While we’re waiting patiently for that long-rumored Hangouts 4.0 Android update to land, we get to watch iOS get all the fun a tad bit early. This isn’t much of a surprise, really – iOS saw a Hangouts redesign ages ago that still surpasses the sorry state of the Android app as it stands currently – but it is unfortunate for those of us who have been waiting for a long, long time for this to come to Android. The Hangouts app on Android has been badly in need of an overhaul for a while. Google has been working towards a full Material Design overhaul since last September, since it eschewed the drab gray hue of the previous version of the app for a more Material-esque green.
