Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra may include a Bright HM2 108MP camera

It's only fair to share...Share on RedditShare on FacebookShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Tumblr

We are months away from the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S21, but rumors about Samsung’s next flagship in the S series have been arriving since April. Once again, we will be talking about the camera setup that’s expected on this device, but instead of the lack of ToF sensors, this time, we will focus on the device’s primary camera.

We get new rumors concerning the new camera of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. This new device is supposed to include a new ISOCELL Bright HM2 sensor, with the same 108MP capacity as the one found in its predecessor. This sequel to the original Bright HM1 was recently mentioned on Twitter by well-known leaker Ice Universe, so we can expect this information to be correct. However, let’s not forget that many things can change in Samsung’s next Galaxy S series, as rumors have also mentioned the possibility of getting BOE OLED panels in these devices, well, if they manage to pass quality tests.

This is the new Sony Alpha a7S III, built for recording 4K video

Alright, like I’ve been waiting for this moment literally for the past 5 years, and I’m both happy and disappointed. Sony just unveiled their new Alpha 7S III mirror-less camera which is oriented for video. This camera brings a new 12.1MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor with a new image processing engine with up to 8x more power. It shoots UHD 4K video with 16-Bit Raw Output. It also allows you to use their new Atomos Ninja V HDR monitor recorder to allow for ProRes RAW recording via HDMI up to 4K at 60fps. So we finally get the camera that all of us YouTubers have been waiting for. Finally, a Sony full-frame camera with larger Pixels, meaning higher ISO sensitivity that includes an articulate LCD that can record 4K at 60. And oh, they finally fixed the menu system and you can actually select things in the menu with your finger. The problem is that, it’s too late and why? Because Canon just killed it with their new 8K RAW video on the EOS R5, and it’s only an extra $300.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 official renders and retail package surface online in fresh leak

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 series leaks reveal the price and give us a closer look at its design

The Galaxy Watch 3 is probably one of the most leaked Samsung products of all time. Now, we have a new leak from Twitter showing off the packaging. There’s really not much to see here except for the new Copper variant. The leaked specs for this watch include either a 1.2in and 1.4in display depending on the variant, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage running the latest Tizen OS. There’s also a full Unboxing video on YouTube from a different channel than the one we got yesterday so yeah, no secrets left here. We also have multiple pictures of the Galaxy Tab S7 from Evan Blass, showing the device with the S Pen, the keyboard and even playing Halo with an Xbox Controller.

CES 2021 will be an all-digital experience, kicks off on January 6

Yes, it happened. The CTA just announced that CES 2021 will be an online-only event. The event will take place from January 6th to January 9th and, according to the company, technology and innovation will help them reimagine CES and will help bring together the tech community in a more meaningful way. They also said that by using a digital platform it allows them a more unique experience to help their exhibitors connect with existing and new audiences. This is not a surprise as, all other events except for IFA to some degree have been cancelled and, the CTA determined that there was just no way to carry out CES as a physical event next year.

Apple patent envisions two iPads connected and being used as a dual-screen device

It looks like Apple keeps on looking for ways to avoid adding a touch screen to MacBooks. AppleInsider just discovered a new patent applications that show how Cupertino would design an accessory that would allow you to connect 2 iPads for “notebook-style” computing. The application is titled “Modular Multiple Display Electronic Devices” which basically let’s you use a modular hinge to connect two iPhones or two iPads to use one as a display and the other one as a dynamic keyboard. The patent shows two different scenarios, one would work like a regular laptop with both of the displays on landscape mode or, like a Book which kinda looks like the Surface Duo. There’s multiple patents that suggest multi-screen devices from Apple which could also mean that the company is looking for foldable alternatives as well. Now if only we all lived in Monaco and could afford having two iPad Pros each.

