Third-party CMRA strap adds not one, but two cameras to your Apple Watch

There’s a bunch of official Apple Watch bands you can buy from the manufacturer’s e-store these days and use to customize the iPhone companion to your liking. But while they range in price from the super-affordable $49 to the extravagant $690, they all have one thing in common: no added functionality.

Now, the third-party CMRA Apple Watch strap developed by Israeli startup Glide definitely doesn’t look as stylish as a leather buckle, Milanese Loop or Link Bracelet. In fact, it’s extremely similar to one of those cheap Sport Bands.

Visually, that is, and at a first glance, because once you’ll look more carefully, you’ll see a camera. And another. One outward-facing, one self-facing, with 8 and 2MP Sony sensors respectively. Why would you want them on your wrist? Because “phones live in our pockets”, according to Glide CEO Ari Roisman, and a camera is “only valuable when it is out and ready to take a photo or video.”

HD video, by the way, plus purportedly “sharp photos”, courtesy of “tilt balancing”, “lens correction”, “noise reduction”, and “pixel optimization.” Sounds… quirky, and the CMRA Apple Watch band isn’t exactly cheap, costing $149 on pre-order for a limited time before going up to $199 and ultimately $249 as shipping begins in the spring.

Oh, well, at least it has its own “dual charging” dock, letting you juice up both the camera add-on and actual wearable simultaneously.
