Galaxy Tab S 10.5 press shots show more of what we expect

Samsung’s newest tablets really haven’t been kept under wraps too well. The tablet line, which is expected to be unveiled on June 12, consists of both 8.4 and 10.5-inch models (perhaps more), the latter of which has leaked multiple times. New alleged press images look to confirm what we’re already expecting to see unveiled. The front of the device shows the same TouchWiz launcher we’ve become used to, atop a build of Android 4.4, KitKat. Five-inch Acer phone coming to AT&T with Full HD screen and mid-range specs

Acer smartphones are not too common in North America, as the company has told us, with several occasions — at trade shows — that it focuses mainly on Europe and Asia. Nokia Lumia 635 stops by the FCC before reaching AT&T and T-Mobile

The Nokia Lumia 635 may not be the flagship that its size points it out to be, but then again, there is also a market for those that want a decent-sized phone with an enticing price tag. After its recent announcement and launch in certain countries abroad, we’re still waiting for it to reach US shores, and obviously there are steps in that process, which have already begun. The Nokia Lumia 635 has just stopped by the FCC, and judging by its frequency support of bands AWS 1700/2100 MHz and LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 7 and 17, this is clearly the same device to support both AT&T and ...

No more “Made in the USA” for Motorola: do you care? (Poll)

Motorola just announced that its short-lived effort to assemble smartphones in the United States is drawing to a close, with plans to shutter the Fort Worth plant that put together the Moto X before the end of the year. Motorola had big dreams for this project, not just bringing more tech jobs to the States, but helping to speed distribution of the sort of custom orders possible with all of Moto Maker’s options. Unfortunately, the project’s just been too expensive to maintain, and Moto X production will shift to ...

Oppo N1 Mini gets announced, and yes, it’s big

Oppo has done a good job in keeping itself on our radar lately with the rumors of a mini variant of the N1. The N1 might not be as popular as many would’ve wished in areas outside of China, but that doesn’t change the fact that there is a lot of cool to this phone. Its unique swivel-camera design is indeed a smart way to help you take a selfie, and if you’re not a fan of the huge 5.9-inch Oppo N1 to do this, here’s a smaller solution, sort of.The Oppo N1 Mini has now been made official, and the only thing that’s not “mini” about this phone is its ...

HTC Desire 816 review: a mid-tier phone with flagship DNA

Devices in HTC’s Desire line have never been intended as flagships, but phones sporting the vaunted “D label” have usually been quite well received. Rather than going all-in and stacking the spec list with high-end line items, Desires sit much closer to the middle. Such is the case with the Desire 816 – but it’s also packing more than a few pleasant surprises under the hood.Did HTC make too many concessions with its mid-tier phone, or did it manage to find the perfect balance between specs and user experience?Let’s find out in our Desire 816 review!•

Microsoft releases Files, its official file manager for Windows Phone 8.1

Many smartphone users will never need a stand-alone file manager on their handsets, content to work with files directly though the apps that create them. And for those who do feel the need for such a tool, plenty of third-party options exist – and Windows Phone certainly has more than a few to choose from. But what the platform’s lacked has been an official file manager from Microsoft – at least so far. Four weeks back, we saw Joe Belfiore tease the release of such an app, and last week

iOS 8 to launch without the rumored iPad split-screen multitasking?

For most of the needs of the average user, iOS as it currently works on an iPad is close to enough. We’re not saying it is, but it’s rare to find anybody that’s willing to invest on an iPad if it’s not for content consumption. Still, Apple wants you to consider the iPad as the only computer you need, and certain rumored features that were planned to get this going are apparently going to be delayed.Just a couple of ...
