We start today’s deals with some nice picks for anyone looking to get their hands on a new smartwatch. The Apple Watch SE is one of Apple’s latest wearables, and it delivers tons of features for less. The Apple Watch SE is currently selling for $264 after a $15 discount on Amazon.com, on its GPS-only 40mm variant, but right now, you can get yours for as low as $120, and the best part is that you don’t even have to pay it in full. Verizon is offering the 40mm Watch SE for just $5 a month when you get yours on a 24-month installment plan.
Now, that’s not the only smartwatch that’s currently on sale, as the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS Smart Watch is currently getting a $45 discount when you add the on-page coupon, meaning you can grab one for $255. This watch comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor, and it will give you from 3 to 45 days of battery life. The Ticwatch Pro 4G LTE Cellular Smartwatch is the more affordable option, as it’s getting a $75 discount, meaning you can grab yours for $225. Both watches feature GPS, NFC, a heart rate monitor, and they are also waterproof.
Finally, we have some nice audio products for you to check out. First, the Marshall Stanmore II Wireless Wi-Fi Alexa Voice Smart Speaker is getting a $150 discount, meaning you can get yours for $250. You get a 10 lb speaker with one 50 Watt Class D amplifier for the woofer and two 15 Watt Class D amplifiers for the tweeters. The Jamo S 801 PM powered monitors are also on sale, and you can get a pair for $149 with $50 savings. The best part is that these speakers feature an all-digital amplifier, and you can also connect to them wirelessly, as they also have Bluetooth support. And if you want a pair of new earbuds, you can grab the SENNHEISER CX 400BT True Wireless Earbuds for just $99 in black, or get the white variant for $1 more, as they are getting a 50 percent discount, which translates to $100 savings.

We have been covering deals for quite a while, and let’s be honest, the best savings come with a trade-in. However, companies usually ask for devices in good condition, meaning that your broken phone may get you little to no trade-in value. Well, it seems that Verizon is changing that, as its new deal will let you and many other customers get more for your damaged phones.
I know what you’re thinking, and let me assure you, THIS IS NOT A JOKE! Starting tomorrow, April 1, Verizon will let new and current customers get up to $1,000 trade-in value for old, cracked, or water-damaged phones to use toward its best 5G phones.
“Beginning tomorrow, April 1, and for the first time ever, for new and existing customers: trade in your cracked or water damaged phone and get up to $1,000 off our best 5G phones with a port-in and select Unlimited plans – and that’s #NoJoke”
It may seem hard to believe, but this is 100 percent legit. So, pick up your damaged device and head over to the nearest Verizon store since most of them are already open to the public. Experience the Verizon In-store experience, which is now even better, as you now have the opportunity to reserve an appointment to shop. You know, just to make sure you can go and check out your new device at a time that’s convenient for you, and you can do so through the Store Locator page or the My Verizon app.
Remember that this offer will be available for a limited time, so you may want to hurry. Make sure you don’t miss out on the opportunity to stop being that person that’s still walking around with a broken phone and turn those useless devices that are nothing more than pretty paperweights into something useful, something like a shiny new phone.

The saga of Verizon planning to sunset its 3G services, only to delay it again might finally come to end. The Big Red originally had plans to stop 3G operations in back 2019, but extended it to 2020. Then in January this year, the company put those plans on hold indefinitely. Now, the company has announced it is going to shut down its 3G CDMA network – for good this time – on December 31, 2022.
To recall, Verizon no longer allows activation of non-4G devices on its network, and is now trying to migrate its remaining 3G customers to 4G or 5G with a host of plans and services for both its regular and business customers. However, Verizon says it is strongly encouraging the existing 3G users to make the upgrade. Verizon notes that it would be among the last carriers to abandon the legacy cellular networking standard.
And to achieve that, Verizon says that users might experience what it calls ‘a degradation or complete loss of service’ as the company also plans to reduce its support services and will only offer assistance for extremely limited troubleshooting. More details about Verizon’s CDMA services can and the facilities that are allowed / defunct can be seen here.
However, Verizon has made it clear that the December 31, 2022 shutdown date for its 3G telecom infrastructure will not be extended again. So, yeah, this pretty much is the final nail in the coffin.

OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are now up for pre-orders in the US market, but the carrier situation is a bit tricky at the moment. To start, T-Mobile is the only major carrier right now whose 5G network the OnePlus 9 series phones can latch on to. If you go with another carrier, says AT&T, you can only use 4G LTE, and will simply end up paying a 5G tax. The situation has been no different for Verizon, but that is about to change.
Verizon executive George Koroneos has revealed that OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro have been certified by Verizon to work on its 5G network. If you’ve been on a Visible line, you will also be able to enjoy 5G on your OnePlus 9 series phone. The 5G certification applies to both business and regular tiers of Verizon’s service, which means you don’t have to worry about being left out if you maintain a business account line. But there is still a catch – the flavor of Verizon 5G you can enjoy on your OnePlus 9.
You see, OnePlus 9 only supports the Sub-6GHz band, which means it can only work on the much slower Verizon 5G Nationwide network. But that’s not necessarily good news, as the Verizon 5G Nationwide network offers speeds slower than 4G LTE. PCMag’s Sascha Segan recently ran some tests across multiple locations and found that Verizon’s 4G network actually is much faster than its nationwide 5G.
However, if you want to enjoy the perks of Verizon’s Ultra Wideband (UW) 5G, you’ll have to buy the pricier OnePlus 9 Pro because that’s the only model in the series to support mmWave 5G band. While the carrier situation has been sorted out, Verizon is yet to start selling the phones officially.
Since I’m getting a ton of questions. The @OnePlus 9 is certified for @Verizon 5G Nationwide and 4G LTE. The OnePlus 9 Pro brings 5G Ultra Wideband to the party. The OP8 Pro was one of my favorite phones of 2020 and I can’t wait to get my hands on an OP9 Pro. pic.twitter.com/PkYtFsOst7

If you have a Verizon line and don’t want to switch carriers, you can pre-order an unlocked OnePlus 9 or 9 Pro from the official OnePlus e-store, Best Buy, and B&H Photo Video in the US. Irrespective of the retailer you choose, you can buy an unlocked OnePlus 9 or OnePlus 9 Pro and enjoy Verizon’s 5G network on it.View OnePlus 9 Pro at Best Buy

Well, looks like LG phone owners in the US are finally going to get a taste of Android 11. Yes, a majority of OEMs began seeding the update a while ago, and Google has even released the first Developer Preview of Android 12. But hey, it’s better to finally have it, than not getting the upgrade at all. The update is rolling out for both Verizon and T-Mobile units of the LG flagship.
The official support page for LG V60 ThinQ 5G UW on Verizon mentions that the update started rolling out on February 26 and it carries the build number V600VM20a. But there is some disappointment here. The likes of Samsung have released the March security update for some of their phones, but the Android 11 update for LG V60 ThinQ arrives with the January patch.
T-Mobile, on the other hand, is shipping the Android 11 update (build number V600TM20f) with the February security patch. Notably, the update also enables 5G SA (Standalone) for LG V60 ThinQ units on its network.
As for the changelog, you get the usual set of goodies such as floating bubbles for notifications, overhauled controls, native screen recorder, notifications, wireless Android Auto, and scheduled dark mode. You also get better privacy tools such as the ability to grant one-time app permissions.
Listed below are some additional changes that the Verizon-locked LG V60 ThinQ gets:
Wireless Emergency Alert: Applications and Menu update: In Settings > Network & Internet > Wireless Emergency Alerts, the menu has been updated with Google WEA.
Tap & pay: Tap & pay is now shown when NFC is on, and disappears when it is off. It has also moved from Default apps to Settings > Connected devices > NFC.

