The official news today begins with deals as it is a new week.. Sort of. The Razer Blade Stealth 13 is also $349 off, leaving the one with the same specs as the MacBook Pro and an Nvidia GeForce 1650 Graphics card for $1451. I know, if I were you I’d go Razer. HUAWEI’s Kirin 9000 SoC could sport a 24-core GPU

Now let’s move on to Huawei and their Kirin processors. I know, we thought we weren’t getting any more of that but things continue to evolve. We know that Apple was the first to announce a 5nm chip with an A14 Bionic, so Huawei wants to do something to stand out. According to a new tweet from Ice Universe and some benchmarks, the Kirin 9000’s GPU uses 24 cores, yeah you heard that right but, that’s not entirely good. Ice mentions that this is the highest specification, but it’s clocked at a lower frequency, so it doesn’t really transfer into the results. According to a leaked AnTuTu benchmark, this SoC scored over 693K, basically on par with the Exynos 1080, but it obviously has better results when it comes to graphics. We’re expecting the Huawei Mate 40 Pro in a couple of days with this Kirin 9000, a 6.76in OLED Display, up to 12GBm of RAM and a pretty impressive camera so, we’ll keep you posted. That said, even if I’m looking forward to it, I wonder how many of you are. Let me know in the comments.

iPhone 12 and 12 Pro pre-orders could’ve reached 9 million during the weekend

Now let’s get back to Apple and, well yes, a lot of content already launched and they look pretty good. Our units arrive on Friday so stay tuned for our impressions. That said, let’s talk sales figures as a new report from Ming Chi Kuo estimates that the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro saw between 7 to 9M pre-orders over the past weekend. Last year, Apple got 10-12M pre-orders during launch week but of course that was a different time. Kuo actually says that this beat analysts expectations as Apple’s customers usually prefer the two high end models but apparently there is a strong demand in China, the US and Europe. Analysts also expect the Mini and Pro Max to sell in more moderate quantities but Apple should still have a pretty good year overall. The 12 and 12 Pro will apparently take 30-35% of the pie, the Pro Max 15-20%, with the Mini being the least popular at 10-15%. How many of you pre-ordered the phone, or are you still waiting to see if it’s worth it? Also chime in the comments.

Google Pixel 5 devices are starting to show a serious issue

Now let’s move on to Google, cause of course, there can’t be a proper Pixel roll out without some issues. It’s been less than a month since we got the Pixel 5 but, some people are starting to notice a gap between the phones frame and the display. Most of the reports were on the Pixel Phone and XDA forums but, the guys over at Android Police are having this issue as well. The issue apparently happens in different places but, the most common area is close to the selfie shooter. In some cases it’s less noticeable than others but, at the end of the day this could be a pretty big issue if it compromises the water resistance on the phone. Some reports mentioned that this issue was present as soon as they took the Pixel 5 out of the box and it hasn’t separated over time but it still sounds like something Google should address. We’ll keep you posted once they post a response whether it’s positive or negative for the buyers. So far, we don’t really know what to make of this just yet so, and I can confirm that none of our units are having issues, but we’ll see.

Department of Justice calls Google ‘monopolist’ in its antitrust lawsuit

The US Department of Justice has filed an anti-trust lawsuit against Google, for allegedly violating antitrust laws. According to them, Google is a monopolist that violated the laws to trounce the competition, specifically in the search and advertising markets and highlights a few “exclusionary agreements”. Some of them include, making business arrangements that make the pre-installations of their search app mandatory on mobile devices, signing that long term deal with Apple that makes Google the default search engine on Safari and exploiting their monopoly to get preferential through their search engine, browsers and more. Google simply responded by saying that this is a deeply flawed lawsuit that does nothing to help consumers and they also addressed other details like the fact that Apple chooses Google Search because they think it’s the best. Thing is flawed or not, the last thing we needed is more drama in 2020. We’ll see how this ends.

