3 ways iAnnotate can help you go paperless (Video)

A lot of people have always said iPads and other tablets are primarily geared towards entertainment – the consumption of media, no creation. I, on the other hand, have always had a different stance. I’ve always tried do more with mobile devices, to get more out of them, to create content and get actual work done from mobile. It hasn’t always worked out so well for me, particularly when I tried to go tablet-only for a day. However, getting more done with your tablet is entirely possible. One company, ...

Tim Cook, not everyone can work from an iPad

The usefulness and practicality of iPads and other mobile tablets as true productivity tools has provided fuel for many debates. Can an iPad be more than a media consumption device? Can you get real work done with an iPad or Android tablet? Or will iPads and Android-powered tablets forever be relegated to entertainment devices best suited for the couch?Back in March and April, I tried to tackle these seemingly simple questions.Office for ...

Microsoft Office for iPad for $100 per year isn’t all bad

I know, I’ve been writing about tablets as productivity tools a lot this week and last – more than usual. That’s due in part to a video I was scheduled to make late last week – the one about going tablet-only for a day – and it getting replaced with another tablet-centric video about Microsoft’s Office for iPad. After months upon months of rumors of the popular Office suite for iPad, Microsoft finally made it official last Thursday. For free, you’re not going to get a lot from ...

The iPad mini with a Bluetooth keyboard is better than I imagined

Yesterday, I explored the concept of working entirely from a tablet – an iPad mini with Retina display, to be exact. On Thursday last week, I attempted to go tablet-only for the entire day, only to confirm what most already knew. While I could easily do 90 percent of the writing, editing, and publishing I do – including photo editing, spreadsheets, and fact checking – it wasn’t ideal to try to do everything from an iPad. No surprise there. I’ve known this for some time. I’ve tried ...

Microsoft Office for iPad hands-on (Video)

As of yesterday, Microsoft’s insanely popular Office suite software was officially brought to the iPad. Office Mobile has been available for Android smartphones and iPhones for some time now, but tablets were left out of the equation. Microsoft built Office for iPad from the ground up, with touchscreens and the iPad software in mind. All the while, it didn’t deviate too far from the desktop experience we all ...

Don’t write off the ‘productivity tablet’ just yet

Productivity tablet = oxymoron? I’m not so sure about that. There is a place for productivity tablets in this world. I opined several months ago about how I don’t want a tablet until it is a viable laptop replacement. And here I sit typing on a Surface RT. Full disclosure: the Surface RT is a Pocketnow-owned Surface. I did not buy it on my own. Having used it for several weeks now, I probably never will. It’s nice in several ways, which I will expound upon later, but it’s not quite the laptop ...