Story of the day:

We could have pricing, storage options and battery sizes for every iPhone 12 variant

For those of you waiting for the new iPhones, we have even more leaks from Twitter and, there’s actually a considerable amount here. Let’s start off with the batteries, the tipster claims that the regular 12 will bring a 2227 mAh, the 12 Max a 2815 mAh, the 12 Pro will bring a 2775 mAh and finally, the 12 Pro Max will bring a 3687 mAh power pack. The tipster claims that the 12’s battery life is actually worse than the SE 2’s, the 12 Pro will get the same as the 11 Pro, after that you get the 12 Max and apparently the 12 Pro Max will remain the battery king as it will bring similar battery life to the 11 Pro Max. According to him, the small 12 will bring such a small battery because it packs larger camera components and Apple had to make some room by sacrificing some battery life. Now, let’s move on to the prices. Apparently the 12 and 12 Max will come in both 5G and LTE variants and, the 5G 12 will start at $699 for the 64GB variant, while the 5G 12 Pro starts at $799 for the 64GB variant. The 12 Pro and Pro Max won’t bring LTE variants and they will start at 128GB of storage for $1049 for the 12 Pro and $1149 for the 12 Pro Max. According to him the 5G and LTE variants will have $50-100 in difference between them. He also claims that these prices are different than the ones we got from Jon Prosser due to the new mmWave 5G systems and the fact that the regular variants will bring Samsung displays.

Next-gen AirPods Pro will reportedly arrive in the second half of 2021

It’s been a while since the AirPods Pro were announced and it looks like we might not have to wait too long for a refresh, kind of. According to a new DigiTimes report, production for the new AirPods Pro will be handled by Inventec Appliances, Luxshare and others in Vietnam and they would enter mass production in the first half of 2021 to launch in the second half. This means that they will most likely align with Apple’s October launch cycle, so we could get these with the iPhone 13 line up. Other rumors hint to these AirPods bringing Light Sensors to enable some new health monitoring features.

We could get BOE displays in the Huawei Mate 40, Samsung and LG panels in the Mate 40 Pro

We haven’t really talked about the Mate 40 series for this year and now we have some rumors for the displays. According to a new report from the Elec, the regular Mate 40 will be rocking a BOE display while Samsung and LG will provide the OLED panels for the Mate 40 Pro. The report mentions that these new panels will have a touch sensitive layer embedded in the display panel, allowing for better mechanical and optical properties. According to a tipster on Twitter, the regular Mate 40 will have a curved display with a single selfie camera while the Pro will have a waterfall display with a pill-shaped punch hole housing two selfie cameras. We’ll keep you posted once rumors start ramping up.

ASUS ROG Phone 3 brings Snapdragon 865+ and triple rear cameras in a more refined form factor

ASUS just made it official, they announced the ROG Phone 3 and yes, this is still a beast. It brings a 6.59in FHD+ AMOLED display running at 144Hz with 270Hz sampling rate. It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ and it starts with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, going all the way up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It packs a crazy 6000 mAh battery, which supports 30W fast charging and it brings improved internal cooling when compared to the last model. The design didn’t change too much from the last model, it still brings the RGB logo which can change color for notifications, and you still get 4 shoulder buttons that serve as triggers for a more immersive gaming experience. The cameras however are getting some major improvements, now we have a triple camera array that consists of a 64MP main sensor, a 13MP ultra wide and a 5MP macro camera, you also get a 24MP selfie shooter. Apple’s 2022 iPhone might come equipped with a periscope telephoto camera

We have some new predictions from Ming Chi Kuo on what to expect for the future iPhone cameras. According to the report, Semco and Sonny Optical which are the best Korean and Chinese lens manufacturers will enter Apple’s Supply Chain for the second half of 2020 and for 2021. While the consumer doesn’t really care about supply chain, the outcome is for the best as Kuo believes that Semco will provide periscope lenses for Apple but, the catch is that this will be for the 2022 iPhones. The report also mentions that Apple has been filing patents related to periscope lenses since 2016, like the one you’re looking at right now. According to this patent Apple would use a “folded telephoto camera lens system” which would absorb light through the primary lens, have it bounce off the periscope mirror and then it would be sent to the second lens which will move up and down for the zooming.

