Best OnePlus 9 series deals: where to buy OnePlus’ new flagships

The OnePlus 9 series is finally going up for pre-orders starting March 26 widely. And if you’ve been eyeing one, today is the day to go ahead. The company is bringing only the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro to the US shores, and is keeping the OnePlus 9R limited to the Indian market. If you’ve been looking to get your hands on the latest OnePlus offerings, we’ve rounded up the best OnePlus 9 deals and where you can score them:

But first, a little something about the carrier and 5G situation

However, things are not as simple this time, especially when it comes to carrier availability and 5G support. So, let’s discuss the carrier conundrum first. Right now, T-Mobile is the only carrier that will let you take advantage of 5G on the OnePlus 9 and its Pro model. You can use it on Verizon and AT&T as well, but you’ll be limited to 4G on them.

The 5G tax situation is little too obvious right now

Now, 5G is a key part of the whole package, and if you buy either OnePlus 9 series phone and can’t use 5G on your carrier, you’re just paying the 5G tax. OnePlus tells us that it is in talks with Verizon to sort out the 5G compatibility. As for AT&T, the chances of OnePlus 9 series phones running on its 5G network is next to nil, at least for now.

OnePlus Store

The OnePlus store is currently the best place to buy a OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro is from the official store. However, the color options on the table might be a tad limited. The OnePlus store currently doesn’t list the Stellar Black version of the OnePlus 9 Pro. On a similar note, the Arctic Sky trim of OnePlus 9 is also missing from the OnePlus website.

    OnePlus 9
The OnePlus 9 is priced at $729 for the 8GB + 128GB model on the OnePlus website. You can choose a financing option as well with a duration of up to 24-months with 0% APR. And if you shell out during the pre-order period, you will get OnePlus Buds Z wireless earbuds in White color as a freebie. You can also check out the trade-in options and purchase a Servify plan from the same page.
      OnePlus 9 Pro
For the OnePlus 9 Pro, you need to shell out $1,069 for the 12GB + 256GB model, because that’s the only memory configuration currently listed on the official e-store. However, if you want to save a thousand dollar shock to your wallet, you can go with a financing plan with 0% APR and a maximum duration of 24 months. As a pre-order freebie, you’ll get the OnePlus Buds Z × Steven Harrington Edition wireless earbuds with your OnePlus earbuds.

      Best Buy

      OnePlus 9 Pro

The color options available on B&H Photo Video for the OnePlus 9 are a tad different compared to other sellers. You can get the 128GB storage model in Astral Black and Winter Mist colors, but not Pine Green. OnePlus 9
Right now, the only carrier selling OnePlus 9 in the US - without any compromises - is T-Mobile. The magenta brand currently has the Astral Black and Winter Mist color options on the table, but only the 128GB model. You can either choose to pay the full $729.99 price in one go, or opt for the $30.42 plan with 0% APR.
                  OnePlus 9 Pro
If you’ve been a T-Mobile customer, you can upgrade to the OnePlus 9 Pro without having to go through the trouble of changing lines or missing out on 5G speeds. However, T-Mobile currently only has the 256GB storage version of the phone up for grabs, and that too, only in the Morning Mist color. You can choose to pay the $1069 asking price in full, or go with the financing option that will cost you $44.50 per month.

OnePlus 9 is out now. And from what the company is asking for the hardware on the table, it looks like one impressive budget flagship. Fresh design, massive improvements in the camera department, faster chipset, and support for wireless charging – all these make it quite a compelling option. However, the Galaxy S21 – following its first price cut – falls in almost the same territory as the OnePlus 9. So, how do these two phones stack up? And more importantly, which one should you buy? OnePlus 9 title

Both the OnePlus and Samsung phones rock a brand new design, and employ a polycarbonate build. However, the Galaxy S21 opts for a matte finish that mimics the texture of frosted glass, while the OnePlus 9 goes with the glossy side of aesthetics. Coming to the Galaxy S21+, this one will offer you a more premium glass-and-metal build.

Neither phone offers a 3.5mm headphone jack, but the OnePlus offering retains the signature alert slider that I’ve grown to love. Both the phones rely on an in-display fingerprint sensor, and thankfully, have a flat panel.

POCKETNOW ADVISORY: Whichever device you end up picking among the OnePlus 9 and Galaxy S21, we strongly advise putting a case on it, unless you like scratches ruining the look of your phone or costing you hundreds of dollars for a screen replacement. To save you the hassle, we’ve rounded up this great list of the best Galaxy S21 cases and Galaxy S21 Plus cases, and will soon share a similar one for the OnePlus 9 too.

The hole-punch cutout is a shared design trait here, but the OnePlus 9 has it positioned in the top-left corner, while the Galaxy S21 goes for the centered approach in accordance with Samsung’s Infinity-O design language. Coming to the color options, the OnePlus device is up for grabs in a trio of shades – Winter Mist, Arctic Sky, and Astral Black. As for the Samsung device, you can choose between four shades – Phantom Violet, Phantom Black, Phantom Silver, and Phantom Pink.