Story of the day:

Samsung Galaxy S21, S21 Ultra alleged renders reveal camera bump and flat display

And finally, for the hottest news today let’s talk Galaxy S21, S30 or whatever this thing is going to be called. If you remember, there’s a very high possibility that the phone will be launched earlier, around late January or early February of 2021 according to sources, so obviously that opens the door to official CAD renders, even this early. These come from OnLeaks and Voice, showing off the new design. Keep in mind, this design might and will most likely change over time so this is somewhat of a first look. First off, we have a flat 6.2in display at the front with the typical slimmer bezels and with the centered punch hole at the top. That’s all fine but probably the biggest change is the camera hump which is almost flushed to the rest of the phone. On these renders it brings a triple camera array, almost no word on those just yet but we are expecting some big changes. Again, expect rumors on this phone to only intensify as time goes by since that’s the way this works.

Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 750G chip brings an AI-driven noise supression tech

Now let’s talk about Qualcomm as the company is clearly pushing the premium midrange segment harder than they are their flagships it seems. Qualcomm has been very update as of late, and now they’re updating their 7 Series with a new SoC. This new Snapdragon 750G is an 8nm processor which uses the Kryo 570 core CPU that promises a 20% boost in performance, and the Adreno 619 GPU which offers a 10% boost in graphics. This new processor supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz 6G with the X52 modem, and it comes with the Snapdragon Elite Gaming features bundled. It supports things like 4K HDR video, 192MP images, slow-mo 720p at 240fps, 120Hz FHD+ displays, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and more, with a peak clock speed of 2.2GHz. It will be available by the end of this year, with Xiaomi launching the first phone powered by it.

Xbox Beta app now lets you remotely play Xbox One games on your Android phone for free

Now for our gamers in the audience, let’s talk about the recent moves that Microsoft has been doing, with one in particular. Microsoft just made a big move as they just acquired ZeniMax Media. If you don’t know who ZeniMax Media is, they’re Bethesda’s parent company which should ring a bell. They’re also the parent company for other gaming developing studios like Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog and more. According to Bloomberg, Microsoft spent around $7.5B for this deal to happen, they’re biggest videogame purchase ever. They released a statement where they said that “they’ll be adding Bethesda’s iconic franchises to Xbox Game Pass, and they’re most excited to see the roadmap with the future games.” Bethesda owns some of the biggest titles in the industry like Fallout, the rebooted Doom titles, Wolfenstein, The Elder Scrolls and more. They haven’t made any announcements as to any new originals or how they plan to distribute them but it looks like it’s a move to compete against Sony which always had the upper hand when it comes to exclusives. I’m seriously just happy over Wolfenstein, which continues to be one of my favorite games of all time.

AT&T believes iPhone 12 launch may not be a ‘Massive event’

And yes, the whole proximity to TechTober means that we’re getting closer and closer to the iPhone 12 line up so, with hype building up, but not everywhere it seems. AT&T has come out with a report that says that they’re not too hyped about it. According to the company’s CEO of communications, he claims that “he does believe that you will see many of the current iPhone subscribers upgrade their device, but he wouldn’t forecast that it’s going to be a massive event, but of course he wouldn’t call it a nonevent. He thinks that based on the current pressures of the economy, people will make a calculated decision when they buy these new phones, and AT&T is going to be there to offer these Apple devices regardless.” Basically, what he’s trying to say is that with 5G and the added prices, he doesn’t think people will flock to stores to get the new iPhones like it’s happened in prior years, due to the economy but hey, with Apple you never know. What do you guys think will happen? Think this is why the iPhone mini is gonna be the biggest push for the company

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirms a 120Hz display for the upcoming OnePlus 8T

