HTC may finally deliver a device with Android 10 with the HTC Desire 20 Pro

Does anyone remember HTC? Well, earlier this year we heard that the company was under new leadership and we were expecting them to get back to their roots and launch some sort of flagship. An HTC Desire 20 Pro just popped up on Google Play support and now we get some of the specs. It’ll apparently be powered by a Snapdragon 665 SoC, 6GB of RAM and will run Android 10 out of the box. We got schematics for the design of this phone back in April, and now it was also certified by the NCC so we should see it some time soon. Thing is, fine that you wanna use the roots thing to bring a classic name like Desire, but where are the flagship elements in those roots HTC?

There is now a video of the upcoming Google Android TV streaming device

Yesterday we got some images of Google’s new dongle for Android TV which is codenamed Sabrina. Our friends over at XDA now have a recovered video that shows the device and the UI. The device will apparently be announced along with the Pixel 4a and it will allow you to Cast from your devices and control it with a separate remote that also allows for voice controls. It’s not exactly a Chromecast and it will work more like an Apple TV where it has it’s separate UI that you can control with the remote without the need to cast to it from your phone. It will also bring some features from their Smart Speakers like letting you answer your door from it or ask it different questions, we should be hearing more about it in the next few weeks.

Apple may be working on services bundle

Apple is apparently working on a bundle for their different services. 9to5Mac just found new files in the iOS 13.5.5 code that reference a “bundle offer” and a “bundle subscription”. The files are said to be related to the “management system of Apple’s own services subscriptions like Apple News+.” We’ve heard rumors of this since 2018 and it looks like it might happen, merging Apple Music, Apple TV+ and Apple News+ into the same bundle offering. If you combine the current prices of these services it amounts to $25 so we hope it’ll be somewhere around the $15 mark.

The Moto Razr 2 could arrive with larger displays

Recently we heard that Motorola was working on a successor for last year’s Moto RAZR and it looks like things are on track for that September launch. According to the Display Supply Chain Consultant’s CEO, both of the RAZR’s displays will be growing in size. He didn’t specify on the outer display but apparently the main display will adopt the same size from the Galaxy Z Flip, meaning a 6.7in display which is half an inch larger than the current RAZR. Other leaked specs include the Snapdragon 765G, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, Android 10 out of the box and a 48MP main camera.

Story of the day:

Apple could give us iPhones with low-power LTPO OLED displays in 2021

iPhone 13 prototype shows an under-screen camera, in-display Touch ID and a USB-C port

And finally the hottest news today have to do with iPhone, but we’re not exactly sure which one. If you remember last week we talked about lightning sticking around for another year because the next iPhone is going portless. Yeah hold on to that. Let me summarize it. Back on Monday we got some dummy units for the iPhone 12 which looked kinda sketchy since they’re pretty much a showcase of footprint and that’s it. Now we have some iPhone 13 dummies from the same source. We know that Apple is notorious for prototyping and we recently got some leaks that hinted to a port-less iPhone. These new leaks don’t follow on that and we should take this with a considerable amount of salt considering the timeline but, these do show a notch-less iPhone coming, which also brings a USB C port and a weird camera array that doesn’t really tell us anything about the cameras. Speaking of this notch-less display, a new DigiTimes report claims that Apple’s supply chain partners are developing OLED displays using LTPO backplane technology for the 2021 iPhones. LTPO is the technology that allows for a more power efficient display, paving the way for better battery life and that ProMotion display that we’re expecting for the upcoming iPhones. Most of the leaks we’ve covered from reliable sources hint to the 2020 iPhones bringing ProMotion features, but other sources claim that LTPO is essential for that and we might get it until 2021. I know, it’s all a mess..

HTC may finally deliver a device with Android 10 with the HTC Desire 20 Pro

It seems that HTC is not giving up on its smartphone business. We may soon get a new device with Android 10, as the HTC Desire 20 Pro has appeared in the Google Play Support console.

The latest leak of the HTC Desire 20 Pro reveals the most important details of the device. We see that this new mid-ranger will arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor and 6GB RAM, and yes, this will be the company’s first smartphone with Android 10. We would also get a 6.5-inch LCD with a 1080 x 2340px resolution. Now, we only have to see who actually gets this device.