                                  Display

There is not much of a difference here. Both the phones offer an FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) display with a 120Hz refresh rate that is HDR10+ certified as well. The only difference is in the size. OnePlus 9 comes equipped with a 6.55-inch panel, while the Galaxy S21 employs a slightly smaller 6.2-inch display.

                                  oneplus 9 front

However, if you prefer the color profile of Samsung’s AMOLED panels, but want a slightly bigger display, the 6.7-inch screen on the Galaxy S21+ will suit you well. The rest of the display attributes remain the same as the vanilla Galaxy S21.

                                  Internals

Again, not much to differentiate here in terms of brute power. All three phones rely on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC ticking alongside 8 gigs of LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256 GB of onboard storage without any scope for expansion. However, the OnePlus 9 does come in a 12GB RAM model as well. Samsung Galaxy S21 and its Plus-sized sibling, on the other hand, rock the Exynos 2100 SoC in some markets.

galaxy s21 shot from below rear panel pocketnow

Coming to the battery and charging department though, OnePlus 9 takes a clear lead here. The OnePlus device has been equipped with a bigger 4,500mAh battery that supports blazing-fast 65W wired fast charging. Plus, you also get 15W wireless charging facility as well. Turning over to the Galaxy S21, there is a 4,000mAh battery under the hood (4,800mAh inside the Galaxy S21+), but the charging speed is much slower at 25W peak wattage. Thankfully, you get support for wireless and reverse wireless charging on this one too.

                                  Cameras

The two phones rock a triple rear camera system, but the approach they take to sensor and lens selection is quite different. For example, the OnePlus 9 doesn’t offer a telephoto camera and goes for a monochrome lens, while the Galaxy S21 and S21+ stick with the tried-and-tested wide + ultra-wide + telephoto formula.

                                  oneplus 9 black

On the OnePlus 9, you’ll find a 48MP (Sony IMX789 sensor), assisted by a massive 50MP (Sony IMX766) sensor and a 2MP monochrome camera. Due to the lack of a telephoto camera, you don’t get perks such as lossless zoom, but on the bright side, the ultra-wide camera on this one doubles as a macro snapper by going as close as 4cm to a subject. On the front, you’ll find a 16MP selfie shooter. The phone can capture 8K videos at 30FPS and 4K clips at up to 60FPS.

Coming to the Galaxy S21 duo, you get an optically stabilized 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide shooter, and a powerful 64MP telephoto camera that delivers 3x hybrid zoom and 30x digital zoom output. For selfie and video calling duties, there is a 10MP camera on the front. Talking about camera capabilities, you get support for 8K video capture at 24fps and 4K at up to 60fps.

                                  Best Galaxy S21 Plus

But when it comes to slo-mo video capture, the Samsung flagship takes the crown. OnePlus 9 maxes out at 480p slo-mo clips at 720p resolution, while the Samsung Galaxy S21 goes all the way up to 960fps. Following is a list comparing the camera tricks each phone offers:

                                  OnePlus 9 Samsung Galaxy S21 / S21+
Nightscape, Super Macro, UltraShot HDR, Smart Scene Recognition, Portrait mode, Pro mode, Panorama, Tilt-shift mode, Focus Peaking, Cat/Dog Face Focus, Raw file, Filters, Super Stable, Video Nightscape, Video HDR, Video Portrait, Focus Tracking, Timelapse, and Hyperlapse Scene Optimizer, Single Take, Panorama, Night mode, Portrait Video, Pro Video, Hyperlapse, Director’s View, Super Steady, Motion photo, Format and advanced options (HEIF/Raw copies/UW shape correction) Selfie color tone, Advanced recording options (HEVC/HDR10+/Zoom-in MIC), Auto HDR, Tracking auto-focus, AR Doodle, Quick Measure

Heading into the connectivity department, you get 5G, Wi-Fi 6, and NFC support on all three devices. However, the OnePlus 9 goes for the more recent Bluetooth v5.2 standard, while the Galaxy S21 / S21+ is stuck on Bluetooth v5.0. For multimedia consumption, you get Dolby Atmos-ready stereo speakers on all three phones.

                                  Pricing

                                  oneplus 9 blue

Now, let’s talk about the most crucial part – the pricing. The OnePlus 9 will set you back by $729 for the base variant, while the Galaxy S21 starts at $699. The Galaxy S21+, on the other hand, carries a price tag of $799 for the base configuration. All three phones are neck and neck when it comes to raw performance, and have a display with almost identical traits. At the end of the day, it would boil down between the design and the software experience – whether you prefer Samsung’s One UI 3.1 or OnePlus’ well-regarded OxygenOS 11 skin, both of which are based on Android 11.

However, the OnePlus 9 races ahead with its blazing-fast 65W wired fast charging support, and a slightly bigger 4,500mAh battery. Additionally, it has a significantly more powerful 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera that also pulls the duty of a macro snapper. On the flip side, the 2MP macro snapper does not offer much in terms of practical usage. The Galaxy S21 and S21+ duo, on the other hand, offers a more versatile camera setup that includes a powerful 64MP telephoto camera that delivers 3x hybrid optic and 30x digital zoom.

