8.9-inch Google Nexus tablet might be in the works

There have been a lot of rumors concerning a future possible 8-inch Nexus tablet in the past, and, according to recent reports, it might be closer to the 9-inch form factor, at 8.9-inches in diagonal. Said rumors talk about an end-of-April timeframe, but a recent report mentions volume production for the 9-incher for July/August, for the Nexus 7 (2013) follow-up. “The expectation is [that] this will be a lower volume ...

Intel-powered Nexus 8 rumors arrive; any substance there?

Slowly but surely, Intel’s been making headway back into the mobile device market, and after the past couple years of seeing Intel SoCs pop up here and there, 2014 finally feels like the year when Intel might make its impression felt on mainstream smartphones and tablets. The company had some big announcements to make back at MWC, talking about the introduction of 64-bit mobile chips and arrangements with a number of OEMs, but now we hear a new theory that could really help ...

An HTC Nexus tablet is not the best way to get back in the tablet game

The Nexus program is a somewhat shrouded in mystery. We suspect that Google it running it to a platform upon which it can demonstrate the “pure” version of Android, and to serve as a reference platform from which the other OEMs can look to. It also proves that fairly high-end and high-quality hardware can be made and sold for a very reasonable price — in the States at least. Thus far, Google has selected one OEM to partner with at a time to make a Google-branded smartphone or a Google-branded tablet — tablets being the late ...

HTC Google Nexus 10 follow-up rumored

It was a bit confusing to read about reports talking about a certain eight-inch Google Nexus 8, to be allegedly manufactured by ASUS, and then to read the reports that claimed HTC to be an upcoming OEM for a Google Nexus slate. However, today’s reports are shedding just a tad more light on the events: the Nexus 8 is still, according to hear-say, going to be produced by ASUS. HTC, however, will be the one behind the ...

Google Nexus 8 tablet coming at the end of April?

The Nexus “8″, reportedly the next slate built by ASUS for Google, popped up in reports not so long ago. One such report claimed that it should land around mid-2014, and, based on these rumors, fan-made renders started to pop-up, like the one you see above. A similar report now claims that the Google Nexus 8 should avoid price competition in the seven-inch slate market. “Taiwan-based supply chain makers” claim ...

What do you think of this Nexus 8 concept?

Nikolai Prettner was the creator of the HTC M8 concept we showed you two weeks ago. In the light of the recent rumors talking about a future possible ASUS-made Google Nexus 8 for this year, he has put together the Nexus 8 concept render above. This is how he imagines Google’s 2014 smaller-slate, still one-inch larger than the 2013 model. Judging by the reduced size of the bezels, we’d be inclined to believe that the ...

ASUS-made Nexus 8 referenced in report, hinted for mid-2014

The seven-inch Nexus tablet is in its second incarnation but according to recent reports, demand for Google’s smaller pure Android slate has been suffering due to low-price offerings from competitors. An eight-inch Nexus tablet has been rumored for quite some time, ever since the Android-maker ran a render of a tablet which appeared to be larger than seven inches — which turned out to be nothing else but maybe a Photoshop ...

Is an LG-made Google Nexus 8 on its way?

The seven-inch Nexus has received its 2013 refresh, and so did the Nexus phone, making the Nexus 10 the only Nexus product to be refreshed. Though it was launched last year, together with the Nexus 7 — which already got its successor — we didn’t see a refresh this year; some even argue that, due to the generous spec-sheet, it doesn’t even need a follow-up, at least not at the moment. This leaves us with the question: what other Nexus tablet is Google preparing? The image below, possibly ...