Apple’s new iPhone family has something for everyone, whether it’s the small-yet-equally-mighty iPhone 12 mini with a 5.4-inch screen, the two 6.1-inch iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models, or the monstrous iPhone 12 Pro Max, which is more than just a bigger iPhone 12 Pro and is the biggest iPhone ever released.
Clearly, the global situation this year has resulted in delays for certain components. As a result, the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro both go up for preorder on October 16 and ship on October 23. Preorders for the smaller Mini and larger Max variants are delayed to November 6, with shipping starting November 13.
With that in mind, if you want to buy the 12 or 12 Pro, we’ve rounded up the best iPhone 12 deals below. If you’re interested in the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Mini, we’ve also included the options below, but you’ll need to wait a couple of weeks to pre-order.
If you head over to Best Buy right now, you can save up to $1,000 on your new iPhone 12. It all depends on the carrier you choose. First, Sprint, now part of T-Mobile, lets you save from $100 to $500 with qualified activation and an eligible device’s trade-in. We then focus on AT&T, where you can save up to $800 on your new device with the same conditions as Sprint, which means you have to activate a new line on one of AT&T’s qualified plans, and you also have to trade-in an eligible device.
Now, if you want to get your new iPhone 12 on Verizon’s network, there are two options to choose from, as you can save from $100 to $500 with qualified activation and trade-in on an iPhone 7 or newer. However, you may also want to consider the possibility of saving up to $1,000 thanks to a BoGo deal. To get this deal, you need a qualified activation on Unlimited plans for Verizon, and at least one new line is required. Savings will appear as a monthly bill credit, but it won’t be discounted through Best Buy at the time of purchase.
Still, if you don’t want to save on your new iPhone 12, you can also get your device on Verizon starting at $33.33/mo. For 24 months. Sprint will have you paying $34.58/mo. For two years, but if you want to pay less, you can go for AT&T’s option that will have you paying $26.67/mo. But this also means you will have to pay for 30 months.
If you head over to Apple’s online store, you will see that the iPhone 12 is selling for $799, if you buy it upfront, or you can get it with an installment plan that will have you paying $33.29 a month. However, you can also choose to trade-in an eligible device, and this will get you up to $500 depending on the device you have to offer. Unfortunately, if you want your phone to come unlocked, you will have to pay $829 before trade-in, and your monthly payments would go up to $34.54.
If you don’t want to trade-in for an instant discount against your purchase, you can also trade-in your phone for an Apple Gift Card that can be redeemed in Apple’s stores or on Apple.com.
If you’d rather buy it from your carrier, we’ve also rounded up the best carrier deals below.
If you don’t want to take up any savings, you can get your new iPhone for as low as $29.16/mo, but there are several other options to consider, since Verizon is probably the carrier that offers more ways to save on your new iPhone 12.
Now, if you want to save some cash, you can trade-in an eligible device and get a new line to get up to $750 off. You can upgrade your current device and get up to $440 off, or buy one and get $800 off the second device, and yes, you are also going to need a new line.
More importantly, Verizon is also the network with the biggest deployment of those superfast 5G speeds that Apple mentioned. Alongside a new Nationwide 5G network launched alongside the new iPhone, Verizon has the 5G Ultra-wideband mmWave network that offers speeds of up to 4Gbps in 55 cities and growing.
Well, if you want to get your new device over at AT&T, you can get the 64GB base model for $26.67/mo. However, you can save up to $700 with an eligible trade-in, which would leave your new device for just $3.33/mo if you go for the 64GB base model. If you want more storage space, you would also end up paying more, as the 128GB version and the 256GB options would cost you $28.34 and $31.67/mo, respectively, or $5 and $8.33/mo.
T-Mobile is offering up to $830 savings on your new iPhone 12 after certain conditions have been met. First, you need to join Magenta and trade-in an eligible device, which basically will get you a new iPhone for free. You will see the trade-in credits and the balance in the 24 monthly bill credits for your new phone. Of course, you will have to trade in your iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 11, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, or iPhone X in good condition to get your iPhone 12 for free. While the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will get you up to $600 off, and previous models such as the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6S, and the iPhone 6S Plus can get you $450 savings.
As we expected, the iPhone 12 box doesn’t come with a power adapter or wired headphones. There is a USB-C to Lightning cable, so at least there’s that? If you don’t know what USB-C is, or you’re coming from an older iPhone and haven’t got a newish iPad or Macbook, you’ll probably need a USB-C power adapter.
If wired earbuds are a must, then the lack of headphone jack means you’ll want something that’s Lightning compatible. Apple’s official EarPods are the ones you used to get in the box and cost $19, whilst the upgrade pick if you’re interested in something wireless would be the original AirPods for $125. Of course, if you want the best true wireless earbuds for the iPhone right now, look no further than the AirPods Pro, which is currently on sale at $199!

