BLUs . Of course, this just serves as further conformation that Apple is finally moving on to these displays after years of rumors. As for the Macs, other reports claim that we should expect them around the middle of the year but still in the second half so, September or October event? Other things we’re expecting from these Macs include new and faster Apple Silicon chips, MagSafe with faster charging, and they could also be getting rid of the Touch Bar. Honestly, these just keep sounding to good to be true that I’m seriously gonna have a drink and celebrate if they become a reality. Fine maybe more than one drink.

Story of the day:

Facebook wants you to believe that ads are good in the name of small businesses

And finally, for the most hilarious news today, let’s talk about Facebook. You know I’d rather avoid talking about them as I’ve never been secretive about my lack of admiration for its practices, but here goes. Over the past couple of weeks, maybe even months, Facebook has been going after Apple for the privacy changes we’re supposed to be getting with iOS 14.5, where you’ll choose if you want apps to track you or not. Well, yesterday, Facebook put out a new blogpost titled,.. hear this, “Let’s Talk About Why Personalized Ads Matter”. If you want to read it, we’ll leave the link in the description but just to give you the shorter version, they are trying to convince you that “you need your online habits tracked, in order for them to provide more ads for you, and you should actually be thankful that Facebook is doing that”. Oh, and they’re actually launching an ad campaign to go along with it titled “Good Ideas Deserve to be Found”. Now, here’s the thing, we agree that Good Ideas Deserve to be found, I mean, the ad does make a point on how difficult it is for small businesses to be found, the question is why are they insisting so much on the tracking. It’s simple, those who want targeted ads will opt in, those who don’t want them, or find it creepy that they’re tracked, wont. Now, Facebook was attempting to sue Apple, we’re not sure on how that’s currently going but one of the reasons why it might not have made it to court, is because Facebook’s own employees agree that this is not a good move, considering their past actions with privacy and how they’re trying to sell themselves as freaking Robin Hood.
