HMD Global soft-launches mobile business with Nokia 150

If you’re a hardcore smartphone spec junkie, you may have little to cheer about today. But this does mark a new era for the Nokia brand, back on the market for the first time in close to two years. And it follows on from the company’s steady candybar heritage.

Meet the Nokia 150. Brand licensee HMD Global announced the device in single-SIM and dual-SIM variants. The back shell is honest-to-goodness polycarbonate while the front of it all features distinct T9 and function buttons.

The 2.4-inch QVGA screen will let you tap into FM radio, a video player and Snake Xenzia preloaded(!). There’s a rear camera with LED flash that shoots VGA resolution pictures. And if the in-built storage ain’t enough for you, you can plop in a 32GB microSD card. The 1,020mAh is supposed to last for up to 22 hours of talk.

This lovely 2G phone will go on sale at the equivalent of $26 before applicable taxes and discounts in the Asia-Pacific, EMEA and European regions next quarter.

Gotta start somewhere, don’t we?
