Google Maps update is all about time spent, time earned

If you need the time to plan, Google Maps will give you it. No matter where you’re headed to eat, shop or play from now on, you’ll be getting just a little more information on when you should get busy movin’.

One feature improvement goes to the Popular Times graph where you’re automatically taken to how busy a point of interest is this hour, this day. You’ll also be told how long people usually hang around.

Lastly, but importantly for people who might be looking into multi-faceted facilities like huge theme parks or restaurants with delivery service, you’ll also have access to operating hours for those different facets.

New Pixel Live Cases, OtterBox Defender are in the Google Store

Maybe you’re not so hot about the Pixel’s design after all? It’s okay, we know a few types who like to saran-wrap their Jet Black iPhone 7.

Fortunately, you have plenty of ways to cover things up. Just as Google has provided some interesting Live Cases for the Nexus phones, it has done the same for the Pixel and Pixel XL. Sure, there are the $40 Live Cases for Places, Photos and a few special artist selections, especially from designer Jeremy Scott.

But some new $49.99 cases are coming onto the scene. As with all other Live Cases, the rather simple looking Google Trends case comes with a live wallpaper that shows off the latest top trending searches. The Google Earth Live Case is printed with your choice of Google Earth view and you’ll have the option of pressing the shortcut button to head to that spot on Google Maps.

Both cases are on the Google Store and Verizon’s site, listed as “Coming Soon.”

In the meantime, you do have the option of taking the durable route with the OtterBox Defender Series cases for both the Pixel ($49.95) and the Pixel XL ($59.95). There’s an inner screen layer, a hard shell and an inner foam lining, all of which should take falls and spills quite nicely.

Google Maps ride-hailing options expands with Lyft and Gett

Uber pads its share of the global ride-hailing pie. Its positioning is very apparent as its service has been the go-to for Google Maps users looking for a way over “there”. Google Maps Wi-Fi mode, transit delay notifications launched

Google Maps, being the robust product it is, can utilize several streams of data at once. Navigation is especially a monster on data plans. But now, you can put a leash on that data use with a new Wi-Fi only mode. The feature is being shuttled to users slowly, but it does what it says on the tin can. Maps will mostly take data with a Wi-Fi connection — it will use a small bit of cellular data as ...