Earlier this month, Fossil launched a new (technically new, but more on that later) Wear OS smartwatch – the Gen 5 LTE. As then name says it out loud, the latest Fossil wearable offers the benefit of cellular connectivity, which means you don’t always have to carry your phone around, as you’ll still be able to read your messages and receive calls on the smartwatch itself. Verizon is offering the Fossil wearable at $349 a pop, but you can also opt for a 24-month plan that is priced at $14.54/month.
As for the color options, you can pick between pink and black shades. Do keep in mind that it only comes in a single 45mm size that takes 22mm straps. The LTE functionality comes to life with Verizon’s Number Share feature, and you have to buy a separate plan for your smartwatch despite sharing the number with the SIM inside your phone.
Now, the Fossil Gen 5 LTE offers essentially the same hardware as the vanilla Fossil Gen 5 that was launched a while ago. Coming to the hardware part, you get a circular 1.28-inch AMOLED display with a pixel density of 328PPI. There is no fancy rotating or capacitive bezel that you’ll come across on the new wave of Samsung-branded smartwatches. The Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC handles things inside, ticking in tandem with 1GB of RAM and 8 gigs of internal storage for storing files and your music selection as well.
Talking about music, you can play it via the onboard speaker, which can also be used to take calls, interact with Google Assistant, hear app notifications, and more. There’s a 310 mAh battery under the hood that is claimed to last a full day, but you can get more mileage out of it if you enable one of the four smart battery modes. The Fossil Gen 5 LTE offers a water-resistant build (only up to 3ATM), with the company assuring that it is swim-proof.