                                  Galaxy S21 inhand pocketnow

So ultimately, you’ll have to make the decision based on the camera hardware versatility, how important fast charging is to you, and the preference of Android skin. On the update front though, you can rest assured of at least two major Android version upgrades on the OnePlus 9 as well as Samsung Galaxy S21.

                                  Design and Display

The OnePlus 9 comes equipped with a 6.55-inch AMOLED display that has a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels at 402 PPI and supports for 120Hz refresh rate. The 20:9 aspect ratio display also supports sRGB and Display P3. This device weighs 192 grams (in the US and Europe), while the Indian variant weighs 183 grams (likely because it misses out on wireless charging). It comes in three color options of Winter Mist, Arctic Sky, and Astral Black. The back is also made up of 3D Corning Gorilla Glass.

The OnePlus 8T rocks a glass front and back that is baked into an aluminum frame on the sides. It isn’t bulky as it weighs 188 grams, and fits well in the hand. The smartphone creatures a 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED display with Full-HD+ resolution. It features the same refresh rate as the OnePlus 9 – 120Hz.  The display is HDR10+ certified as well. It is a sharp and vibrant screen.

                                  OnePlus 9 cameras

                                  Hardware and Battery

Under the hood lies the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC on the OnePlus 9. It is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. You get an in-display fingerprint scanner similar to the OnePlus 8T. The smartphone packs a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging tech (Warp Charge 65T). It also supports 15W Qi wireless charging in North America and Europe. Plus, you get dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos like the 8T.

The OnePlus 8T is powered by Snapdragon 865 SoC, which is the same as the OnePlus 8 Pro and the OnePlus 8. It ticks alongside 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage onboard. In my usage, I’ve never experienced a lag or stutter in the UI or while opening and closing an app. Furthermore, packs the same 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging and it charges the battery up to 15% in 17 minutes, and up to 85% within 28 minutes. It charges to 100% within 40 minutes.

                                  OnePlus 8T

                                  Cameras

The OnePlus 9 sports a triple rear camera setup. The 48MP primary sensor is a Sony IMX689 that has an aperture of f/1.8 and comes with a 7P lens. Then there is a 50MP Sony IMX766 ultra-wide-angle 7P lens that has an f/2.2 aperture. Plus, you get a 2MP monochrome sensor. On the front lies a Sony IMX471 sensor with 16MP resolution. As for videos, you get support for 8K videos at 30fps, while 4K can be shot in 30/60fps. It also lets you shoot super slow motion in 720p at 480fps.

On the other hand, the OnePlus 8T sports a quad rear camera setup. There is a 48MP Sony IMX586 optically stabilized sensor. It’s the same sensor used in the OnePlus 7 series as well as the OnePlus Nord. It is accompanied by a 16MP ultra-wide-angle shooter that has a 123-degree field of view, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP monochrome sensor. You get a 16MP selfie shooter. In bright daylight, the OnePlus 8T captures detailed images with HDR implemented very well. Switching to the ultra-wide camera, the details are less but not drastically different.

OnePlus 9 vs OnePlus 8T: Price

The OnePlus 9 is priced at USD 729 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model, whereas the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant will cost you USD 829. As for the OnePlus 8T, it is selling at USD 600 in the US.

OnePlus 9 offers flagship muscle and wireless charging support for $729

It's only fair to share...Share on RedditShare on FacebookShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Tumblr

We can finally put a lid on the steaming kettle of leaks. The OnePlus 9 has finally been launched officially. Right off the bat, there are a few meaningful upgrades that potential buyers will appreciate. First, the OnePlus 9 adds support for wireless charging, but major improvements happen in the camera department though. OnePlus 9 uses the new 48MP Sony IMX789 sensor with some color tuning magic done in collaboration with Hasselblad. The wide-angle camera is now a 50MP monster – identical to the one inside the OnePlus 9 Pro. And oh, the design is fresh, with some eye-pleasing color options.

You get a 120Hz AMOLED panel, but no adaptive refresh rate trick akin to the Pro model

Now, let’s break down what’s inside. Over at the front, OnePlus 9 offers a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel is flat, and there is a circular hole-punch drilled in the top-left corner of the screen to house the 16MP selfie camera. The resolution is FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels), which translates to a pixel density of 402PPI.

                                  oneplus 9 blue

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 SoC keeps things running under the hood. You get a choice between two memory configurations – 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. And just in case you were wondering, OnePlus employs the faster LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 memory standards. On the software side, you’ll get to experience OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11, while authentication duties are handled by an in-display fingerprint sensor.

A 48MP camera that can record 8K videos and supports 12-bit RAW capture

Now, let’s talk about the camera department. Compared to the OnePlus 8T’s quad lens setup, OnePlus 9 only has three rear cameras, getting rid of the macro camera on its predecessor. The sensors though, have received a major upgrade. The main 48MP camera employs the new Sony IMX689 sensor that is now capable of 8K video capture at 30FPS frame rate. Also, it supports 12-bit RAW capture, which means you’ll see more colors in your images and a higher dynamic range in videos.