Samsung unveils Galaxy Z Flip 5G with Snapdragon 865+ SoC, hits the shelves on August 7

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra leaks in all its glory

Let’s stay in official news territory as, Samsung just silently unveiled the new Z Flip 5G. Last week they promised 5 different devices at Unpacked so that leaves us with the Note, the Z Fold, the Buds, the Tab S7 and the Watch. This new Z Flip 5G comes with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ and the rest of the internals remain the same. However, we’re now getting two new color variants, Mystic Gray and Mystic Bronze and these seem to be matte which looks so hot. You’ll be able to get it at AT&T, Best Buy, Samsung, T-Mobile and Amazon, starting at $1500 on August 7th. Now, let’s move away from the official news and talk about the Note for a second. We have some new press renders from WinFuture and let’s just say, they look pretty official. These pictures are of the Note 20 Ultra, showing off everything we’ve seen before including the cameras, the S Pen and the display but this time we get them in high resolution. No more potato quality.. They also provided a full list of specs for the phone if you want to check them out but, they go along with the leaks we covered earlier.

Apple’s 2022 iPhone might come equipped with a periscope telephoto camera

One of the hottest smartphone camera trends that we’ve seen lately is a periscope-style telephoto lens that allows phone cameras to dramatically increase their optical and digital zoom range. Apple has so far shied from this innovation, but things might change with the 2022 iPhone line-up, claims noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who has had a stellar track record with predictions related to the Cupertino giant’s future hardware plans.

As per the latest note from Kuo (via Macrumors), Apple has started lining up new lens suppliers for its 2022 iPhones, and two of the names that have reportedly been locked are Semco and Sunny Optical. The aforementioned companies are claimed to be the best lens suppliers in Korea and China respectively.

Notably, Semco will reportedly provide the lion’s share of periscope telephoto lenses to Apple for its future line-up of iPhones that debuts in 2022. It is unclear whether Apple will fit all 2022 iPhones with the telephoto camera hardware, but it will likely be reserved for the ‘Pro’ and ‘Pro Max’ models for the sake of differentiation.

Google is toying with the idea of a dual-screen Chromebook

We know that Google rarely, and I mean rarely, experiment with Chromebooks but, there’s a possibility that, that might change. According to 9to5Google, new code submissions show that Google might be working on a dual-screen Chromebook. The device is codenamed “Palkia” and the code clearly mentions a second touchscreen on the device. The code also mentions tablet mode so, we aren’t sure if this will be a clamshell form factor with two inner displays kind of like what we get from ASUS, or a flat out foldable with a touchscreen on the inside and one on the outside. However, a developer’s comment suggests that this device is not an OEM device and is only a prototype, so it looks like Google is testing the waters here.

It seems that Apple could be ‘ready to ship’ a new iMac refresh

We have a new vague leak from Twitter for upcoming Apple products. According to the tipster, products are ready to ship, the problem is, he didn’t specify which products. Some of the strong candidates include that re-designed iMac with the new bezels, as Ming Chi Kuo also predicted that Apple would refresh the Intel-based iMac in Q3. We’re also expecting those AirPods Studio, which were supposed to come at WWDC but, we didn’t get any hardware. Another candidate is the AirTags which were leaked by Apple back in April and are designed to compete with Tiles. We could also be getting a new iPad or a new Apple TV but, all we know as of right now is that they’re ready to ship. So yeah Tipster.. How about you be more specific next time.

The 2020 iPhone SE has boosted iPhone sales, and helped users upgrade

It looks like Apple’s plan with the iPhone SE is working. The CIRP just released the numbers for this last quarter and, the iPhone 11 and the Pros still take about 65% of purchases, but the iPhone SE did make a dent. It covered about 19% of sales this past quarter meaning, people are still more likely to go for the newer, higher-specked iPhones but, it is taking sales from the older models. By comparison, last year the XS/XS Max and Xr took the same 65% but, the iPhone 8 and 7 took the rest of the sales, with no iPhone SE to take that extra 19%. According to CIRP’s data, a user with a phone that’s over three years old has a 73% likelihood to upgrade to the SE so, it looks like Apple’s strategy is working just fine.

Here’s your first official look at the upcoming OnePlus Buds in all three colors

OnePlus Nord will feature a 90Hz display and a generous 12GB of RAM

And, we’ve gotten a ton of official leaks from OnePlus, including the Buds. Now, Evan Blass and 9to5Google have recovered some pictures of the Buds from the latest Oxygen OS update. We get to see the Buds in their three different color variants, Black, White and of course, Dave2D teal. The pictures show off the case from the front and back, and we get to see the Buds from behind. We’re able to see the touch controls and, the only time we’ve seen the front is from Evan’s leaks but, they look kinda weird. Moving back to official territory, OnePlus teased that these will bring Noise Cancellation for calls and ta new teaser on Instagram hints to the price tag being lower than $100. They also confirmed that the Nord will bring a 90Hz display. We’ll keep you posted as, the event is tomorrow.

