Saygus tweetstorms on the V2’s Snapdragon 801 and an unreliable ODM

Saygus had the uberphone of 2015 at CES — both at last year’s show and this year’s.After a two-month lapse in tweets, Saygus confirmed its CES 2016 projection that shipping will begin within Q1 — another setback from internal sentiment as a February shipping target didn’t account for Chinese factories taking off for the upcoming new year. The Utah-based manufacturer hopes to show off version 3 of its PCB for

Is CES still relevant?

CES is one of the largest consumer electronics expos in the world. This thing is huge. I don’t think it really translates how huge it is until you actually go and walk the show floor – for four days – and still don’t cover everything. There are a ton of electronics companies there but not all of them are necessarily in Pocketnow’s wheelhouse. There is a lot going on is the world of robotics, automotive, and appliances. Nothing sexier than that new refrigerator, right? This year, we had a lot of coverage coming out of CES – smart glasses, phone announcements, and quite a few ...

Casio WSD-F10 Hands-On @ CES 2016

If you’re like me and you grew up with a Casio on your wrist, you might have also wished the company one day decided to make a modern smartwatch, until they did. The company has been under the radar for quite some time now, sticking to what worked a few decades ago, all the time letting other companies take charge of the smartwatch market.  It’s important to point out that Casio is pretty much the pioneer of the classic old smartwatch from back in the day, with calculator watches, to the old Data Banks that we all drooled for when we were kids. Those days are over though as the ...

Vive Pre Hands-On: still the VR to beat (Video)

It’s been nearly a year since we first tried HTC and Valve’s game-changing VR headset. In the time since, it’s gotten a new name and better hardware, plus rumors of a hefty price tag to go with its four-month delivery delay. But despite the challenges, the Vive Pre still delivers the best virtual reality experience we’ve seen yet. We went hands-on with the new visor on our last day at CES 2016 and our entire ground team got to put their faces in Valve’s virtual world; check out the video below for a taste of what we saw.(In the mood to read instead of view? For a full ...

HTC Vive, Nextbit Robin, Casio Android Wear & more – CES 2016 Wrap-up

As is the case every year, CES is the place to be when it comes to seeing the latest and greatest trends. The oddity this year though, is that most of these didn’t really have to do with mobile devices. In most cases smartphone OEMs have now taken the task of having their own shows, and then we see tablets on decline, and a lot of experimentation in the wearable market. CES 2016 was particularly notorious for this, and leaving more questions than answers over the future that we’ll see in products over the next year.Watch our warp-up of CES 2016 as we discuss the hottest ...

Vice City. Full of fattening foods, business propositions of the nether regions, fewer grand theft auto charges than you’d think would be there and — for one week out of the whole year — tech here, tech there and tech everywhere. I don’t know how Pocketnow’s largest ground crew survived through all of it, but they did. CES 2016 Show Recap: All you need to know

Just like that, it’s over. As crowded with gadget announcements as always in the days leading up to the actual pageant’s beginning, as quiet and prone to hands-on time with showstoppers afterwards, and perhaps more diverse and eclectic than ever, due to market trends shifting in directions you couldn’t possibly have imagined a few years back.Fearful you may have missed some of the CES 2016 action, given there was so much to keep track of? Fret not, as our team on the Las Vegas ground refused to get distracted by the town’s glitz (during the day, at least), bringing you

Can you shock your way out of VR-induced motion sickness?

If you paid any attention to Pocketnow’s CES 2016 coverage (and you did yourself a big disservice if you didn’t), you know that we had a lot of exciting virtual reality gear to check out. LG K7 and K10 Hands-On (Video)

What’s there to a name anymore? Just a letter and a number and you’re all set, right? Well, each unit kinda sorta really matters. In this case, LG has decided to bump off the “L” and “F” letters for its mid-range models this year and is adding something more than just a “V” to its vocabulary: K.

Martian mVoice and Kindred Smartwatches Hands-On (Video)

While Martian’s offerings in the smartwatch world do look a tad alien to what we consider the norm, they have their own ways of doing what many consider to be the job of a smartwatch — deliver notifications to you and help you spend less time with your phone. The Martian Notifier was close to being our favorite Pebble/Apple Watch/Android Wear alternative just short of the

Under Armour puts Watson from IBM to its app, UA Record

Under Armour has been making plenty of techie friends lately. HTC, of course, has been churning out the hardware for a box full of fitness wares. But while HTC does make very agreeable Android software, UA’s been looking for something a bit more context-aware and cognizant of what a runner’s or skier’s needs are.So, it came to IBM for some help and got it in the form of ...

Nextbit Robin hands-on (Video)

A full four months after its initial announcement, and roughly 75 days on the back of its public pre-order kickoff, the “rebellious” Nextbit Robin phone made a surprise appearance at CES 2016 in Las Vegas to remind the world shipping will begin soon, at least for super-early Kickstarter adopters. On the whole, the ambitious concept behind the cloud-first device has obviously not changed, ...

CES 2016 Day 4 wrap-up: BLU, Lenovo, Razer, and more

Why must all good things come to an end? More importantly, why must they end before we get to truly appreciate them? Case in point, the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It feels like it only started yesterday. Because, well, it technically did.But as always, the vast majority of high-profile exhibitors hurried to take the wraps off their shiny new gadgets in the days leading up to the ...