                                  oneplus 9 black

It sits alongside the 50MP ultrawide camera that uses the same Sony IMX766 sensor as the pricier OnePlus 9 Pro. This one employs a freeform lens that is claimed to reduce the distortion in wide-angle shots to an impressive 1%. And even though the macro camera is gone, OnePlus says you can use ultra-wide snapper for macro photography by getting as close as 4cm to the subject.

The 50MP ultra-wide camera uses freeform lens to reduce distortion down to 1%

Now, OnePlus has done something curious in the battery department though. OnePlus 9 comes equipped with a 4,500mAh dual-cell battery. It supports 65W charging, and yes, the 65W charger comes bundled with the retail package. The key upgrade here is support for 15W wireless charging. Interestingly, only the variant sold in Europe and North America comes equipped with a wireless charging coil, while buyers in other markets – including India and China – will miss out on the convenience of wireless charging.

                                  oneplus 9 front

Now, let’s talk about the pricing part. The 8GB + 128GB model of OnePlus 9 is priced at $729. The higher-end 12GB + 256GB model, on the other hand, will set you back by $829. Pre-orders kicks off on March 26, and it will go on sale starting April 2 from the official OnePlus online store, and subsequently via authorized retail outlets and carrier partners.

Pre-orders kicks off on March 26, and it will go on sale starting April 2

You get to choose between three color options – Winter Mist, Arctic Sky and Astral Black. The rear panel is covered by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass, but the surrounding frame is not metallic. Instead, OnePlus used what it calls a fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame to keep the weight low.

While the smartphone lineup is just a few hours away from going official, the leaks won’t stop coming in. The latest one reveals the pricing details of the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro.

OnePlus ditches HydrogenOS for Oppo’s ColorOS in China

Ahead of the OnePlus 9 series launch, OnePlus has shared some developments regarding its OS choice in its home country, China. The company has revealed that the upcoming OnePlus smartphones will run a customised version of OPPO’s ColorOS in China. The information comes after there were several rumors regarding OnePlus ditching its own OS for that of OPPO’s ColorOS.

The latest development comes from OnePlus forums where the OxygenOS Product Lead shared the news of OnePlus going with the ColorOS in China. Addressing the rumors, the company official wrote, “Today I would like to update you on a new development for our Chinese users and that you may have heard discussion about in the last few days: after listening to their feedback and voices, our China market devices will now be using a customized version of ColorOS.”

This version of ColorOS will be tailored “specifically for OnePlus smartphones,” and it will be starting with the upcoming OnePlus 9 series. As of now, OnePlus smartphones run HydrogenOS in China. The rumors about OnePlus phones running ColorOS came when OPPO started selling OnePlus devices on its website in the home country.

However, outside of China, users will get OxygenOS. “For all of our users outside of mainland China, we will continue using OxygenOS for global devices in the future and remain committed to offering a fast and smooth experience with OxygenOS,” says the forum post.

Up until now, ColorOS was found on OPPO and Realme devices. The latter terms it as Realme UI. Further, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau took to Weibo to mention that previous devices running HydrogenOS will continue to get support, while the OnePlus 9 series will have ColorOS pre-installed from the factory.

Lately, OnePlus has been lagging behind in terms of software support. While the next smartphone lineup is just around the corner, the OnePlus 7 and 7T series is yet to get the Android 11 update. This development should help the cause – at least in China.

OnePlus 9 Pro confirmed to support an insane 50W wireless charging

Call it spoiling the surprise oneself, or taking the spotlight away from leaks, OnePlus keeps revealing new details about its upcoming smartphones. After dropping some juicy details about the camera hardware and even revealing the OnePlus 9 Pro in all its glory, the company has now confirmed another impressive feature – support for an insane 50W wireless charging. Or in the company’s own lingo – Warp Charge 50 Wireless.

OnePlus claims that its proprietary wireless charging technology will fully juice up the battery in 43 minutes. In case you’re wondering about battery capacity, the OnePlus 9 Pro will reportedly come equipped with a 4,500mAh battery. OnePlus is again going with a dual-cell design, which each half receiving 25W of power while charging wirelessly. Moreover, the company claims to have improved the heating situation so that things don’t get all toasty while wireless charging.

And just in case you’re wondering about wired charging speed, OnePlus 9 and its Pro variant will both support 65W charging, thanks to the Warp Charge 65T technology. While that’s not essentially an upgrade over the OnePlus 8T, OnePlus says that charging speed is actually faster on its upcoming phones, with the company claiming that both phones will get their tanks full in just 29 minutes.

A new wireless charger with a removable cable

Additionally, OnePlus is also going to launch a new wireless charger to deliver 50W of power. And with it, the company is planning to solve two major issues – the orientation in which the phone can be used, and a removable cable. The new charger has two coils, one at the top and the other one at the bottom.

