Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S7 users complain about green tint on display

The green tint problem on the display of Samsung devices has found new victims. After plaguing Galaxy S20 Ultra users for a while, users are now reporting issues with their pricey new Galaxy Note20 Ultra as well as the Galaxy Tab S7 duo (via SamMobile). We’ve come across multiple reports on Reddit documenting the weird green tint issue concerning the aforementioned devices.

As per user complaints shared on Reddit and the official Samsung community forum, both the Exynos and Snapdragon-powered variants of the Galaxy Note20 Ultra are plagued by the issue. The green tint becomes noticeable when brightness is set to low levels. It appears that the problem is associated with faulty hardware, as one of the affected users claims to have got a replacement unit that worked just fine.

Similarly, we have also come across a couple of posts on Reddit documenting a similar green tint issue with the display of the Galaxy Tab S7 as well as its larger sibling, the Galaxy Tab S7+. However, Samsung is yet to officially acknowledge the issue and release a fix for it if there is a bug behind it.

Samsung may be working on a new Galaxy Fold “lite”

A new Samsung phone just went through the Wi-Fi Alliance and, it looks like Samsung might be working on a “Lite Foldable“. All of the Foldable Samsung phones have a model number that starts with an F, for example the Fold was F900 and the Z Flip was F700. Now, this new phone has an F400 model number hinting to a more affordable phone. The model number also reveals that this is a second generation device so we could be getting a new cheaper Z Flip. Of course this is just speculation as of right now but, it would be nice to see if it’s real.

Epic Games is hosting a FreeFortnite Cup on August 23 targeted squarely at Apple

We know that Apple most likely has the upper hand when it comes to their Epic situation but, Epic isn’t staying put either. We know that so far they have, filed a lawsuit, mocked Apple’s 1984 ad, and they’re CEO had some interesting stuff to say about Apple. Now, it looks like they’re doing a little bit of a marketing stunt in-game. They’ll be hosting a “Free Fortnite” Cup on August 23rd, offering different prizes that include a “bad Apple”. Because, they just made a new Tart Tycoon skin which, well, it’s an Apple with a suit. This is most likely to stay in the spotlight while they hear something from the lawsuit. As far as we know, the 14 days are still in effect so they might want to hurry up.

Apple to reduce costs in the iPhone 12 series with battery board changes

Speaking of Apple, it looks like they’re really trying to cut some corners with the iPhone 12 to save some money. According to a new report from Ming Chi Kuo, the adoption of sub-6GHz 5G will increase Apple’s cost by $75-$85, while the mmWave technology will mean a $125-$135 increase. He also mentioned that Apple has been putting some “higher bargaining pressure” with their suppliers and, one of the ways they will be able to cut the price will be with the battery board. Apparently we will be getting a simpler and smaller battery board with fewer layers and this one will apparently be 40-50% cheaper than the one on the iPhone 11. In addition to that they will be also moving on to a pure soft board design in 2021 which will decrease an extra 30-40% from the iPhone 12’s cost. We’re expecting these iPhones to come in October and November, let’s just hope this doesn’t mean worse battery life as we’re also getting smaller batteries.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra users are already reporting camera defects (Update)

According to the Samsung forum posts, multiple Galaxy Note 20 owners have been having several issues with hardware issues on the Note 20 Ultra’s camera. Apparently there are visible gaps in their camera module which accumulate dust particles and condensation droplets on the inside of the glass panel. If you are one of these people, don’t worry as Samsung just issued out a statement on the matter. They said that they are committed to ensuring the customer’s satisfaction and optimal experience on Galaxy devices as they have been getting reports of fog build up on the Note 20. They gave an explanation saying that as with reading glasses, water resistance phones can suffer from condensation with a sudden temperature change. Sadly, they didn’t say if they will be replacing these phones or fixing them for free. These are most likely a bad batch of phones so, we’ll keep you posted on Samsung’s next move.