The Prodigal Son Returns! An HTC 5G flagship phone is coming in July: Report

HTC has been out of the flagship game for quite some time, and given the current financial status of its smartphone business, a return to its former glory (and moneymaking ways) seems far, far away. But as per a recent report emerging out of China, a high-end HTC phone is coming out in July this year.

MyDriver claims that a Snapdragon 865-powered flagship phone, complete with 5G support, will be released in just over a month from now. Not much is known about the rest of the specs, but the design will reportedly be inspired by the HTC U12+ that was launched two years ago.

But prior to launching its 5G flagship, HTC is also rumored to launch a 4G-only Desire 20 series mid-ranger next month. This is most likely the HTC Desire 20 Pro, whose schematics leaked last month revealing four cameras at the back and a punch-hole cutout on the front.

T-Mobile will begin to sunset Sprint this summer for creating a unified brand

The T-Mobile and Sprint merger has been going on for a while now and it finally saw some completion on April 1st. The company made it clear that they would basically ditch the Sprint moniker and call it “The new T-Mobile”. At an investors event they just shared that they are planning a summer timeframe to start creating their unified strategy and simply advertising T-Mobile. If you are on Sprint, they did promise that users will remain on their carrier plans but they will eventually be moved to T-Mobile. What we do know is that you will start seing the Sprint brand disappear everywhere as of now, so don’t be surprised.

HTC could be prepping to launch wireless earbuds, images surface

Do you remember HTC? Well we’re still waiting on that flagship phone the company promised but, it seems they’re making some True Wireless Earbuds. These new earbuds are apparently called the HTC U Ear and they just appeared on the FCC website. The design… looks pretty similar to the regular AirPods, except for the fact that this is a glossy black color variant, which means they look like the Huawei Freebuds 3. We also get pictures of the case which also looks like the AirPods case but, the earbuds lie horizontally on the case instead of vertically like the AirPods.

OnePlus’ true wireless earbuds might be another AirPods clones arriving in July

Speaking of AirPods clones, we have a new leak of OnePlus‘ upcoming true wireless earbuds. The picture hints to a July release date and shows off a design that looks pretty much like AirPods except for a few details. The source also put out a different tweet which says “SOON” and the two O’s are earbud cases, and these actually look exactly like the new Pixel Buds case. We’ve also had other leaks from the same source which hinted to the OnePlus Z coming in July so it makes sense for them to launch together.

Microsoft Surface Duo leak reveals dated specs inside a foldable form factor

Microsoft announced the Surface Duo… last year, and it is slated to come out by the holidays this year. Now we have some more detailed and kind of underwhelming specs from Windows Central. It will reportedly feature two 5.6in AMOLED displays, with the 360 degree hinge. It will sadly be powered by the Snapdragon 855, a 3460 mAh battery, 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. There’s no NFC support, no 5G and it will apparently run a heavily skinned version of Android 10. It’ll bring a single 11MP f/2.0 camera which will also serve as the selfie camera. Like, unless Microsoft is pricing this bellow $1000, we wonder exactly who it’s gonna be for.

Story of the day:

US takes another step to block HUAWEI’s global chip supply, China warns of retaliation

Earlier this week we reported that the US was extending the ban on Huawei for another year but, they didn’t stop there. The US Commerce Department has announced plans to block Huawei’s access to global semiconductors shipments that come directly from US Sources. The main goal is to stop Huawei from using solutions provided by US companies. According to Reuters, right after the US announced these plans, China decided to hit back. They are warning the US of some retaliatory measures which would include putting US companies on their own “unreliable entities” list. China would impose this ban on companies like Apple, Qualcomm, Cisco and more. On a separate report, the President of the US plans to add more taxes on companies like Apple which manufacture their products outside of the US with the goal of having them manufacture in the US again. The current tariffs have already cost American companies around $46B and these new ones might force companies like Apple to raise prices if they don’t move their operation. HTC could be prepping to launch wireless earbuds, images surface

HTC could soon launch a pair of TWS earbuds. The moniker is being called HTC U Ear and has been seen on the FCC’s website. Moreover, the listing includes images as well, so we know it looks like.

The HTC U Ear seem to come in black and have a gloss finish. The case is shaped like a cube with rounded corners. Further, the earbuds lie horizontally in the case, unlike the Apple AirPods.

The case is likely to charge via USB Type-C. However, there is no mention of support for wireless charging.

As of now, there is no information on when HTC will announce these earbuds or how much they will cost.