This leaked Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 render is almost too good to be true

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 leaked hands-on video reveals key camera features

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 confirmed to debut alongside Galaxy Note 20 on August 5

Second display on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 will include an essential feature

We have a lot of leaks for Unpacked today so, let’s start with the Z Fold 2. Samsung UK pretty much confirmed that we will be getting this phone at Unpacked with a new teaser that says, “A new look Unfolds“. After that, Ice Universe posted a very blurry press render of the device. It shows off the new camera array which looks pretty similar to the Note, it shows the USB-C port and the speaker grill and, we can’t really see anything else from this image. According to a new Max Weinbach tweet, the Z Fold 2 will be able to use the new 6.23-inch outer display as a viewfinder, so you’ll be able to take selfies with the primary camera, instead of having to use the selfie shooter. And on that Note, pun intended, seems we also have some new leaked camera features. It looks like Pro Video will now allow you to select which microphone you want to use,.. I know, something LG came up with a while ago, but this one is even allowing form Bluetooth or USB, adding more flexibility for streamers or vloggers. It will also be able to record video in 21:9 at up to 8K. Finally, they will also be adding 50x to this phone and to the S20 Ultra as it currently just jumps from 30x to 100x.

OnePlus Nord’s camera hardware officially detailed

We know from leaks that the OnePlus Nord will feature dual front cameras, while the official sneak peek earlier this week revealed four cameras at the back. Well, the suspense is finally over, as OnePlus has finally revealed the camera hardware that has been fitted inside its highly-anticipated mid-ranger that arrives on July 21.

Starting with the quad rear camera setup, there is a 48MP primary snapper with the Sony IMX586 sensor. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5MP depth sensor and a macro camera (resolution unspecified). Notably, the 48MP main camera will also bring Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to the table, allowing users to capture blur-free photos and more stable videos.

Over at the front, you get a 32MP primary camera sitting alongside a wide-angle selfie camera with a 105-degree field of view. OnePlus has not revealed the resolution of OnePlus Nord’s secondary front camera, but a previous leak suggests it will use an 8MP sensor working in tandem with a wide-angle lens.

Canon launches 45MP flagship EOS R5 for $3,899

Alright, can I just say Dear Canon, welcome back. For those of you that didn’t know this show started with a Canon T3i back in 2012, and let’s just say the company really dropped the ball after. Took forever to adopt 4K, and when they did it was a horrible crop even at full frame. Like we had to move to Sony and then Panasonic, but we might just wanna go back. Hear this.. They just launched a new flagship 45MP EOS R5 camera. Yes, it costs $3899 but, this thing is capable of recording 8K 12-bit RAW video with new in-body stabilization with their class-leading Dual Pixel autofocus. Oh, and did I also mention that it records 4K at 120fps, and that it brings an articulate LCD display? So, to my buddy David Cogen who said that Blackmagic was a poor man’s RED, this just took the title.

Android 11 set to go official on September 8?

Android 11 Beta 1 was released about a month ago and yesterday we got the second version. Now, we don’t have an exact launch date for the final software but, Mountain View may have just leaked it. Google released a video titled “Works with “Hey G” Smart Home Summit – APAC” and it revealed through a check list that Android 11 would be officially released on September 8. However, Android Authority reports that Google reached out and said that the date was an error but it still gives us at least an idea of when to expect the official Android 11.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ leak reveals Snapdragon 865+ and 45W charging

Now we have the specs for the Galaxy Tab S7+ which, according to the report, will bring the new Snapdragon 865+ SoC, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage along with a 10090 mAh battery which supports 45W fast charging. It’ll also bring 5G connectivity but, it will only support sub-6GHz bands. Apparently it will also pack dual cameras at the back and a 120Hz display. Moving on to another certification, the Galaxy Buds X or Buds Live just went through the FCC as well, revealing the dimensions and the fact that they will weigh around 5g. They have this bean shape as they’re meant to go inside your ear unlike the Buds+ and will reportedly cost $140 to undercut the AirPods Pro while still bring Noise Cancellation. Some leaks hint to these launching along the Galaxy Watch 3 on July 22nd instead of Unpacked but, we’ll have to wait and see.