                                  oneplus fast charging

What this means is you can put the OnePlus 9 Pro on the charger either vertically, or even horizontally if you’re watching video on it while charging. Additionally, the cable is no longer permanently fixed at the back. You can just plug in the supplied signature red USB-C cable or any third-party cable that supports USB-PD charging to get the full 50W wattage.

Samsung gaming monitors, Razer and HyperX are also on sale today

New week, but the news today still begin with deals. Starting with Cupertino’s iPhone XS which, like I don’t know how it’s still sold but it is, and you can find for 350 on Woot but of course, this is a refurbished variant.. Though better than grabbing an iPhone SE for a higher price. If you move on to B&H, the Galaxy Note 10 Plus is available for 480 dollars off its original price, leaving the 256 gigs of storage variant for 620 bucks . Speaking of Samsung devices, Samsung’s trade-in deals still let you get the regular Galaxy S21 for 99 dollars or the S21 Ultra for 499 and you get 100 dollars in instant credit with certain variants. Moving on to Amazon, the Apple Watch Series 6 is 25 dollars off for the 40 mm variant, leaving that at 374. Finally, Amazon’s new Echo Dot is also 15 dollars off, leaving it at 35 dollars shipped. We have a ton of more deals on Sony TVs, Hisense TVs, Razer Gaming peripherals and more.

Microsoft Surface Duo 2 is reportedly coming in second half of 2021 with major upgrades

Let’s move on to Microsoft and everyone’s favorite product of 2020, the Surface Duo. We know the story about how the first model was delayed multiple time and was then released to a ton of bugs in the software and old hardware. Well, according to a new report from Windows Latest, the Surface Duo 2 has apparently been in development since the second half of last year, and is scheduled to launch in the fall of this year though, Microsoft’s plans could change. When it comes to the hardware, we should expect a faster processor that is 5G capable and an improved camera but, apparently software seems to be the primary focus of the Duo 2. And I mean, it makes a ton of sense considering all the bugs it came with… but aside from the software, I’m more curious about the camera. We should be getting more information on this phone in the upcoming months and I mean, I hope they nail it this time.

Google cuts Play Store commission fee to 15% for most developers

Now, let’s shift the spotlight on to Google as, they just pulled an Apple.. Quite literally. The company announced today that they are cutting their Play Store Commission fee from 30% to 15% but, there is a catch. The fee is being reduced to 15% for the first 1 million dollars of revenue every developer earns each year, and once you reach the 1 million, you will be charged the usual 30% commission every one is currently charged. For those of you who are developers in the audience, this reduced commission will come into effect starting on July 1st this year, and they claim that 99% of the developers will benefit from this move. This will allow them to see a 50% reduction in fees, allowing them to scale up and grow by being able to hire more engineers and other people, which is kind of an irony if they start making some real money. What’s weird about it is that Google doubled down in their 30% stance last year after Apple launched their small business program but, it’s a move that benefits everyone regardless. I guess developers can thank Epic Games for this one too.

OnePlus 9 Pro might support 50W wireless charging. Hello, Apple and Samsung!

Why wait for launch? Here’s your official look at OnePlus 9 Pro

1Hz-120Hz! Yep, that’s what OnePlus 9 Pro’s display will offer

But alright, we’re getting closer to March 23rd which is OnePlus 9 Series Day and, when we said we should be getting more leaks soon.. I didn’t think the company would be the ones doing the leaking. Yesterday the company just flat out revealed the designed of the OnePlus 9 Pro on Twitter, where they say “Specially designed reflective glass elevates the Morning Mist 9 Pro to new levels of design excellence. On the pictures you get to see the new camera module, the punch hole display and well.. That’s it. Nothing left for the imagination here. Speaking of the display and sort of confirmed things, a new report from PC Mag claims that the 9 Pro will support adaptive refresh rate that will go as low as 1Hz and as high as 120Hz of course. What this means is that while you scroll it’ll go at 120Hz but, if you’re watching a video at 30fps, the screen will change the refresh rate to 30Hz. Finally, moving on to a new leak from Pricebaba, the OnePlus 9 Pro will bring 50W wireless charging and 65W wired charging to power up that 4500 mAh battery. Most of the leaks so far are about the 9 Pro and the 9 so, we’ll see what the company decides to bring with that 9R variant which has been kept under wraps, at least more than the other variants.

                                  Story of the day:

Apple AirPods 3 not coming anytime soon: Report

Finally, for the hottest news today, let’s talk Apple and AirPods. So, we’re exactly a week away from the rumored Apple event announcement, and well, still no invites. Apple has historically sent these a week early, so things start getting weird, but wait, there’s more. According to a ton of leaks from trusted sources, on that we’re supposed to get products like AirTags, iPads and, AirPods…., I mean, last week we got a ton of pictures of those AirPods including renders and even hands on images which made it look like they were ready to go. Well hold it right there. Yesterday we got a new report from Ming Chi Kuo that claims that mass production for the AirPods Pro will start until the third quarter of 2021, meaning that they will probably launch until Q4. We also have a new Weibo post from Love To Dream where he claims in his cryptic fashion that “there are no AirPods in his dream”. Shortly after he also mentioned in a tweet that the second gen AirPods will not be discontinued yet, kind of going along with what Ming Chi Kuo said. So yeah, even with all of the IRL leaks and everything we’re not exactly sure if Apple will be launching these on this March 23 Event, which we’re also not even sure if it’ll happen on that date as we should’ve gotten that invite at 9am today.