Story of the day:

Here’s your first detailed look at the Google Pixel 5 and its boring design

Google Pixel 5 leak tips Snapdragon 765G, an ultra wide angle camera and 90Hz display

We have different Google Pixel 5 leaks from different sources so, let’s start with the design. We have some new CAD renders from OnLeaks, and this literally looks like the Pixel 4a’s big brother. It brings the Pixel 4’s camera module, a fingerprint sensor at the back meaning that the punch hole is here as well, no more facial recognition. These renders show off the black color variant and we should be getting a green variant as well. Let’s move on to the specs, which is where it gets interesting. According to a new report from Android Central, it will bring a 6in OLED display running at 90Hz and, even with the larger display it will apparently have the same footprint as the 4a due to the slimmer bezels. It’ll be powered by the Snapdragon 765G, 8GB of RAM and they will reportedly start at 128GBs of storage. Finally, and probably the most important, the report mentions that this phone will still bring a dual camera, a primary, and an ultra wide angle. Finally. We still don’t have any info on the battery size or the price tag but, it shouldn’t be so steep with the Snapdragon 765G.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra users are already reporting camera defects (Update)

It's only fair to share...Share on RedditShare on FacebookShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Tumblr

Update:

Samsung has already commented on the issues affecting the camera in the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The guys over at TechRadar reached out to the company, and they received this information posted below:

“Samsung is committed to ensuring consumer’s satisfaction and optimal experience on Galaxy devices. Recently, there have been a limited number of reports of fog build-up inside the cameras of Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

“As with reading glasses and other glass objects, condensation can occur in water-resistant smartphones when they are exposed to a sudden temperature change.”

Original Story:

It seems that Samsung didn’t entirely fix the camera problems in the new Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, as Samsung’s forums have been used to report several camera defects in these devices. The reports and some evidence suggest that all of the devices that present problems are part of a bad batch of phones.

Several Galaxy fans who purchased the latest Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra reported problems with the camera of their devices. The reports claim that there are visible camera module gaps on the back of their devices. Some of them have even seen dust particles and condensation droplets appearing inside the glass panel covering the phone’s camera module.

Mistakes in the device’s assembly could cause this defect, but Samsung hasn’t made an official comment on the matter. These issues shouldn’t affect functionality, but if your device is presenting these problems, you should get in touch with customer services to see if your device can get fixed or get a new device altogether.

Samsung Galaxy Note20 vs Galaxy Note20 Ultra: What’s different?

As the world watched, Samsung unveiled a host of new devices at its online Unpacked event. While the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Buds Live earbuds attracted a lot of attention, the real star of the event was the Galaxy Note20 series. As per its new tradition, Samsung launched two flagships – the Galaxy Note20 and the Galaxy Note20 Ultra. Both the phones packs some impressive hardware and an equally highly entry-point of $999.99 for all that goodness.

Fascinated yet, but torn between the two Galaxy Note20 series phones? Well, read on to find out the areas where the two phones differ and discover which one is the right Galaxy Note20 series device for you.

Samsung Galaxy Note20 vs Galaxy Note20 Ultra: Design and build

Unlike the previous-gen Galaxy Note 10 and its Plus variant, both of which had an identical design, Samsung has taken a different route this time around. The Galaxy Note20 has a curvier profile with rounded corners, while the Galaxy Note20 Ultra has sharp lines with a blocky design similar to its predecessor. Another major aesthetic disparity is that the Galaxy Note20 has a flat display while the Ultra sibling rocks a subtly curved panel.

But the biggest difference between the two phones is that the Galaxy Note20 is made out of plastic, while the Galaxy Note20 Ultra has a more premium glass and metal build. Plastic build for a phone that costs a thousand dollars? Well, that’s what you get! Thankfully, an IP68 certified build is a trait shared by both phones.

Samsung Galaxy Note20 vs Galaxy Note20 Ultra: Display

Another huge difference, and an unacceptable choice made by Samsung, is that the Galaxy Note20 uses a 60Hz panel. No high refresh rate display on a $999.99 phone? Well, try to convince yourself before shelling out. On the other hand, the Galaxy Note20 Ultra’s panel goes up to 120Hz, much like its Galaxy S20 series siblings.

Going into specifics, you get a more pixel-dense 6.9-inch Quad HD+ (3088 x 1440 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O display, while the vanilla Galaxy Note20 packs a smaller 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Plus display with an identical central hole-punch at the top. Both the phones use an HDR10+ certified panel though.

Samsung Galaxy Note20 vs Galaxy Note20 Ultra: Hardware

Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra rocks a metal and build, while the vanilla Galaxy Note20 goes for plastic.

Both the Galaxy Note20 series phones are powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor, but certain markets such as India will get the Exynos version of the device. The Galaxy Note20 pairs that 7nm silicon with up to 8GB of RAM, while the Galaxy Note20 Ultra goes up to 12GB. You get to choose between 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage, which can further be expanded up to 1TB via microSD card.

