Is Huawei taking inspiration from HTC’s designs?

If nothing else, HTC has always been renowned for its keen sense of design. Its software may have taken a detour down a treacherous path, but the hardware has rarely ever let us down. The Nexus One, One X, One M7, One M8, One S, DROID DNA, DROID Incredible, and many of the in-between devices were all rather pretty and built exceptionally well. (We’ll go ahead and forget the ThunderBolt, Rezound, and Inspire 4G existed, Deal? Deal.) In particular, though, HTC has been on a hot streak for the last year and a half. The One M7 was – and still is by many – considered to be one of the ...

Huawei MediaPad X1 vs Google Nexus 7 (Video)

The other tablet Huawei’s CEO specifically called out — alongside the Apple iPad Mini with Retina Display — when talking about the new MediaPad X1, is the LG-made Google Nexus 7. While we didn’t have a 2013 version of the Google slate with us, we compared the MediaPad X1 with the original Nexus 7. Not to worry though, we’re not focusing on specs and horsepower specifically, but we’re looking at how two tablets with the same display size can have ...

Huawei MediaPad X1 hands-on (Video)

With the occasion of the Huawei special event, where multiple devices have seen the light of day, we were told, multiple times, some of the reasons why the Huawei MediaPad X1 is better than the competition, and, the iPad Mini with Retina Display as well as the Nexus 7 2013 have been specifically mentioned. To be completely honest, we’re looking more at an ASUS FonePad competitor, but then again the MediaPad X1 has the ...

Huawei MediaPad X1 vs Apple iPad Mini (Video)

After looking at the Huawei MediaPad X1 by itself, we are now comparing it with Apple’s iPad Mini (not the Retina Display version), not necessarily because Huawei called the tablet out (alongside the Nexus 7) at the event, but because it’s a direct competitor for Huawei’s crossover. Of course, we have 7.9-inches on the iPad Mini versus 7 inches on the MediaPad, as well as no phone capability versus a slate with an actual headset, but there are a lot of similarities, and differences, between these two. We’re leaving the eternal Android vs iOS topic and question to ...

Huawei launches Ascend G6, MediaPad X1 and M1, TalkBand B1 wearable

Coming in to today’s Huawei MWC event, we thought we had a decent understanding of the sort of hardware the manufacturer had in store: a phone (if not two), two tablets, and a smartwatch. Leaks already outed details on some of those models, but we still needed confirmation. Today, Huawei announces its new spread of hardware, and it largely conforms to our expectations. For starters, we’ve got the Ascend G6 smartphone. As we previously heard, it will ...

MWC leaks: Huawei tablet, smartwatch pictured early

Huawei’s going to have one of the earliest big events of MWC, sharing its new wares this Sunday. Thanks to teasers, rumors, and a leak or two, we’ve already started to put together a pretty good picture of what to expect from the manufacturer. Two of the devices we’ve heard mentioned are some kind of smartwatch, as well a multimedia-focused tablet. Today we get a preview of two such ...