Why wait for launch? Here’s your official look at OnePlus 9 Pro

What’s the best way to curb leaks? Show it all officially before the launch event. At least that’s what OnePlus thinks is the right strategy. Merely days after the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro appeared in high-resolution renders, the company has apparently decided that it has had enough with the leaks. And that’s likely why the company has shared the official marketing images of the OnePlus 9 Pro in its Morning Mist color.

Yes, we get a clear look at the upcoming OnePlus flagship from both sides. And I’m not going to mince words here – it looks pretty sweet. The back appears to have a glossy finish with an understated gradient texture that goes from a light shade of grey to an almost silvery finish towards the top. The USB Type-C port and speaker grill at the bottom, while the familiar alert slider is on the left side. The screen – like it or not – is curved, with a hole punch in the top left corner.

OnePlus 9 Pro Morning Mist 4

Now, not much is secret about the OnePlus 9 Pro. The company itself has revealed the presence of a 50MP ultra-wide angle camera for the device backed by the new Sony IMX766 sensor. Yeah, it’s the same sensor that we also saw on the OPPO Find X3 Pro. WINK, WINK! It will be accompanied by the 48MP Sony IMX789 custom sensor that will be capable of 4K video capture at an impressive 120FPS frame rate.

OnePlus 9 Pro Morning Mist 2

OnePlus has partnered with Hasselblad to achieve what it calls Natural Color Calibration. The hype – and skepticism – around the partnership is high, and it remains to be seen whether OnePlus can improve on the one area that has long been the chink in the armor for its flagship killers.

OnePlus 9 Pro Morning Mist 1

As for the rest of the internals, the Snapdragon 888 SoC will drive the device, reportedly paired with around 12 gigs of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. Leaks have predicted a 4,500mAh battery inside the phone, and if the OnePlus 8T is anything to go by, we are getting support for 65W wired fast charing as well.

OnePlus 9 series is all set to be unveiled on March 23. Ahead of the launch, we know almost everything about the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. Last week, Winfuture.de shared the leaked renders of the smartphones, which also gave us a look at the upcoming colorways. Now, tipster Ishan Agarwal has shared more OnePlus 9 series renders that also reiterate the color variants of the previous leak.

Agarwal took to Twitter to post the OnePlus 9 series renders. The OnePlus 9 can be seen in three colors – Stellar Black, Arctic Sky, and Winter Mist. On the other hand, the OnePlus 9 Pro renders reveal the phone in Astral Black, Morning Mist, and Pine Green color options. While the vanilla variant appears to feature a flat display, OnePlus seems to be sticking with a curved panel on the Pro model. However, the company could switch to a plastic frame for the OnePlus 9.

The OnePlus 9 is rumored to come equipped with a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED display that is said to offer a 120Hz refresh rate. In contrast, the OnePlus 9 Pro might feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED QHD+ display with the same high refresh rate. Both devices could be made available with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. They are very likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC.

The OnePlus 9 might sport two 48MP sensors. One of them is said to output 12MP images, whereas the other could be an ultra-wide-angle lens. There could be another camera in the form of a telephoto lens. As for the OnePlus 9 Pro, it could sport a quad rear camera setup led by a 48MP Sony IMX789 camera and accompanied by a 50MP Sony IMX766 ultra-wide-angle lens + an 8MP telephoto camera and a 2MP depth sensor. Both the smartphones will have cameras tuned by Hasselblad. The upcoming OnePlus 9 series will include a Hasselblad Pro Mode that will bring Hasselblad’s sensor calibration to a smartphone for the first time.

Both devices are rumored to pack a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging on the Pro, and 30W on the OnePlus 9.

If you go for the 16-inch Intel model, for some whatever reason, that one is 200 dollars off if you go for 16GBs of RAM and 512GB of storage, leaving it at 2199. The Google Pixel 3a is 146 dollars off, leaving it at 333 dollars shipped. The Sony Xperia 1 Mark 2 which I know a lot of you love is 101 dollars off, leaving it at 1098, still pretty expensive. Finally, Samsung’s eternal trade-in deals are still available, meaning if you want to grab the Galaxy S21 Ultra, it is still available for 499 with 100 dollars in instant credit if you have an eligible device. Apple lowering iPhone 12 Mini production due to ‘far lower’ demand than expected

Let’s switch to reports and rumors before we take it back to the hottest news and, this time it’s about iPhones. Earlier this year we had a report from DigiTimes claiming that Apple would scale back iPhone 13 mini production due to low demand. Well, according to a new Nikkei Asia report, iPhone 12 mini sales have been far lower than Apple initially expected prompting the company to cut down orders for the mini from their original plan for the first half of the year.. Pretty much confirmation to what we heard earlier. The report mentions that some suppliers were even asked to stop building components that were specifically for the mini. Apparently Cupertino will cut planned production by more than 70% at least for the time being. That being said, Apple reportedly plans to cut production of all models by 20% so, the mini is taking a 50% cutback which is still huge. Many analysts claim that the low sales are because the iPhone 11 and 12 have similar prices and offer larger displays and batteries for a almost the same price. Let’s see what ends up happening with the 2021 line up if the mini doesn’t pick up over the rest of the year.

ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate has more RAM than my gaming PC

But alright, let’s get back to official news as, we just got the ROG Phone 5 Series and well it sounds great, but I’m not sure about the looks. well it sounds Michael Fisher showed me his Ultimate unit yesterday and while he loves it, struggling with not assuming it’s a white phone with a broken back. The company took to the virtual stage to introduce 3 new gaming smartphones, the ROG Phone 5, 5 Pro and the 5 Ultimate. Of course we’ll be focusing on the Ultimate here which brings a 6.78-inch AMOLED Display running at 144 Hz with 300 Hz touch sampling. It is powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC, along with 18 gigs RAM, I know… 18 GIGS OF RAM, half a terabyte of non expandable storage that allows support for external hard drives through NTFS, and a massive 6000 mAh battery. I mean those numbers almost sound illegal in certain countries.. Meaning damn Asus is NOT playing around. When it comes to the cameras, you get a 64 megapixel main sensor from Sony, a 13 megapixel ultra wide and ugh, I don’t even know why they bother with the 5 megapixel Macro. The phone still comes with the Air Triggers at the top with the higher-end models bringing other extra buttons as well and you can still buy the gaming pad separately. The base model for the ROG Phone 5 starts at 800 Euros, the Rog Phone 5 Pro goes for 1200 Euros, while the Ultimate will cost you 1300 Euros. If you’re interested in availability and other details, make sure you check out the links in the description.

Apple AirPods 3 alleged first look is here

Apple AirPods 3 appear in alleged real-life images. Take a look!

Let’s move the spotlight back on to Apple but, not for the products you would expect, let’s talk AirPods. We’ve been waiting on the third generation AirPods for quite some time and rumors hint that we could get them at Apple’s upcoming March Event. Now we have a new report from Gizmochina that shows some renders of the AirPods 3 which were apparently based on images from suppliers. From the renders you can notice the shorter stem and the vents at the top, showing a ton of resemblance to the current AirPods Pro, but without the silicone tips. The case is also shrinking down a bit and getting wider. We also have some IRL images of these headphones from a tipster on Twitter that, doesn’t have the greatest track record, but these look like the real deal. So yeah, these are pretty much turning into AirPods Pro when it comes to design but lacking the actual Pro features like Active Noise Cancelling. Again, we’re expecting these at the March Event which is reportedly 13 days away so, we’ll keep you posted if we get more leaks.

                                  Story of the day:

OnePlus confirms a 50MP ultra-wide camera for its upcoming flagship

Pete Lau teases OnePlus 9 Pro’s UW camera capabilities

And finally, for the hottest news today let’s talk OnePlus as, they have managed to take up a great amount of the spotlight today, which makes sense as we get close to the OnePlus 9 Event. Pete Lau has been on a sort of Ming Chi Kuo type of run these past couple of days, with the exception that what he says aren’t predictions. First he revealed that we will be getting a charger, and now he confirmed that we will be getting a 50 megapixel ultra wide camera for the 9 Pro with a Sony IMX766 Sensor. He also showed some sample images where, apparently they took 2 ultra wide images and you can definitely see that there is way less distortion on the 9 Pro, but of course, we’ll have to test that to see how accurate it is. Now, speaking of that camera, MKBHD posted a picture of the new “Pro” UI that reportedly comes thanks to the Hasselblad partnership that the company has been teasing. From this picture we can see how the Pro mode let’s you control Shutter Speed, ISO, Focus and more. So, we’re currently expecting three phones from OnePlus, the 9R, the 9 and the 9 Pro. The 9 Pro will reportedly pack a 6.78-inch display, running at 120Hz, Snapdragon 888 5G, 8 or 12 gigs of RAM and your typical amount of storage. From all these teasers and leaks they’re focusing a lot on the camera, where we should expect a 48 megapixel main sensor, that 50 megapixel ultra wide, and then two other cameras that are still pending to be leaked.

OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro color options shown off in leaked official renders

Well, it looks like the floodgates of OnePlus 9 series leaks have finally opened ahead of its official debut on March 23. After details of the upcoming phones’ internal hardware surfaced online and a few camera details were officially confirmed as well, we now have high-resolution renders of the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, showing off the color options that will be up for grabs.

The latest leak, which comes from WinFuture, shows the OnePlus 9 Pro in three colors – black, silver, and green. Interestingly, the black trim appears to have a sandstone-like finish on the rear panel, although it could also turn out to be frosted glass at the end of the day, since possibilities of a metallic rear panel are slim as it would impede wireless charging. The remaining colors have a glossy surface finish.