The two phones offer Wi-Fi 6 support as well as 5G – both mmWave and sub-6GHz bands. The Galaxy Note20 packs a 4,300mAh battery, while the Galaxy Note20 Ultra comes equipped with a 4,500mAh battery. Both the phones support the proprietary fast charging technology which is claimed to juice the battery up to the 50% mark in just 30 mins. You also get wireless charging support as well.

Samsung Galaxy Note20 vs Galaxy Note20 Ultra: Cameras

The Galaxy Note20 Ultra has a 108MP main camera and periscope-style telephoto lens.

One of the biggest differences between the two phones is their camera hardware. Starting with the Galaxy Note20 Ultra, it uses a higher resolution 108MP primary camera with OIS, while the standard Galaxy Note20 uses a 12MP sensor backed by OIS. The 12MP wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view is common between the two phones.

Interestingly, you’ll find a 64MP telephoto camera on the Galaxy Note20 that delivers 3x hybrid optical and 30x super res zoom output. The Galaxy Note20 Ultra, on the other hand, packs a 12MP telephoto camera that delivers a higher 5x optical and 50x super res zoom output. The selfie camera on both the phones uses a 10MP sensor with an 80-degree field of view.

Samsung Galaxy Note20 vs Galaxy Note20 Ultra: Price

Samsung Galaxy Note20 starts at $999.99, while the Galaxy Note20 Ultra will set you back by en eye-watering $1299.99 for its base variant. The two phones will be up for grabs starting August 21 in certain countries, while pre-orders go live on August 6 in the US. You can get the Galaxy Note20 in Mystic Bronze, Mystic Green and Mystic Gray colors, while the Ultra model can be yours in Mystic Bronze, Mystic Black and Mystic White shades.

Here’s everything Samsung is launching today in all its glory – before Samsung can launch it

Today’s Galaxy Unpacked is going to be a busy one, as Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Note 20 Duo, the Galaxy Tab S7 pair, the Galaxy Watch 3 smartwatch, the Galaxy Buds Live earbuds, and the Galaxy Z Fold 2. We’ve already seen them in leaks and also know almost all of their specifications, but apparently, that was not enough.

Leak maestro Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) has dumped a treasure trove hi-res renders, product images and marketing videos of all the aforementioned devices, parading them from all angles. We get to see the Galaxy Note 20 and its Ultra sibling in all color options, showcasing some of their capabilities via promotional videos.

We also get our best possible look at the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and all the new design elements it brings to the table such as a larger cover display, a hole-punch screen on the inside and four custom hinge colors. We also get a look at the wireless power share feature of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in action, and finally, how the bean-shaped Galaxy Buds Live earbuds actually look in the ears.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 might use UWB technology for faster file transfer

Samsung’s upcoming stylus-toting flagships – the Galaxy Note 20 and its Ultra sibling – will reportedly use the UWB (Ultra Wideband) technology for better device positioning that will result in a faster file transfer experience. The fresh leak comes courtesy of @SaudiAndroid, who claims that UWB technology (the tweet appears to mistakenly mention it as UWP instead) will be an NFC alternative.

Notably, the Galaxy Note 20 duo is claimed to be the first that employs the UWB technology (on the Android side of the mobile ecosystem), but more smartphones are expected to adopt it in the near future. US FCC listings also suggest that Samsung has been testing the UWB technology for a while and might finally showcase its magic starting with the Galaxy Note 20 series.

The UWB tech, which likely will rely on a dedicated chip, will use the 8250MHz band and might be similar to how Apple’s U11 chip inside the iPhone 11 trio uses the UWB tech for spatial awareness. Theoretically, the UWB tech will allow users to just point their phone at another device for prioritizing connectivity and transferring files at a faster pace.

You may get a free pair of Galaxy Buds Live with Galaxy Note 20 Ultra pre-orders

It seems that Samsung is trying or will try to boost Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra sales. According to a new leaked image, the device will include some freebies when purchased during its pre-order period, well, in some countries, at least.

According to a leaked image of a flier, Samsung Indonesia may be planning on giving out free Samsung Galaxy Buds Live or Galaxy Buds+ for pre-orders of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The company would give e-vouchers with pre-order confirmations, and these would cover the full price of any of the earphones mentioned above. Now, we can’t confirm if this offer may apply to other markets, since they may get different freebies or none at all.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series pricing allegedly leaked, and it is bad news

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 series will make its global debut on August 5, but thanks to the company’s poor track record at guarding its launch secrets, we know almost everything about the devices’ specifications and how they look. The only thing that was yet to be revealed was the price, but that changes now as well, thanks to tipster Ishan Agarwal.