OnePlus 8T 5G European pricing leaked ahead of launch

Yesterday, OnePlus announced that we’ll be getting the 8T on October 14th. Oddly they’re not doing it with the same amount of hype they did with the Nord, which is kind of ironic. Now, we got some official statements from Pete Lau when it comes to this phone’s display. According to Pete himself, this phone will pack a 6.55-inch display running at 120Hz. He also added that they’ll be using a 2.5D flexible display for the first time with this phone. If you didn’t know, a 2.5D flexible panel offers improved light permeability, reaching a maximum brightness of up to 1100 nits. The report also adds that this phone will bring a 91.9% screen to body ratio, the highest of any OnePlus phone. Finally and moving away from the specs, he claims that it will have the highest color accuracy possible across the screen. But enough with promo, let’s move to some leaked price tags which we got yesterday on Twitter. According to this tipster, these prices are exclusive for Europe and, they’re pretty expensive. The entry level variant for the 8T will cost €799 and the added RAM and storage will cost you €899. This is actually cheaper than what we currently got with the 8 but, if you remember last year, the 7T was €100 cheaper than the regular 7, so these leaks might not be too far off. He also claims that his source is very sure of these prices and, we should expect that same number for the US, meaning $799 and $899 as OnePlus doesn’t really change price with different currencies. Too expensive, good price? I think if OnePlus doesn’t bring it down to $699, it’s gonna be a tough race.

Story of the day:

Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G early retail listings reveal the price, storage and color options

And finally the hottest news of the day have to do with new developments when it comes to the Google Pixel 5. Let’s keep on talking about pricing leaks and, this time it’s positive. Now, it’s been listed on European retailers, giving us more information on the pricing, color options and storage variants. First we got some screenshots of the listings but, those aren’t too trust worthy, so later on we got a reliable tipster confirming the price tags. According to him, the Pixel 4a 5G will cost €499 and it will come in Black and White variants. The Pixel 5 will cost €629 and will come in Black and Green variants, no panda this year. All of the screenshots from the retailers go along with these price tags so, they’re probably not too far off. Focusing on the Pixel 5, we’re expecting this phone to bring a 6-inch OLED display running at 90Hz, the Snapdragon 765G, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. As well as a dual camera module at the back but it now includes an ultra wide angle lens instead of the telephoto. The 4a 5G will simple be a larger variant of the Pixel 4a, with 5G and a dual camera.

Apple Watch Series 6 teardown reveals larger battery and average repairability

It's only fair to share...Share on RedditShare on FacebookShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Tumblr

Apple Watch Series 6 is the latest and greatest that Apple has to offer from its smartwatch portfolio. In fact, the new Apple smartwatch packs in more power and additional sensors that will let users measure the saturation level of oxygen in their blood. And impressively, Apple has managed to fit in all those sensors and hardware inside an even thinner chassis than its predecessor. Now, iFixit has given the Apple Watch Series 6 its traditional teardown treatment, giving us a look at its metallic guts.

Image: iFixit

iFixit notes that it is now easier to pry open the internals, thanks to the departure of the Force Touch gasket. To recall, Apple has killed the Force Touch pressure-sensitivity feature with the arrival of watchOS 7, and has therefore removed the Force Touch gasket from the Apple Watch Series 6. The company has used the vacant space to fit in a larger Taptic Engine and a bigger battery. Talking about batteries, Apple has retained the battery design seen on the Apple Watch Series 5, but the capacity has gone up this year.

Image: iFixit

The Apple Watch Series 6’s 44mm variant packs a battery rated at 1.17 Wh, which is 3.5% larger than the one seen on Apple Watch Series 5. The 40mm variant of the Apple Watch comes equipped with a 1.024 Wh-rated battery, which is 8.5%  bigger than its Series 5 equivalent. The teardown also reveals that there are fewer display connectors inside the Apple Watch Series 6 and there is only one grounding cable, paving the way for a more streamlined internal design.

Image: iFixit

Talking about the ease of repair, iFixit has given the Apple Watch Series 6 an average repairability score of 6/10. The teardown expert mentions that screen replacement is possible and replacing the battery won’t be too difficult either. However, the “tiny tri-point screws throughout the watch can be difficult to remove.” And since multiple component cables are mounted directly to the S6 SiP module, it would require careful soldering to replace them if they are torn.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G with a 90Hz display, 64MP camera coming soon for under $400: Report

OnePlus Buds Z to be company’s budget TWS earphones: Rumor

OnePlus made a lot of buzz with the Nord earlier this year and, apparently they want to keep that up. We know that Carl Pei confirmed that we’d be getting more Nord devices and now, a new report from Android Central gives us more details on that possible device. It’ll reportedly be called the OnePlus Nord N10 5G and it will bring a 6.49in FHD+ display running at 90Hz, the Snapdragon 690 SoC, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’ll apparently bring quad cameras at the back, with a main 64MP sensor, an 8MP ultra wide and of course, my favorites, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro. Finally, the report claims that this device would be priced under the $400 mark to compete with the iPhone SE and the Pixel 4a. But, that’s not it, Max J is back at it again teasing a new OnePlus product. In his typical fashion he tweeted out the word BudZ which were also spotted by XDA in the Oxygen OS 11 Beta. Apparently these would be a more affordable version of the OnePlus Buds which are already pretty affordable. So far we have no specs for them just yet but, we hope they get a new design to avoid any other customs incidents.

