Wireless. Effortless. Magical. And let’s not forget still unavailable, almost two and a half months after their original announcement, and several weeks behind a “late October” ETA.
Perhaps this is Apple’s way of building up buzz around a pair of no doubt attractive albeit also controversial cable-free headphones, designed specifically to go with the 3.5mm audio jack-excluding iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
Or maybe despite all the ridicule, and an arguably prohibitive $159 price point, demand is estimated to far exceed Cupertino’s production capabilities for the “magical” AirPods. After all, these might look a tad cartoonish, but they’re actually very technologically advanced, custom-designed W1 chip and all.
Whatever is holding off their commercial rollout, Apple needs to get a move on, and at least kick off sales before Christmas. Fortunately, a couple of reputable (and authorized) retailers on the old continent now expect to receive stock late this month or sometime in December.
The former would be ideal, even if the AirPods could still miss the Black Friday rush by a whisker. Besides, if the all-white, automatically on and always connected earbuds are indeed set to come to France’s Fnac and the Czech Republic’s Alza soon, you can probably cling on to hopes of a November 25 US Apple Store launch.
