Slingshot Facebook client takes on Snapchat internationally

The Slingshot Facebook app was launched last week, to take on Snapchat, but it was only available in the US. The new photo and video-sharing app enables users to share what’s important with lots of people at once.  As per the description, you can “shoot a photo or video of what you’re up to and sling it to a bunch of friends”.Starting today, the Slingshot Facebook app is available internationally. Facebook’s Slingshot returns, for real this time

Last week we saw the arrival of a new mobile app from Facebook… sort of. The company’s Slingshot app showed up in the Apple App Store for a few countries, but with no formal announcement. Facebook goofs, unintentionally publishes new Slingshot app

Last year, Facebook reportedly tried to purchase ephemeral messaging app Snapchat, and despite the $3B on the table, the company turned down the offer. Facebook has since moved on to new (and much more expensive) messaging acquisitions, but apparently its interest in Snapchat hasn’t waned.