Verizon has yet again postponed plans of shutting down its 3G network, after announcing to pull the plugs on the legacy cellular connectivity generation in 2020. “Our 3G network is operational and we don’t have a plan to shut it down at this time. We’ll work with customers to move them to newer technology,” Verizon spokesperson Kevin King was quoted as saying by Light Reading.
To recall, Verizon had originally announced a while back that it will stop 3G operations in 2019, but then extended the deadline to 2020. With yet another extension, it appears that the company is giving 3G one last lease of life. However, Verizon is not alone when it comes to continuing 3G support.
The other two names in the “big three of US telecom” world – AT&T and T-Mobile also offer 3G support at the moment. AT&T has already confirmed that it will phase out its 3G network in February next year. T-Mobile, on the other hand, has not revealed a concrete timeframe around which its 3G services will see the sunset. However, a Twilio support document suggests that t-Mobile will start shutting down its 3G network in January 2021 itself. “We expect the 3G network to begin to be shutdown as early as January 1, 2021,” it says.
Coming back to Verizon, an official support document says that the carrier is no longer activating 3G devices for a new line on its service. After shutting down the service for postpaid customers back in 2018, the company stopped activating 3G devices starting May last year. Verizon’s latest announcement means the company will continue to offer its telecom services across 3G, 4G, and 5G bands, while it aggressively works on its 5G expansion plans.
However, jumping the 5G bandwagon if you’re on Verizon’s network might not be the best idea if you live in the New York area. As per a recent test, it was found that Verizon’s DSS-based Nationwide 5G network was slower compared to Big Red’s own 4G LTE network.
The post Verizon has put plans of 3G network shutdown on hold indefinitely: Report appeared first on Pocketnow.
Verizon switched on its Nationwide 5G network for around 200 million users in October just in time for the iPhone 12’s arrival. And a month later in December, the carrier expanded the coverage to 230 million users. Now, Verizon’s Nationwide 5G essentially plays second fiddle to its much faster Ultra Wideband (UWB) 5G network that relies on the mmWave spectrum, while the Nationwide 5G runs on lower spectrum bands. Actually, Verizon’s Nationwide 5G relies on a technology called Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) to piggyback on the 4G spectrum in areas where 5G Ultra Wideband coverage is not available. But in real-life tests, Verizon’s Nationwide 5G has been found to be slower than its 4G LTE coverage.
As per tests conducted by PCMag’s Sascha Segan using the iPhone 12 Pro in the New York area, the 5G data transfer speeds recorded on Verizon’s DSS Nationwide 5G network were slower compared to Verizon’s own 4G LTE network. Yes, Verizon’s 4G is faster than its low-spectrum 5G network that covers over 230 million people in more than 2,700 cities. “Our most recent tests, using an iPhone 12 Pro in New York City, show that DSS 5G is frequently slower than 4G, and rarely faster,” the report says.
Tests conducted using the OnePlus 8 on Verizon’s DSS 5G network and the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE on Big Red’s 4G network again proved that Verizon’s 4G LTE fares better than 5G when it comes to downlink speeds. Switching between 4G and DSS 5G on the same device – which happens to be the iPhone 12 Pro in this case – returned the same results. Just to make it clear, the mmWave-based UWB 5G offers much faster speeds, but it has very limited coverage and suffers from penetration issues. The sub-6GHz 5G band, on the other hand, sacrifices raw speeds in favor of wider coverage and more stable network reception.
“I took the iPhone 12 Pro to eight locations around New York City, where I compared 4G and 5G speeds. At the first seven locations, the 5G was DSS and generally slower than 4G,” adds the report. “DSS is supposed to have lower latency, but many of our DSS 5G tests even had slightly higher latency (by a few milliseconds) than our LTE tests.”
When asked about the findings, Verizon issued a standard boilerplate response about how things will improve in the months to come. “For most customers, performance on our 5G nationwide network will be similar to 4G. [DSS] is new technology and we’re continuing to modify it as we go. We expect performance improvement through 2021 and beyond,” a Verizon spokesperson was quoted as saying by PCMag.

LG has finally announced the price of its outlandish Wing smartphone for the US market. If you’ve been eager to lay your hands on the LG’s latest phone with a swiveling secondary display, you’ll have to fork out a cool $999. Pre-orders for the LG Wing kick off on October 1 and it will be up for grabs starting October 15 via Verizon. However, if you are hooked to another carrier, LG assures that the device will arrive on AT&T and T-Mobile as well in the fall season. Unfortunately, we don’t know if LG also plans to sell unlocked units via its own online store or retail partners such as Amazon and BestBuy in the US.
Before we talk about the device’s internal hardware, let’s quickly go through the new experiences that the LG Wing’s swiveling display brings to the table. When you swivel the main display at a 90-degree angle to reveal the secondary display, you can either expand an app’s UI to both screens or run separate apps on each one. For example, you can watch YouTube videos on the main screen while the secondary display will show the comments section. Additionally, you can create shortcuts for two apps that you use simultaneously such as Google Maps and Spotify. And in case you’re wondering, LG says the device can handle more than 200,000 swivels.
Up front, you get a 6.8-inch FHD+ P-OLED display while the secondary display measures 3.9-inch (1240×1080 pixels) diagonally and also doubles as a grip lock. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G SoC runs the show coupled with 8 gigs of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. The Qualcomm chip also brings 5G compatibility to the table. Verizon says that the LG Wing will support its 5G Ultra Wideband network.
The triple rear camera setup includes a 64MP primary snapper, a 13MP wide-angle shooter and another 12MP wide-angle camera that uses what the company calls hexa-motion sensors for a gimbal-like functionality. Selfies are handled by a 32MP pop-up camera. A 4,000mAh battery keeps the lights on, while Android 10 handles things on the software side. If you are interested in buying the LG wing from Verizon, you can check out the financing offers and trade-in discounts here.

The launch of the Google Pixel 5 and the Pixel 4a 5G may be close, but the recently launched Pixel 4a is no slouch.