OnePlus 9 series rumors: from speculations to confirmed specs, here’s all we know so far

Looks like the classic sandstone finish is returning, or at some semblance of it

There are four cameras at the back, sitting alongside the LED flash and what appears to be the laser autofocus module. OnePlus has already confirmed that the main 48MP camera uses the Sony IMX789 sensor, while the 50MP ultra-wide-angle shooter relies on the Sony IMX766 sensor.

Coming to the standard OnePlus 9, it appears in blue, purple and black colors, all three of which appear to rock a glossy finish. There are three cameras at back, and no laser autofocus module is to be found on this one. OnePlus 9 Pro is shown flaunting a curved display with a hole-punch drilled in the top right corner and slim bezels on all sides. It will reportedly employ an LTPO panel that will bring the adaptive refresh rate feature to the table, allowing the phone to automatically adjust the display refresh rate based on the on-screen content to save some battery juice.

The vanilla OnePlus 9 is going for a flat panel, but with the same approach for housing the selfie camera as its Pro sibling. As per leaks, both the phones will rely on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, and an identical 4,500mAh battery as well. Additionally, the two phones are rumored to support 65W fast charging, and wireless charging is also certain – at least for the Pro model.

OnePlus 9 series rumors: from speculations to confirmed specs, here’s all we know so far

OnePlus 9 series is just around the corner. The company will be launching it earlier than usual. OnePlus has so far launched its first flagship of the year in April or later. This time around, the company is bringing its OnePlus 9 series on March 23 at an online event. OnePlus is also tipped to launch its first smartwatch alongside smartphones. Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming devices ahead of the launch.

Not two, but three OnePlus 9 models

OnePlus usually unveils two models in its non-T series in the first half of the year. However, it is tipped to launch three models in the OnePlus 9 series. The company could launch the OnePlus 9R / 9E, OnePlus 9, and the OnePlus 9 Pro. While the latter two will sport a flagship chipset, the ‘R’ variant could be a more affordable bet.

                                  OnePlus 9R / OnePlus 9E

The OnePlus 9R / 9E is tipped to be powered by a Snapdragon 600-series SoC. It could have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 chipset delivering its power needs. The smartphone could be made available with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Other specifications of the device remain unknown.

OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro

Both the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro are likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC, which is the flagship chipset from Qualcomm. The former could come equipped with a 6.55-inch Full HD+ display, while the OnePlus 9 Pro could feature a 6.78-inch size with a QHD resolution. The duo is tipped to include a 120Hz refresh rate.

The OnePlus 9 might sport two 48MP sensors. One of them is said to output 12MP images, whereas the other could be an ultra-wide-angle lens. The third camera is unknown. As for the OnePlus 9 Pro, it could have four rear snappers. The phones are likely to come with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Both devices are rumored to pack a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging on the Pro, and 30W on the OnePlus 9.

                                  Enters Hasselblad

OnePlus has entered a three-year partnership with Hasselblad. It has announced that the two companies will work together to deliver “vastly improved camera systems” on future OnePlus smartphones – starting with the OnePlus 9 series. OnePlus says it plans software improvements including color tuning and sensor calibration.

Hasselblad will help OnePlus in advanced color calibration. The new color solution, Natural Color Calibration with Hasselblad will be more accurate and natural-looking colors to photos taken with OnePlus flagship cameras.

The upcoming OnePlus 9 series will include a Hasselblad Pro Mode that will bring Hasselblad’s sensor calibration to a smartphone for the first time. It is said to result in accurate and natural colors for better post-editing. The new mode will allow you to adjust ISO, focus, exposure times, white balance, and more. Users will also be able to use a 12-bit RAW format for even richer colors and higher dynamic range.

The OnePlus-Hasselblad partnership of USD 150 million will span over three years and it will help OnePlus develop new areas of smartphone imaging technology. These include a panoramic camera with a 140-degree field of view, T-lens technology for lightning-fast focus in the front-facing camera. The OnePlus 9 series will include a feature called ‘freeform lens’, which will practically eliminate edge distortion in ultra-wide photos.

The best camera on a OnePlus ever?

OnePlus has announced that its next flagship series will sport a custom Sony IMX789 sensor. This sensor will support 12-bit RAW, and it is said to be up to 64-times more colorful than before. It is said to deliver more dynamic and vibrant colors in pictures. OnePlus says it will allow professional photographers more room for additional post-editing. Further, the Hasselblad Camera for Mobile will also offer improved HDR video recording, as well as support for capturing 4K 120FPS and 8K 30FPS video.

                                  Wide range of colors

As per a report, the OnePlus 9 series will be made available in a wide range of colors. The regular OnePlus 9 could be offered in three color options of Astral Black, Arctic Sky, Winter Mist, while the T-Mobile variant might come in two colors – Astral Black, Winter Mist. On the other hand, the Verizon variant could be made available in Gloss Black, Gloss Gradient Purple color options.

In contrast, the OnePlus 9 Pro’s regular variant might sell in three color options of Stellar Black, Forest Green, Morning Mist, while the T-Mobile variant could get the Morning Mist color option.