As per a report from MySmartPrice, the vanilla Galaxy Note 20 in its 4G avatar will start at €999, while the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G will cost €1,349 for the base variant. Listed below is the expected pricing of the Galaxy Note 20 series for the European market, and how much it might cost in the US and India based on the current conversion rate:

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 20 4G (256GB) – €999 (~ $1,175 / Rs. 87,850)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 20 4G (512GB) – €1,099 (~ $1,290 / Rs. 96,650
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G (256GB) – €1,349 (~ $1,585 / Rs. 1,18,740)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G (512GB) – €1,449 (~ $1,704 / Rs. 1,27,540)

However, the tipster notes that the actual price that customers pay for the Galaxy Note 20 or Galaxy Note 20 Ultra might be a bit higher after adding in VAT or other taxes. Needless to say, the aforementioned pricing is definitely on the higher side of the spectrum, and those yearning for Samsung’s latest Note-series flagship will have to pay a pretty penny to own one.

Samsung’s Unpacked trailer gives us the first real glimpse of five upcoming devices

Samsung has scheduled an event on August 5 where the company will unveil five new products, some of which have already appeared in extensive leaks. The South Korean electronics giant has now released the first trailer for its highly anticipated event that shows us a glimpse of all the devices that are set to debut early next month.

Towards the end of the video, we see a silhouette of five devices that will break cover at the next Unpacked event, and it is pretty clear what they are. At the extreme right is the Galaxy Note 20 with the S Pen, sitting alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Watch 3 smartwatch, the Galaxy Buds Live true wireless earbuds, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 behind it.

The Galaxy Note 20 and its Ultra sibling have also appeared in some hi-res renders and we also have come across their camera specifications in detail. Similar is the case with the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+, both of which will bring an upgraded dual rear camera setup and the S Pen magnetically attached to the device. Additionally, live images of the Galaxy Buds Live as well as the Galaxy Watch 3 have also made their way online.

Feast your eyes upon the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in Mystic White color

We’ve already seen some pretty detailed renders of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and the regular Galaxy Note 20 ahead of their debut on August 5, and have also come across their key specifications as well as alleged pricing. But it appears that the floodgates of leaks are yet to close anytime soon, as renders of the Galaxy Note 20 duo have now surfaced online in two new colors.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in Mystic White (Image: 91Mobiles)

Starting with the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, the upcoming Samsung flagship has now been spotted in a beautiful new Mystic White color (pictured above). The phone appears to have taken some inspiration from the Galaxy Note 10’s Aura White color option. The S Pen also has a matching color scheme, mimicking the white and chrome finish on the device.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 in Mystic Green (Image: 91Mobiles)

In addition to the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, we also get a glimpse of the Galaxy Note 20 rocking a yet-to-be-seen Mystic Green color in all its glory. Right off the bat though, this will undoubtedly draw comparisons with the Midnight Green color of the iPhone 11 Pro. However, Samsung appears to have gone with a lighter and more vibrant shade of green and has given the S Pen the same color treatment as well.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 might ship with a 25W charger in the retail package

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 series will break cover on August 5, but we already know almost everything about the vanilla Galaxy Note 20 and its Ultra sibling, as well as how they look. Now, a fresh leak courtesy of a reputed leakster with a stellar track record suggests that Samsung will ship its next Note-series flagships with a 25W charger in the retail package.

In a series of tweets, WinFuture’s Roland Quandt mentioned that both the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will ship with a 25W charger in the retail package. If true, it is extremely disappointing and an utterly parsimonious move from Samsung, especially when we know that the upcoming flagship will cost a pretty penny and will almost definitely start around the $1000 mark.

As per a previous leak, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra’s camera setup will include a 108MP primary (F/1.8, OIS) camera, accompanied by a 12 MP wide-angle lens (F/2.2, 120°), a 12MP telephoto lens (F/3.0, OIS) and a ToF 3D depth sensor. It will also be able to record 8K videos at 30fps and 4K videos at 60fps.

The regular Galaxy Note 20, on the other hand, will feature a 64MP telephoto camera, a 12MP main snapper and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Talking about the price, the Galaxy Note 20 is tipped to start at KRW 1,199 million (~ $998 / Rs 74,700), while the base price of Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has reportedly been locked at KRW 1,452 million (~ $1,200 /Rs 90,400).