Story of the day:

We get more OnePlus Nord leaks

OnePlus Nord leaked in full glory ahead of July 21 launch

We’re getting closer and closer to the OnePlus Nord and now we have some leaks that actually don’t come from OnePlus. The first one is a couple of pictures posted by Evan Blass, showing the phone off in a black color variant. We get to see the quad camera array at the back along with the dual punch hole at the front, pretty much confirming the leaks and teasers we saw earlier. The second image also comes from Evan, now showing off the cases which will apparently be made by three different artists. The first two come from Swedish artists called Camilla Ermstrong and Finsta, while the third one will be a teardown case by our buddy Zack at JerryRigEverything. You gotta admit this is the most epic OnePlus launch ever and probably at the right time considering, right now what we need is more affordable phones. Canon launches 45MP flagship EOS R5 for $3,899

Canon has finally launched its flagship 45-megapixel, $3,899 EOS R5. It can shoot 8K 12-bit RAW video aided by a new in-body stabilization system and Canon’s class-leading Dual Pixel autofocus. It comes with a brand new 45 megapixels full-frame CMOS sensor. The camera can achieve blazing continuous shooting speed of up to 20fps at full resolution using the electronic shutter, and with full AF and AE tracking, thanks to the DIGIC X image processor.

Despite having 45 megapixels, EOS R5 native ISO can go up to an incredible ISO 51200, with the option to expand to ISO 102400. The AF coverage area has been expanded to cover the entire sensor (100% x 100%). This means focusing is available on any part of the frame, making focusing on subjects at the far edges a breeze.  Manually selectable AF positions on the EOS R5 is 5,940. The AF tracking has improved dramatically. The camera is equipped with the ability to enable AF Priority mode for either people or animals. In addition, the camera is able to recognize not just the body, but head and eyes of the subjects as well.

Canon EOS R5

It incorporates In-Body Image Stabilization function and it can also work in conjunction with Optical Image stabilization of the lens, effective up to 8-stops shutter speed. The camera can handle a wider range of shooting conditions because of the support for EF and RF series lens with IS or Non IS category. Despite its compact size, EOS R5 has two card slots that can accommodate one CFexpress card and one SD memory card.

The processing power of DIGIC X, coupled with the ultra-fast CF express media, enables EOS R5 to record mind-blowing 8K movies at 30fps with full sensor readout. Shooting in 8K allows flexibility in cropping during post-production even for 4K delivery. In addition, there is even an option to record 8K RAW movies internally without any external accessories. The Canon EOS R5 is also capable of recording up to 120fps in 4K as well. A variety of file formats are available, including RAW, H.265 HEVC and H.264 MP4 in either ALL-I or IPB compression.

Canon EOS R5

The Canon EOS R5 supports both 5GHz and 2.4GHz wireless LAN without any additional accessory, a first for the company. This means photographers can easily transfer image data from the camera to a smart device, PC or even FTP server. If the user requires even faster speeds, or SFTP with secured LAN, the optional WFT-R10 is available. It comes with 2×2 MIMO and wired LAN for faster and more stable connections. EOS R6 only supports the 2.4GHz band but retains the FTP & FTPS functionality.

Further, it supports  Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) as well. The camera comes with a magnesium alloy body and is weather sealed against dust and moisture. It has the same 500 000 cycles shutter durability as the EOS-1D X Mark III. The EOS R5 sports a top LCD panel.

AI Shutter could be Xiaomi’s Top Shot alternative

It seems that Xiaomi is working on a new feature called AI Shutter that will work like Google’s Top Shot on Pixel devices. According to some information discovered by the guys over at XDA-Developers, Xiaomi could deliver this new feature with the next MIUI 12 update.

We know that Pixels have some of the best cameras in the Android segment, and it’s because of its image processing software. One of its best software features is Top Shot, which makes Google Pixel devices take a burst of photos, and then then, a machine learning algorithm selects the best images. Xiaomi’s new AI Shutter would do exactly the same. This feature usually looks for the best pictures, where the subject is smiling, and looking at the camera without blinking.

