Samsung oopsie confirms Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy Xcover 5 are debuting soon

Samsung doesn’t have a particularly stellar record of preventing its upcoming products from getting leaked. But occasionally, the company finds itself doing an oopsie or two. The latest one involves not one, but two yet-to-be-launched devices – the Galaxy A52 5G mid-ranger and the rugged Galaxy Xcover 5 – both of which have been leaked extensively in the past few weeks. The Korean electronics behemoth listed the two aforementioned phones on its official Android security update database.

Interestingly, names of both the devices have now been removed from the database, but screenshots floating on the internet suggest that a mistake was made on Samsung’s part. And to further compound Samsung’s woes, leaks have revealed almost everything about the Galaxy A52 5G, including detailed specs, pricing information, and have given us a clear look at its design as well.

The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G will reportedly arrive rocking a 6.5-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display with an impressive 120Hz refresh rate – a first for a non-flagship Samsung smartphone. Inside, you’ll find the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G serving as the brains, assisted by 6/8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of onboard storage.

In the camera department, you’ll come across four lenses at the back that include a 64MP primary shooter, sitting alongside an 8MP ultra-wide-angle snapper, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. Selfie and video-calling responsibilities on the IP67-certified phone will be shouldered by a 32MP snapper. A 4,500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging will be there to provide the juice.

READ MORE: Samsung’s rugged Galaxy XCover 5 passes by Bluetooth SIG ahead of imminent launch

As for the Galaxy Xcover 5, this upcoming rugged phone will reportedly offer a 5.34-inch display with a lowly HD+ (1600 x 900 pixels) resolution. The make of SoC powering it is unclear, but it will be accompanied by 4 gigs of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. It is rumored to come equipped with a 16MP rear camera, 5MP front snapper, and a rather small 3,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging chops.

Samsung’s rugged Galaxy XCover 5 passes by Bluetooth SIG ahead of imminent launch

Earlier this month, a leak spilled the beans on Samsung’s upcoming rugged phone – the Galaxy XCover 5. Now, the upcoming Samsung offering has been spotted on the Bluetooth SIG database, indicating that the device is inching closer to its official launch. The Bluetooth SIG listing mentions support for Bluetooth v5.0 standard for pairing it with other devices and two model numbers – SM-G525F and SM-G525F_DS – with the latter indicating that it will be sold in a dual-SIM flavor as well.

As per the leak that we mentioned earlier, the Galaxy XCover 5 will come equipped with a small-ish 5.34-inch display with a not-so-eye-pooping HD+ (1600 x 900 pixels) resolution. Being a rugged phone that likely won’t care much about aesthetics, you can expect some thick bezels and raised edges for added protection against accidental drops.

Details about the silicon powering the Galaxy XCover 5 are still under the wraps, but it won’t be a flagship chipset, which is usually reserved for the XCover Pro family. However, the XCover 5 will reportedly come equipped with 4 gigs of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. There will be a USB Type-C port for charging and file transfer. And to provide the juice, it will come fitted with a 3,000mAh battery with support for 15W charging.

And as you might have guessed by now, there won’t be anything fancy in the camera department either. The Galaxy XCover 5 will reportedly feature a single 16-megapixel camera at the back. And to shoulder the selfie and video calling duties, Samsung is said to have fitted its upcoming rugged phone with a 5-megapixel snapper. And oh, it will miss out on 5G support, and there will only be a single color option on the table – black.

The Galaxy XCover 5 is touted to launch at some point in March, as per Nils Ahrensmeier of TechNik News Net. The Galaxy Xcover family is long overdue for a new member, as the last phone in the series was the Galaxy XCover 4 that arrived all the way back in 2017.

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy XCover 5 rugged phone just had its specs leaked

Alright, another day, another Samsung leak. So, the South Korean electronics behemoth has launched multiple rugged phones and tablets in the past under the Galaxy XCover family. The last rugged phone from the portfolio – the Galaxy XCover Pro – made its debut just over a year ago, and it looks like a new tough-as-nails phone from Samsung is in the pipeline, and its alleged specifications have just been leaked.

Military-grade rugged build, modest internals

As per a tweet from tipster Sudhanshu, the upcoming Samsung rugged phone will be called Galaxy XCover 5. Going by the name, it appears to be a successor to the Galaxy XCover 4 that made its debut all the way back in 2017. Coming to the internal hardware, the phone is said to offer a rather small 5.34-inch display with a lowly HD+ (1600 x 900 pixels) resolution, and given its intended usage scenario, there will be thick bezels and possibly raised lips for added protection.

Buyers will find 4 gigs of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage inside, but the processor that will keep things running remains a mystery. However, a quick glance over the leaked specs makes it abundantly clear that Samsung definitely won’t equip it with a high-end SoC. The Galaxy XCover will feature a USB Type-C port at the bottom and a 3,000mAh battery will keep the lights on, complete with support for not-too-shabby 15W charging – by Apple standards, that is!

No 5G support and a small-ish 3,000mAh battery to power an HD+ display

Over at the back, the Galaxy XCover will reportedly feature a single 16-megapixel snapper, while selfie and video calling duties will be handled by a 5-megapixel camera. The Samsung offering will miss out on 5G support, and will hit the shelves in a single black trim. Nils Ahrensmeier of TechNik News Net added that the phone will likely arrive at some point in March. Going by the overall package, it appears that Samsung might also launch a more powerful ‘Pro’ variant of its upcoming rugged phone with souped-up internal hardware.
