ASUS Zenfone 7 leaked specs reveal an underwhelming 60Hz LCD display

ASUS will be announcing the Zenfone 7 series on August 26. The company is said to be preparing two models, Zenfone 7 and Zenfone 7 Pro for its next flagship series. Now, specifications of the regular variant have leaked online. They were found in the kernel source of the ROG Phone 3 by the tech blog ReaMeizu

The ASUS Zenfone 7 is said to feature a 6.4-inch LCD display supplied by BOE. It could come with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. ASUS might use different Qualcomm chipsets inside the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro

ASUS’ upcoming flagship duo – the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro – were recently spotted on Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) as well as TUV Rheinland websites. Now, leaked kernel source code has revealed a piece of startling information – ASUS might use a different chipset inside the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro.

As per the code that was accessed by the folks over at GSMArena, two different sets of core clock speeds were spotted – 2.84 GHz and 3.09 GHz – for different ZenFone 7 models. Now, the former is the peak clock speed of the vanilla Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, while the latter is associated with the freshly launched Snapdragon 865+ SoC.

It appears that Asus is looking to truly differentiate between the two upcoming ZenFone 7 models by equipping them with a different chipset that varies in terms of their processing power. As per a previous report, the ZenFone 7 line-up will break cover later this month, but so far, an official launch confirmation is yet to arrive from the company itself.

ASUS ZenFone 7, 7 Pro will reportedly retain the flip camera but will pack more lenses

ASUS has not launched a flagship phone in a while, as the last one to come out of its assembly line was the ZenFone 6 that made its debut in May last year. It appears the wait will end soon. As per a new report from TNNToday, ASUS is preparing not one, but two flagship smartphones for 2020 in the ZenFone 7 series.

The report claims that ASUS is gearing up to launch the ZenFone 7 and a more powerful version called ZenFone 7 Pro. Notably, the ZenFone 7 duo will be cheaper than the gaming-centric ROG Phone 3, which is set to launch later this month on July 22. Talking about the ZenFone 7 pair, they will retain the flip camera design that we saw on the ZenFone 6, but there will be more cameras on the rotating module this time around.

The ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro will reportedly be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip ticking alongside up to 16GB of RAM. Notably, the upcoming ASUS flagships will finally switch to an in-display fingerprint sensor and 5G support will be there on the table as well. Unfortunately, there is no word on a launch date yet.

ASUS Zenfone 7 is coming soon as it appears on Geekbench

ASUS Zenfone 7 / ASUS 7Z launch seems to be just around the corner. The device has been spotted on Geekbench. An ASUS phone with codename ‘asus ZF’ is listed on the website. The phone is expected to be the successor of ASUS Zenfone 6 / ASUS 6Z.

According to the listing, the upcoming ASUS phone scored 973 and 3346 points in single-core and multi-core tests respectively. It is listed to be powered by a Qualcomm chipset with eight cores, and a base frequency of 1.80 GHz. It is likely to be the Snapdragon 865 SoC. Moreover, the device is spotted on Geekbench sports 16GB of RAM.

The company is yet to share any details regarding the device. However, the phone was spotted first when Qualcomm revealed a list of upcoming phones that will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 chip. Moreover, as per previous rumors, the smartphone is set to be launched in July.

Oh so you thought the Galaxy S20 had a big camera hump? Well, vivo has been teasing their new X50 Pro which brings a gimbal like main camera. The company just released a new poster of the phone which shows the quad camera module with the huge main sensor. This main camera is a Samsung 50MP ISOCELL GN1 Sensor which comes with Dual Pixel PDAF tech for faster focusing, it basically rotates on it’s axis like a gimbal for better stabilization. ASUS ROG Phone III and ZenFone 7 to debut around July: Report

Back in February Qualcomm gave us a list of phones that would bring the Snapdragon 865 and, that list included two ASUS phones. It looks like both of those phones are ready to launch according to a new report from Taiwan which claims that the ROG Phone 3 and the ZenFone 7 will either in Q2 or early Q3 of 2020. Going by last year’s launch date, if they do launch in July or August they will be late by a couple of months when compared to their predecessors but, the market isn’t in the same state as it was last year. The company is currently targeting a 30-50% growth in sales for the ROG Phone 3. We’ll keep you posted in case we get more leaks.

Second-gen Moto Razr foldable phone could be launched in September

We all know how excited I was for the Moto RAZR last year, and we all know how that turned out. Well, according to Lenovo’s South African GM, the company is already working on a second generation device and it is supposed to come out in September. He actually mentioned the words “generation two” twice during a podcast while talking about the RAZR. Leaks will most likely start coming in soon and we hope it brings better specifications for the price tag, nostalgia can only go so far.

Apple may have started the production of the new AirPods Studio

A new DigiTimes report claims that we’ll be getting Apple’s AirPods Studio sooner rather than later. The report mentions the fact that Apple will be dropping the wired earphones from the iPhone 12’s box like we covered yesterday. It also mentions that Cupertino will resume regular shipments of the AirPods 2 in the second half of this year, which we wonder if it has anything to do with the move of production to Vietnam, but that does match the timing of the possible AirPods Studio. The company has apparently already started production for these and we could see an announcement at WWDC and they might cost $350.

Story of the day:

We may get a Periscope camera in the Samsung Galaxy Note 20+

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 could’ve appeared in some hot looking renders

We recently got some sketches for the Galaxy Note 20′s design from Ice Universe. Now we got the first renders which were made based on that leaked design. The phone looks pretty similar to the Note 10 from the front with the very boxy design but it does bring some changes. The camera on this one has a larger hump, like the one on the S20 Ultra, the buttons are also on the right side and the S Pen was moved to the left. Like seriously, common sense changes. Now, these aren’t the official renders just yet but, this gives us a pretty good idea of what it might look like according to the sketches. Galaxy Club just found some new information and they claim that the Note 20+ will most likely bring a periscope camera. It isn’t clear if it will be the same one on the S20 Ultra and some other rumors claim that it won’t bring 100X zoom, but it pretty much explains the large camera hump for this phone as well.

ASUS ROG Phone III and ZenFone 7 to debut around July: Report

Back in February, Qualcomm revealed a list of upcoming phones that will be powered by the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 865 chip. In that list were two yet-to-be-announced phones from ASUS, the gaming-centric ROG Phone III and the ZenFone 7. It now appears that the aforementioned duo will go official soon.

As per a report from Taiwan-based Commercial Times, ASUS will launch the ZenFone 7 and the ROG Phone III around the end of 2020’s second quarter, or early in the third quarter. Going by the launch time frame of its predecessor, July or August would be a couple of months late, but it is good to see that ASUS has not shelved the device and is still moving ahead with its launch.

In fact, the company is targeting a 30% to 50% increase in sales for the ROG Phone III compared to its predecessor, the ROG Phone II. It remains to be seen if third time’s the charm for ASUS when it comes to actually getting its beastly gaming phone in the hands of more users.