AI Shutter wouldn’t be the only new feature headed to Xiaomi phones since we could also get Magic Clone and full-screen gesture support to MIUI’s camera app. However, we will have to wait for a stable MIUI 12 version to be ready.

Qualcomm announces Snapdragon Wear 4100 Platforms for wearables

Qualcomm just announced their new Snapdragon War 4100 and 4100+ platforms for the future of smartwatches. It’s built on a hybrid 12nm architecture, down from the 28nm from last year. This new architecture includes a higher performance SoC with improved CPU, GPU, Memory, Cellular Modem and camera sub systems. Basically the difference between the two is that the 4100+ is a big processor with the same small co-processor we saw on the 3100, while the 4100 is just a big processor. Some of the new features promised include Super-Fast Performance and Connectivity, a dedicated LTE mode, a Smarter Always On Display with far more colors. We have all of the specifics in the links in the description.

Microsoft might unveil the cheaper Xbox Series S console in August

It’s no secret that the PS5 made a bunch of headlines this month after they revealed the design but, we didn’t get a price tag and we’re assuming it’s going to be kinda hefty. Now, we’ve known that Microsoft will most likely have the upper hand when it comes to actual performance of the Series X but we’re also assuming that price tag will be heft as well. Apparently Microsoft is working on a more affordable console which is codenamed “Lockhart” and will reportedly debut as the Xbox Series “S”. The codename came from some leaked devkit documents but now a new report claims that this more affordable console will be announced in August. According to the leaks, this console will aim at 1080p and 1440p gaming instead of the 4K we’ll be getting from the Series X. It will bring the same CPU as the Series X but it will pack less usable RAM and a less powerful GPU. We’ll keep you posted.

Google acquires North, the maker of Focals smart glasses

Do you remember Google Glass? Well that didn’t turn out the way Google intended it to and now we’ve been getting a lot of rumors of Apple’s AR Glasses so Google decided to make a move. Mountain View just acquired North, the company behind the Focals 1.0 Smart Glasses. Neither of the two companies have disclosed the financial transaction but Rick Osterloh said in a blog post that North will be merged with Google’s team in Canada. The problem with this is that we won’t be getting the Focals 2.0 and this project is aimed at the long run so we’re not exactly sure about when we’ll get to see some hardware. Let’s just hope it’s Focals handling what’s coming up next and not Google. I mean.. Focals has succeeded, Google hasn’t.

OnePlus’ upcoming budget phone will officially debut as OnePlus Nord

It’s finally June 30 so OnePlus just launched the first episode of their documentary series and it actually reveals a lot of information. First off, the phone will be dubbed as the OnePlus Nord, the company even changed the Instagram account name to “OnePlus.Nord”. On this first episode, Pete Lau announced that this will be the company’s first product under the $500 mark in recent years. He also mentioned that it will be sold in India and Europe and only selected US consumers will be able to get it through a highly limited beta program after the release. We’re not sure if this is an early design but in one of the scenes we see a phone with a flat punch hole display and with dual selfie cameras, pretty much like the leaks. Pre-orders will also be available tomorrow, even if we haven’t really seen the phone. And no, stop looking at me funny, I don’t have the phone yet..

Story of the day:

iPhone 12 will allegedly record 4K videos at 240fps

Don’t expect to find BOE OLED panels in 5G iPhones soon

And finally for the hottest news today, let’s talk iPhone 12. We’ve got two separate leaks, one that’s expected, the other that still has me speechless, and I’m not talking about the lack of a charger, we discussed that yesterday. Let’s start with a follow-up with Apple and BOE displays, or should I say, the lack of a partnership. According to a new DigiTimes report, BOE failed to secure Apple’s validation for these displays. This doesn’t mean that they won’t supply displays at all, it just means that we might get BOE displays on some iPhones until Q4, after the phone is launched. Meanwhile, Samsung and LG will be handling all of the displays until Apple and BOE can iron out their issues. But alright, let me ask you this: Name one consumer grade camera that can film 4K at 240fps. Heck, name one that can film 4K at 120fps. Thing is, we can barely name a handful that can do 4K at 60fps even today. Well on an interesting note, earlier this weekend, EverythingApplePro posted a new video with leaks and predictions for the iPhone 12 line, one of them being an option to record 4K video at 240FPS, and today, according to a tipster on Twitter, there is evidence on the iOS 14 Beta filesystem that mentions this feature, allowing for 4K video at 240FPS native video. Like this is nuts. I still consider any iPhone after the XS to be a great B camera, or good enough for anyone to start a YouTube channel.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition aka S20 Lite will arrive in October

