First availability of the crowd-designed Eve V convertible PC is just about to wrap up on Indiegogo. At this point in time, the project that started its life as the “Pyramid Flipper” has been marked as a success in breaking fundraising milestones of amount and time that Europe has not seen.
In the wake of all this, Eve co-founders Konstantinos Karatsevidis (the media face of the company, image right) and “Mike” (image left) as well as Joel Hughes who manages the UK and European operations of Indiegogo have decided to come together for a Reddit Ask me Anything session.
Questions are being answered as we head to press with this post, so if you’d like to get in a question or two with the crew, you can definitely try for an answer. They’ll be taking questions through about 2:30pm Eastern.
You have until 2:59am tomorrow to make a reservation for an Eve V on Indiegogo.

LG’s Android tablets haven’t been the most spectacular things. If anything, they’re just hunks of LTE capability that get sold with a service package alongside a phone at a local carrier.
But somewhere around halfway interesting, you’ll find this one of many @evleaks from Evan Blass. He purports to be showing off the LG G Pad III 10.1, what looks to be a 10.1-inch Android tablet with a design that seems to be inspired from convertible tablets.

— Evan Blass (@evleaks) December 18, 2016
The corner treatment of the LG logo out on front is imprinted on some heavily grained material while a more matte-looking material behind the screen is carved up to feature a hatch of some sort. Is it a kickstand? Does it hold a stylus? Does it matter at this point?
The tablet bear little resemblance to its G Pad II predecessor and has even less of one when compared to the G Pad III 8.0.
We have no other information about this tablet other than this is just a photo leak from a fairly reliable source.

In at least the tech world, Black Friday has come forward by a few days or, in some cases, even several weeks. No more is it just a deals day for us as it is a four-day weekend chock full of savings you can get around to. Oh, and there’s a little breadcrumb trail of discounts leading up to the big shebang, too.
You know who made a bigger deal about Black Friday sales than the US this year? Amazon.co.uk. That site had weeks of featured discounts under that banner.
We’ve been covering all these deals and we have quite a few more to talk about as a few Cyber Monday press releases have just begun to pop up. But since most of these campaigns have been lumped in to include both Monday and Tuesday anyways, we’re going to give you a little taste of what you might be able to find for deals as of this post, all of these are guaranteed to go through Sunday, November 27 or later — exceptions will be duly noted.
With that, let’s start from the top end of mobile and move our way down. We’ll give you links to extensive US carrier deals near the end.
We hope you have a pleasant Thanksgiving and a safe, fun time shopping this weekend. And the next few weeks. Don’t forget to buy ugly sweaters on your way out!

The pictures of a thin phone running some version of Windows 10 on an Intel x86 processor as provided by Evan Blass now have a backstory, but as provided by Evan Blass.
Blass reported on VentureBeat that the device, non-cellular as it turned out to be in uncovered documents, may have just been the integral piece to an ecosystem of Windows 10 desktop and mobile devices envisioned from Dell. Thanks to Continuum and Universal Windows Platform apps, users would be able to move all of their computing tasks between a core phablet-sized device, other tablet form factors (such as the one pictured above next to the core device), a laptop and a desktop. The project was called Stack.
Documents showed that the tablet was originally envisioned as a 6.4-inch tablet with a full HD screen that could be equipped with an Intel Core processing unit built on the Kaby Lake architecture. Mind you, it wouldn’t be a full-blast U-series processor, but a more conservative dual-core Y-series processor (then using the Core m branding). Still, the design of x86 would give the tablet more power than an ARM chip (such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragons) to push more apps with Continuum. Docking the tablet to a desktop unit would allow Stack to harness more power — 12 watts instead of 3.5 watts.
The renders we saw seemed a little too optimistic on getting this device as thin and mobile as possible — the goal was apparently to keep the tablet under 9mm in thickness. That was until blueprints were revised to reflect Dell’s design language and the size of phablet grew to 7 inches in diameter. Complicating the space were other specs like either 4GB or 8GB of RAM and solid state disks with 128GB or 256GB of room, plus a microSD card slot to boot. A five-megapixel selfie camera would double as an iris scanner. All of that would take up a lot of room and leave less of it for heat dissipation.
Stack was conceptualized in the middle of 2014. The company bet on a commercial launch by spring of 2017. There was even a cell-enabled 6-inch planned as a second-generation device. But at this point, it’s unclear if the project is still alive or dead and for what reason.
While Intel did cancel its recent mobile chipset efforts, it is still working on propagating Kaby Lake while also selling more fitting Apollo Lake chips. Did HP’s Elite x3 chill Dell’s plans by providing a satisfying Continuum experience with the help of an ARM chip? With Microsoft interested in keeping Windows 10 on ARM and cellular connectivity, perhaps the Stack would be going too far off the grain to garner it full-throat support?
There are plenty of questions, but only so much storyline. What is clear is that there is consumer interest for hub-distributed computing. It will be realized by a supplier at some point — Neptune wants to do it for Android — and if Dell doesn’t do it first for Windows, perhaps another OEM or even Microsoft will.

The challenge for Chinese manufacturer Lenovo is progressive. PC and tablet sales continue to sag worldwide while the smartphone market seems to be peaking at this point. But it has been able to struggle through its second fiscal quarter with multiple innovative if somewhat gimmicky product launches.
Revenue compares 8 percent poorer from a year ago to $11.2 billion. While the number is up 12 percent from the sequential quarter, that number compares to a 14 percent gain from last year. There was net income of $157 million, compared to a loss of $714 million last year.
Income from PCs in North America bucked the market trend, growing 14.7 percent year-to-year and 5.2 percent worldwide. Gaming sales jumped 36 percent, detachable solutions rose 52 percent while so-called “millennial” or affordable PCs tripled.
The company was happy to proclaim that Motorola is now able to make some major stat gains including sequential volume — up 25 percent in general and 39 percent for Moto-branded phones. Operating margins inched up by 4 percent from last quarter while average sales price stepped up by 18 percent annually. Units-wise, 14 million smartphones were sold, a 25 percent annual improvement with most of it in the Asia Pacific and Indian regions.
While the Mobile Business Group reported a 12 percent decline in revenues, the unit is expected to “turn around” by mid-2017.