OnePlus 8T launch date is October 14: Report

Let’s continue talking about OnePlus but about a more familiar device this time. We’ve been getting a lot of leaks for the OnePlus 8T, first we got some specs for it and then we got some CAD renders, revealing the design changes. Well, according to a new report from MySmartPrice and a very reliable tipster, we’ll be getting this device on October 14th. The 8T will reportedly feature a 6.55in FHD+ flat display running at 120Hz. It’ll be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, not the Plus, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. We’ll also be getting a new quad camera stove-module that consists of a 48MP main sensor, a 16MP wide angle shooter and again, my personal favorites, a whopping 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP portrait camera. It’ll also pack a 4800 mAh battery and it’ll run on the latest Oxygen OS 11, meaning Android 11.

Infographic reveals everything about the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G

We’ve been covering a lot of leaks of the Galaxy S20 FE, and I mean a lot. Now, Evan Blass just shared us the full infographic for the device which gives us, well everything. These new leaks serve as confirmation for the ones we’ve had before, including the 6.5in AMOLED display running at 120Hz, an Exynos 990 for the LTE variant, and the Snapdragon 865 for the 5G model. It also packs a 4500 mAh battery and an IP rating. We have a triple camera setup and the back which includes two 12MP shooters and an 8MP telephoto. It has a pretty similar design to the Galaxy S20 but with a flat display and the camera module kinda looks like the one on the regular Note 20. Apparently it’s getting it’s own Unpacked Event on September 23rd and it is rumored to start at €700.

Apple could have new magnetic wireless charger in the works

We know that Apple failed with AirPower after they announced it a crazy three years ago and we know that rumors for it have sparked up again. However, it looks like Apple might be working on a totally different form factor. 9to5Mac has posted a new video that claims to be of a “magnetic wireless charger prototype”. Honestly, it kinda looks like one of the AirTags but, we’re expecting those to be way smaller so that’s pretty much ruled out. It’s a flat white disc with somewhat of a connector at the back. The circular shape of course resembles the Qi connector on the back of iPhones and with that connector it kinda looks like it might be part of a larger accessory. Now, remember that we have had leaks of ring magnets on the back of the iPhone 12 to help it stay in place when you’re wirelessly charging it and this might be related. We don’t know if this is a new form of AirPower or what, but it definitely looks interesting.

Story of the day:

USA bans TikTok, WeChat from Play Store and App Store

And finally for the most controversial news today, let’s talk Ban Section and everything you should know. Let’s rewind a little bit so you’re aware of everything that’s been going on today. Some time ago, the President of the US gave an executive order to ByteDance, to sell their US operations of TikTok to an American Company, or they would be banned. There were several reports that Microsoft or Oracle would buy them, saying that it was practically a done deal but, TikTok didn’t want to sell. In the mean time they chose to sue the government and China also change their regulations, so they were only able to sell if they had permission from the Chinese government. Also, remember that WeChat was also getting banned and, earlier on we covered how that might affect Apple. Well, in a new press release, and we’re going to try to stay as far away from the political jargon as we can the US Department of commerce said “Today’s announced prohibitions, when combined, protect users in the U.S. by eliminating access to these applications and significantly reducing their functionality. So as of September 20 for WeChat and as of November 12 for Tiktok, they will be prohibited basically hosting services or provisioning content for their US application. The Department of Commerce said that they are doing this because of security due to the risk these apps possess. This basically means that they will ban you from downloading the app from both, the App Store and the PlayStore in the United States. We’re not exactly sure if you’ll still be able to fully use the app in the US but, if you’re in another country you’ll be able to get it.