This year we got the S10 Lite and the Note 10 Lite at CES but, it looks like Samsung doesn’t want to wait too much this time around. According to a new Korean report we could be getting a new Galaxy S20 Lite as soon as October. The report claims that Samsung is working on a 3-month continuous phone launch strategy where the Note 20 will arrive in August, the Fold 2 will hit the shelves in September and we could be getting this S20 Lite in October. Another report claims that this phone might actually be called the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, which just sounds a little fancier. This phone will reportedly come in LTE and 5G skews and will run One UI 2.5 over Android 10.

Microsoft is permanently shutting down its retail stores

I’ve got to hand it to Microsoft for reaching profitability again in such a staggering way, but I’m not gonna deny that the controversial decisions are not my favorite, like killing Windows Phone and writing off the Nokia deal. Well today we have another one. Microsoft decided to close their retail stores temporarily back when the pandemic started but, apparently they want to keep it that way. In a major strategy shift, Microsoft just announced that they’ll be permanently closing almost all of their retail stores across the globe and they will be relying only on their online sales and their services. As for the jobs, we don’t know if they will be able to keep all of them but, Microsoft says that their retail team will “continue to serve customers from the Microsoft corporate facilities or even remotely”. They also say that they will “re-imagine” the space in their stores but we don’t exactly know what that means just yet.

Google Pixel 4a nears launch as it appears on FCC

Even if the Google Pixel 4a isn’t talked about as much lately, it still pops up in the rumor mill just enough for us to not completely forget about it. Now, it was just listed on the FCC which usually means that we’re getting close to a launch date. From that listing we got three different model numbers, one for the US and the other two are most likely for other parts of the world. Now we also have some case renders for the phone that show the more symmetrical bezels we’re expecting, the hole for the stove camera and even the punch hole at the front. The phone on the case render is Blue but, we still don’t know if that variant will be announced as it might’ve gotten scrapped. We’re still hoping for a July 13 launch so we’ll keep you posted as, Pixel 5 leaks should start coming soon.

OnePlus Nord will feature a dual front camera setup of 32MP + 8MP

We’ve been getting a lot of teasers and leaks for the upcoming OnePlus Nord. Now, a new development from Android Central talks about the selfie cameras, yes, cameras. We were expecting this phone to come with a centered single punch hole but according to this leak, it’ll bring dual front facing cameras. These will consist of a main 32MP sensor along with an 8MP secondary, but we don’t know exactly what the secondary camera will do. The leak mentions that the two cameras will come like the ones on the Huawei P40, at the top left corner. We’re expecting this phone to bring a Snapdragon 765, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, with a starting price around $330.

Story of the day:

New leaks give us a 4G iPhone 12 starting at $549

iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max could arrive with 120Hz displays

And finally for the hottest news today let’s talk iPhone 12 and two very important things… new perks.. And what you’ll have to pay for a specific variant we didn’t think would happen. We have some new leaks from Ice Universe but, they’re actually not for a Samsung device, sort off. We know Samsung provides Apple’s displays, especially when it comes to the Pro models. Well, according to him and “a reliable source”, the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max have basically the maximum 120Hz refresh rate. Some iOS 14 beta users have found an accessibility setting that limits the frame rate of their device to 60fps, hinting that future iPhones will be capable of higher refresh rate. Now, we don’t know if these iPhones will bring variable refresh rate but, that’s most likely not going to be the case for this year. Instead we’ll apparently get Apple’s ProMotion feature which dynamically adjusts the display to the movement of content for fluid scrolling, greater responsiveness and smoother motion. We also have a new leak from Twitter, though the source I’ve never heard of, and the leak is also funky.. so we have a claim that we will still get LTE versions for the iPhone 12 and 12 Max (Not Pros), and if we do, these will cost as low as $549. The 12 Max will cost $649 and the 5G prices will be $649 for the 12 and $749 for the 12 Max, pretty much like Jon leaked before.
